Title: kec6906's Trade Help Thread
Post by kec6906 on Sep 5th, 2006, 7:28pm
Hey gang!  are you ready for some football!  i sure am.  Hope everyone had a great 8 months.  So here we go.

i'm in a 12 team redraft league.  scoring = greater points for longer TD's.  plus the normal pts for # of catches/rushes and yardage.  We start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR/TE, 1 K, 1 DEF, 1 Ind Def Player, 1 Head Coach

my roster:

QB: McNabb, Brad Johnson
RB: Rudi Johnson, Kevin Jones, Fred Taylor, Lendale White, Hicks, Houston
WR: Randy Moss, Fitzgerald, Coles, Branch, Lloyd, Givens
K: Longwell
DEF:  INDY
Ind Def: Umenyiora
H/C: Edwards

i have been offered Jamal Lewis, Chester Taylor & Stallworth  for  Rudi & Fitgerald.

i actually like Lewis & Taylor's schedule (especially during our playoff weeks) and i think Stallworth could be huge for the Eagles.  plus it would give me an extra RB in case fragile fred gets hurt or maybe for another trade down the line.

i think Rudi is tough but Cincy doesnt have the best schedule and Fitz has Boldin & James also getting alot of attention.

i'm really not sure, but i'm leaning towards going for it.

any thoughts would be appreciated.

thanks.

First, kec, I want to refer you to this post I just made on another trade help thread...

Steg is right on target as usual. I for one have a thing about players on winning (Or scoring ) Teams. I think you should stay put.

NO WAY you can go for this trade.  You have two of the top guys and you want to trade them away?  And worse yet, you want to trade them away for unknowns......  Chester Taylor has never started a game, Jamal Lewis has HUGE question marks, and you have no idea what you are going to get in Stallworth.

Quantity does NOT beat out QUALITY!!!!

(and this is  a HORRIBLE deal)

Title: kec6906's Trade Help Thread - WK 6
Post by kec6906 on Oct 13th, 2006, 2:37pm
League #2  Buck (2-3)  2 player keeper League

scoring - rush/rec TD = 6 pts, pass TD = 4 pts (bonus for over 40 yds), 10 yds rec/rush = 1 pt (bonus for over 100 yds), K (by distance and neg for misses), Def - 25 punt ret yds or kick ret yds = 1 pt, ints, fum rec, fum forced, sacks, safetys, all TD's = 6 pts, bonuses for pts allowed up to 17 then neg pts.

QB: Brady, Brunell
RB: Bush, S Jackson, Jordan, Green, Henry, Jacobs
WR: R Moss, Galloway, Coles, A Johnson, Wayne, Muhammad
TE: McMichaels, Stevens
K: Brown
DEF: MIA

Unfortuntely things turned bad when i drafted R Moss & Jordan.  trying to get rid of both of them.  is there really any reason to keep them?

we start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR and a flex, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF.

1. With all my other WR's would you trade R Moss for Dunn straight up?

2. then im looking to turn around and trade Dunn and/or Jordan along with maybe another one of my WR for Steve Smith or Holt or TO and maybe an upgrade to a decent DEF.  thoughts?

3. or trade Jordan straight up for Steve Smith?

4. looking at my team is there anyone you would specifically try to get rid of and who would u go after?

Title: Re: kec6906's Trade Help Thread

I really think you should be able to package R. Moss and L. Jordan for S. Smith.  Depending on his WR and RB situation, that would be a solid trade for you and for the other person IMO.

Jordan still has more upside than Moss.  The only problem is, Lamont won't see any more production until lthe raiders can prove they can THROW the ball.  It's kinda hard to run in the NFL when the opposing team already KNOWS you are going to run it.

In any event.  I seriously doubt anyone would take R. Moss straight up for W. Dunn.  Unless they were REALLY desperate for a starting receiver.

My first offer would be Jordan straight up for Smith.  He probably won't bite, but should after you counter with Moss.  Secondly, I think Moss is the only one that is dead weight on your team.  If you acquired S. Smith, you would be set for the season with your WR corp.

Also, since you are in a 2 keeper league, I would probably try and package up Jacobs and Green for Dunn.  Bush and Jackson are great starters, and if you were able to get Dunn, that would be a great tandem.  But, I  wouldn't propose this until week 8 after the byes.

Good luck  ;D

Try to make your move with Jordan.

