Title: Cowboys Offseason Report
Post by StegRock on Feb 16th, 2007, 11:42pm
Owens still has a future with the Boys... ::) according to "The REAL Feed":

Jones says plans are to bring Owens back next season (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2767546&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines)
ESPN: NFL (16.02.2007 01:24)
While Jerry Jones expects Terrell Owens to still be with the Dallas Cowboys next season, the team owner stopped short of guaranteeing that Thursday night.

Brad Johnson is a Cowboy!

I think this is a great fit for BOTH parties.  Brad Johnson can earn some cash as a back up. And the Cowboys get a proven back  that he can be a very good, as evidenced by what he did with the Vikings when Daunte went down.  Plus, Johnson is not going to be a negative factor in the locker room who is whining about not starting.(like Bledsoe was at times)

Well, we'll see...  From "The REAL Feed",... these sound like fightin' words...

Johnson signs with Cowboys to play QB, not mentor 1 (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/nfl/wires/03/06/2020.ap.fbn.cowboys.johnson.0432/index.html)
SI.com: NFL (06.03.2007 19:49)

I found this quote, regarding his decision's coming down to the Cowboys and Broncos, particularly intriguing...

"'They (the Broncos) drafted Jay in the first round and he is the franchise. They want him there for the next 10 years,' Johnson said. 'He is loaded with potential and talent and they are looking for more of a mentor kind of role. That mentor thing, I really kind of disagreed with that.'"

By implication, what does that say about (at least what he thinks about) Tony Romo('s situation in Dallas)?  Point being, from a fantasy perspective, regardless of this Johnson signing, Dallas is undergoing a regime change.  Romo, who looked good at times and, well, not so good at times, could very well fall victim to that reality, in the long-run at least.

Dallas has secured itself a potentialy great offensive line with the resigning of Gurode, the signing of Davis and now the resiging of Columbo....

Julius Jones to be traded??

Adam Scheftler of NFL Network is reporting that the Cowboys may be trading Julius Jones.  With only 1 year left on his deal and the emergence of Marion Barber, this makes a lot of sense.  Potential partners?

Buffalo, Green Bay, and Tennessee

My prediction is that Julius Jones heads off to Detroit. They found that stockpiling top WR prospects didn't work, so why not hoard all of the RBs in the NFL. There won't be any left for anyone else.  [smiley=alcoholic.gif]

Glenn won't be back this preseason... according to "The REAL Feed":

Glenn won't play in preseason, but could be ready for opener (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/nfl/wires/08/21/2020.ap.fbn.cowboys.glenn.0243/index.html)
