This is great news for Browns fans. Considering the Browns have had Reuben Drougns as their RB for the past 2 years, this is a nice signing. Jamal is a nice signing. (and now rumor is that McGHahee will be Jamals replacement in Baltimore) |

Title: Re: Browns Offseason Report Post by StegRock on Mar 9th, 2007, 5:24pm Just as a... [smiley=doseofreality.gif] I take it to be the case, contrary to what many a media-man is saying, that the 1-year signing of Jamal Lewis virtually ensures the Browns' drafting RB Adrian Peterson. Just throwin' it out there... |

Title: Re: Browns Offseason Report Post by StegRock on Apr 2nd, 2007, 4:51am Interested in a big-name stop-gap quarterback... according to "The REAL Feed": Browns thinking Green? K.C. QB on radar (http://cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/story/10096645/rss) CBS SportsLine.com NFL News (29.03.2007 23:31) Cleveland Browns GM Phil Savage confirmed Thursday that that he contacted Kansas City GM Carl Peterson about Trent Green, a two-time Pro Bowl quarterback, during this week's NFL meetings in Phoenix. This actually could be good news for Charlie Frye... in the long run. To be honest, I don't think the fairly immobile and injury-prone Green would last all too long behind Cleveland's continual work in progress of an o-line. If he thought it was rough behind KC's,... YIKES!!! [smiley=scared.gif] Cleveland's o-line will provide a WHOLE NEW ADVENTURE!!! [smiley=yikes.gif] |

Title: Re: Browns Offseason Report Post by StegRock on Aug 31st, 2007, 6:27pm It seems to be that Frye will hold onto the starting QB job... for the time being... according to "The REAL Feed": Crennel to name Frye Cleveland's No. 1 QB (http://www.realfootball365.com/nfl/articles/2007/08/crennel_to_name_frye_cleveland.html) NFL News: RealFootball365.com (31.08.2007 18:10) According to multiple sources, the Cleveland Browns will name Charlie Frye, not Brady Quinn, their opening-day starting quarterback. The Browns open the season on Sept. 9 against the AFC North rival Pittsburgh Steelers. Sources: Frye, not Quinn, to start for Browns (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp07/news/story?id=2999741&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines) ESPN: NFL (31.08.2007 17:52) There has been no official announcement from coach Romeo Crennel, but all indications are that quarterback Charlie Frye has retained the Browns' starting job for the outset of the season and will open against the Steelers. |

NFL live had a little blurb on this. They showed a graphic that Clevelands first 5 games are against the top defenses from last year. Apparently, (according to them) the thought is that the Browns did not want to throw Quinn against those top Ds. |

Title: Re: Browns Offseason Report Post by StegRock on Sep 2nd, 2007, 10:38am Yea, that's been the rhetoric from the moment Quinn signed. It's really just common sense. It's a good move by the Browns. Of course, if Frye surprises and they win some of those games, that could throw a wrench in the "plans"... [smiley=hmmmm.gif] The question would become,... how welcome of a wrench??? |