WITHOUT A DOUBT...  If you could turn Jordan and Moss into Dunn and Smith, you are the master.

Well, the latter part is an endless tale...  As for the former part, I would try to move Coles while his value is still quite high.  I see him tailing off.  Same for Galloway.  Ahman Green, if you can get anything decent for him, is VERY "movable" (read, expendable).  Henry, coming off that surprise performance last week, could also be a good guy to move before the games kick off THIS WEEK.  I just think he's just going to be impossible to predict week in and week out, and with Chow's boy White in the fold, it's just a matter of time, and that's not even to mention their "#1" guy [smiley=shrug.gif] Brown coming in and messing things up.

WEEK 7 - Buck ESPN (2-4)  KEEPER League, 2 player (which basically counts as our 1st 2 picks next year).
i have pick #6 in the actual 1st rd next year (which is really like the 3rd rd).  got that?

ok, no dice on any trades yet.  the guy who was so hard after R Moss now says he's not interested but i've got another trade to consider........

scoring - rush/rec TD = 6 pts, pass TD = 4 pts (bonus for over 40 yds), 10 yds rec/rush = 1 pt (bonus for over 100 yds), K (by distance and neg for misses), Def - 25 punt ret yds or kick ret yds = 1 pt, ints, fum rec, fum forced, sacks, safetys, all TD's = 6 pts, bonuses for pts allowed up to 17 then neg pts.

QB: Brady, Brunell
RB: Bush, S Jackson, Jordan, Green, Henry, Jacobs
WR: R Moss, Galloway, Coles, A Johnson, Wayne, Muhammad
TE: McMichaels, Stevens
K: Brown
DEF: MIA

Trade offer:

i get Larry Johnson & 4th pick in the 1st rd next year  for  Steven Jackson, Andre Johnson & my 2nd pick in the 3rd rd next year.

even with the extra 1st rd pick i'm not sure LJ is gonna be that much better then SJ in the long run.  (but that may be a good reason to do the trade because of the extra 1st rd pick i'll get)
they are ranked #3 (LJ) & #4 (SJ) as of wk 6 overall RB's.  LJ has only scored 2 more pts than SJ.

any thoughts?

L.J. is not having that bad of a year "Fantasy" wise.  And Steven Jackson always has the injury worry.  I honestly don't think that S.J. will make it through the whole season before his knee gos out again.

I had the same feeling about Fitz this year, and it payed off for me when I dealt him in week 1.  L.J. will still get you the same points roughly as S.J. will, and he has MUCH more upside. and even if he does bust, you still have descent backups to get you through until next year, when you get 2 picks in the first round [smiley=woohoo.gif]

I think Andre J. is a little bit much I.M.O.  I would counter offer with the picks, and S.J.  Even though you have a GREAT receiver corps, Johnson is a #1 fantasy starter.  L.J. is on the brink of being a #2.  Theres no need to give away a good receiver AND running back for an extra 1st round pick.  Which is mainly what we are really talking about here.

If he won't budge without Andre, It still is a trade worth a lot of consideration.  You won't be keeping a WR next year, it will be Bush and Johnson.  Quite a combo to look forward too next year  [smiley=yes.gif] and  2 first round picks are VERY advantagous.

Good Luck!!

O4L

However, unlike O4l, I would NOT even consider the trade unless you can pull Johnson out of it.  I.e., as the trade now stands, I would NOT do it.

thanks guys.  havent heard back from the owner yet but i sent him a counter offer switching out AJ and offering Galloway, Moss, Wayne or Muhammad instead.  dont think he'll go for it.  but i'd rather give up one of those guys to get the extra 1st rd pick.  i'll let u know.

Title: Re: kec6906's Trade Help Thread
Post by kec6906 on Oct 27th, 2006, 3:38pm
still no go on any previous trades i wrote about but heres some new ideas.......

League #5  (2-5)  scoring - 10 rush yds = 1 pt, 20 rec yds = 1 pt, td's = 6 pts, (+ bonuses)

Palmer, Delhomme - Rudi, Dunn, Washington, Barlow, McGahee - Housh, S Moss, A Bryant, Bruce, Reg Williams - Crumpler, Clark - Kaeding - SD

we play 2 RB's, 3 WR's........

trying to trade a RB & a WR for either Hines Ward (that owner needs a RB badly, he's 2-5, not in my division, will not play again reg season)  or  Steve Smith (not as much need for RB but could use one, 4-3 in my division, will play again before playoffs)

i will only offer him Bryant, Bruce or Reg Williams (WR) to go with either Rudi, Dunn or Washington/Barlow

Definitely want to keep Housh, S Moss, McGahee.

Dunn & Rudi are top RB's, Washington has great possibilities.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
League #6  Goose CBS (4-3) scoring - all td's = 6 pts, only pts for 300+ pass yds, 100+ rush or rec yds, sacks = 1 pt
Favre, Leinart - Cadillac, Alexander, Morris, C Taylor, Kevin Jones, Washington - Holt, Andre Johnson, Reg Williams - Longwell - MIN, BAL, JAX
we play 2 RB's, 2 WR's......
looking to upgrade at QB.
1. one owner is offering Bulger and wants RB's (not a dire need but thats what he wants)  obviously Cadillac & Alexander have not scored at all this year but those are my 2 big names to deal.  or maybe offer Washington & Caddy for Bulger?  the Bulger to Holt double dip would be great if they keep it up.
2. another owner has Brady & Grossman.  dont know which he wants to trade but he needs a RB also.
i'd like to keep KJ & C Taylor and hopefully trade Caddy or Alex (i dont know if a trade will fly while he's hurt) for a QB.
any thoughts on either possibility?????
thanks.
Well, it's hard for me to deal with anything but "specifics" right now...  Based on the make-up of your team in league #6, Bulger (and maybe some sweetener) for Washington (even though he is on the verge of breaking out) and Caddy could be a very good deal for you.  I'd really consider it.  Good luck! [smiley=shamrock.gif]
AND, by the way, DID YOU RECEIVE YOUR ORIGINAL "the Gridiron" t-shirt, Keith???
Hey Steg,  i did get my shirt yesterday or the day before.  thanks, wearing it today while i try and get some trades done.  maybe it will bring me luck.
by the way what do you think of this trade offer for League #5?  my team roster and scoring is in the help post right before from 10/27/06.
i give up:  Reggie Williams, Santana Moss, Leon Washington
i get:  Hines Ward & Darrell Jackson
i obviously think its good for me and i do think its pretty fair but thats my opinion.  think it will be approved by the league?
Title: Re: kec6906's Trade Help Thread
Post by StegRock on Oct 28th, 2006, 6:42pm
Boy,... kec,... I wouldn't do it...  I want to break it down...  Hines Ward for Leon Washington, fair (but, objectively speaking, it is RB for WR, which always kind of sucks).  But, in any event, I'd rather have Santana Moss and Reggie Williams than Darrell Jackson as things stand right now.  You could surely use the receiver help and spare a running back, but I REALLY believe Washington is on the verge of breaking out, and by trading him right now, you are setting yourself up for some serious... [smiley=doh.gif] and [smiley=frustrated.gif] and not getting ALL you could [smiley=greedy.gif] down the line.  How about McGahee and just Moss or Williams for Ward and Jackson???
That's great about the t-shirt!!!  I'm glad you got it in a timely fashion...  Don it well, my friend!!!  For those of you wondering, original "the Gridiron" t-shirts, though no longer pimped on the forum, are still available through "the Gridiron Store (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/store.htm)".  Check it out! Title: Re: kec6906's Trade Help Thread
Post by kec6906 on Oct 28th, 2006, 11:24pm
hey Steg, well i actually pulled the trigger on the deal this morning and it was accepted.  probably be approved tomorrow before game time but thanks for your opinion.
my take.... even though Moss is a #1 WR i really wasnt thrilled with him - well, more his QB and WAS as a team i guess.
Ward hopefully (and Roth)  just starting to break out of their funk and can keep it going (even with Roth out Batch looks for Ward).
DJax lost his QB but w/o Alexander their gonna have to throw to someone and i think he's the main guy - and even when Alex/Hass do come back their still gonna throw it alot plus i think SEA has a really good schedule the rest of the way.
as far as Leon Washington - he does look good so far and supposedly he's the starter now but Barlow will probably still get carries plus i figured between McGahee (i think he has a really good schedule the rest of the way), Rudi (Cin high scoring offense if they get on track) and Dunn (really running well) i should be good the rest of the way as far as RB goes.  i also figured he was least known and most expendable.
so my lineup would look like this:
QB: Palmer, Delhomme
RB: Rudi, Dunn, McGahee, Barlow, Lundy (gonna try & pick up when trade goes thru - last starting RB still on WW)
WR: Housh, Ward, DJax, Bruce, Bryant
TE: Crumpler, Dal Clark
K:  Kaeding
DEF: San Diego
my record is (2-5) with 6 weeks left so i'm hoping this team can get me into the playoffs and maybe further.  on paper it looks good.  we'll see.
Title: kec6906's Trade Help Thread - WK 11
Post by kec6906 on Nov 15th, 2006, 5:37pm
trade deadline tonight 6 1/2 hours!  last minute offer, looking for last minute advice.
scoring:  TD's = 6 pts, only bonus pts for 100+ yds rush OR rec, 300+ passing
my roster:
QB: Favre, Leinart   (start 1)
RB: Alexander, Morris, Kevin Jones, C Taylor, Addai, Washington, Cadillac   (start 2)
WR: Holt, Andre Johnson, R Williams   (start 2)
K: Longwell
DEF:  BAL, MIN    (start 1)
trade #1 - i've been offered Frank Gore & Marc Bulger for Alexander.
Favre has been good but i think Bulger is a definite upgrade, has a great schedule down the stretch and could hit Holt for the double bubble.  Gore has been looking good lately has an ok schedule.
Will Alexander actually get back full strength this season and score like his old self?  (3 wks reg season & 3 wks playoffs left)
trade #2 - give up KJ & another RB except Caddy (no one wants him)  for Tom Brady.  [this one hasnt been discussed yet]
what do you guys think of #1 & #2?
thanks.
This is WAY after the fact...  BUT, I hope you DID trade #1.  That's a NO-BRAINER!!!  That would make the second unnecessary.  It would have been an okay deal without doing the first one, but the first one makes it a bad deal.  I hope you made the right moves.
Title: Re: kec6906's Trade Help Thread
Post by kec6906 on Nov 20th, 2006, 2:21pm
Hey Steg, looking at Gores last couple weeks (including yesterdays romp), i should have done that first trade.
of course i didnt.  i guess im holding hope that Alexander will only take a wk or 2 to get back to studness.  i'm a lock for the playoffs (i think) so its wks 14-16 where i'll really need him
i did end up trading Kevin Jones for Bulger prior to yesterdays games which was a lose lose situation for both of us yesterday but Bulger should be better the rest of the way.  i hope!
new roster:
QB: Bulger, Favre, Leinart
RB: Alexander, C Taylor, Addai, Washington, Jacobs, Morris
WR: Holt, A Johnson, R Williams (looking to pick up Evans or Edwards as backup)
K: Longwell
DEF: BAL, MIN
Title: kec6906's Trade Help Thread - WK 12
Post by kec6906 on Nov 20th, 2006, 2:58pm
New trade possibility here, same league #1 that i just lost McNabb in (see my lineup help post for wk 12).  distance scoring w/ bonuses.
roster:
QB:   :'( :'( (none yet, see my lineup help post) :'( :'(
RB:  Rudi, Kevin Jones, Fred Taylor, Perry, White  [start 2]
WR/TE:  Fitzgerald, Branch, Coles, R Moss (waste), R Smith (waste), Crumpler, LJ Smith  [start 3]
K:  Longwell
DEF:  IND, MIN
offered:
1.  Steve Smith for Kevin Jones straight up
2.  Steve Smith & Rhodes  for  KJ & Coles
only problem now is KJ got hurt yesterday (unk how bad) so that obviously would hold up any trade.
also i would prob have to go for #2 cause at least Rhodes gets on the field and if anything happens to one of my 2 starting RB's, i could play him and at least get some pts.
i think Smith is a big stud and ranks way above my other WR's plus KJ doesnt really have a good schedule coming up but i would be taking a chance having to count on Rudi (i like) and F Taylor for 5 more weeks (if i can make it to the championship).  but i also have to win now to assure getting into the playoffs and having a chance to win it all.
thoughts again?  thanks.
Title: Re: kec6906's Trade Help Thread
none of your trades involves a QB, which you desperately need.  if you could acquire Smith, that'll almost certainly be enough to pry away a QB from someone.  but you'll be dangerously thin at RB.     Still, desparate times call for desparate measures.
I think I'd try to pull of option #2, then send smith for a QB.  you should be able to get a top flight QB like Brees.
good luck!
thanks for trying Captain but i blew the trade deadline (it ended sunday night), KJ's inj status was up in the air anyway so the other owner prob wouldn't have taken the trade.
