I guess Lamont is a team player. I am kind of surprised he did this. With Ahman Green, Travis Henry, and soon, Thomas Jones, getting big deals, I am surprised Lamont did not want to try his hand at free agency. I am sure he could of gotten what he was asking for instead of taking the pay cut. Oh well, I guess he took the safe route. |

Title: Re: Raiders Offseason Report Post by Callie on Mar 9th, 2007, 9:53pm Sorry I don't have a link yet. (Maybe Tony O can help me.) According to NFL Network, the Raiders have signed ex-Falcon FB Justin Griffith today! That means we have Jordan, Rhodes, Fargas and Griffith. And Jordan, Rhodes and Griffith have hands. Power runners, hands, blockers. The Raider back field is looking good, and Lane Kiffin has the Raider Reigns. |

Title: Re: Raiders Offseason Report Post by Callie on Mar 10th, 2007, 8:40pm Thanks, Tony! Looks like the Raiders will go to a blend of WCO and vertical ball in the Kiffin offense! In terms of Crockett, I think he'll retire a Raider when he decides to retire. |

Title: Re: Raiders Offseason Report Post by StegRock on Mar 13th, 2007, 7:14pm It's lookin' more and more like Randy Moss will be cast out of [smiley=warrior.gif]Raider[smiley=raider.gif]Nation[smiley=skull.gif]... From "The REAL Feed": Report: Packers leaders to discuss trade for Moss (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2796831&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines) ESPN: NFL (13.03.2007 11:25) The Green Bay Packers' leadership will hear from general manager Ted Thompson on Tuesday about plans to trade for Randy Moss. I distinctively smell a "2007 Comeback Player of the Year" nominee here in WR Jerry Porter, who, with the departure of Moss, will again become the teams go-to wideout. He's already gotten himself a new jersey number in anticipation of a rebirth. ... Just tuck this juicy nugget in your hip pocket, fellow fantasy footballers... [smiley=yes.gif] ... Title: Re: Raiders Offseason Report Post by Callie on Mar 13th, 2007, 7:29pm Yeah, this thing has been going all over the place. Cold Pizza is saying that a trade involving Packer KGB could be in the works. On top of that, the rumor (sorry, I hate posting rumors) is that a possible set of talks may be Moss for Lance Briggs with the Bears - but I doubt that a lot. The Raiders couldn't afford him and are setting up at LB very well. The main scuttlebut is that Green Bay wants Moss, the Raiders want Moss out, and that the negotiations are about the price. It's also a possibility that Moss will get traded for a pick or picks on draft day. (DRAFT DAY! MAKE IT COME SOON!) Edit: I should have also mentioned that I personally think that the Briggs for Moss thing could possibly be to put a little pressure on Green Bay. ;) |

Title: Re: Raiders Offseason Report Post by StegRock on Apr 15th, 2007, 8:06pm Raiders dropping some hints about what they'll do in the Draft... according to a LOCAL source on "The REAL Feed": NFL Beat: Raiders dispense few draft morsels (http://www.sacbee.com/360/story/155285.html) The Sacramento Bee: SF 49ers (15.04.2007 07:25) It's hardly news that the Raiders, who pride themselves on secrecy, are dropping few hints about whom they might pick first in the NFL draft. Calvin Johnson seems to be being seriously considered... Stay tuned... [smiley=hmmmm.gif] |

Title: Re: Raiders Offseason Report Post by StegRock on Jun 1st, 2007, 5:18am Jerry Porter's lookin' like a sneeeeeaky-good [smiley=sneaky.gif] fantasy pick-up for '07... notwithstanding his having to keep his jersey number... From the very bottom of "The REAL Feed (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/newsstand.htm)": Jersey change too costly for Raiders WR Porter (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2887504&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines) ESPN: NFL (30.05.2007 19:12) When Jerry Porter switched his number this offseason, he said he was ready for a new start and a new attitude after feuding last season with former coach Art Shell. That attitude change has a price, though, and Porter is not willing to pay it. |

It's more than just depth. If Darius is at SS, Huff can play FS (as he should), and Bing spent last year on IR & needs experience (with Darius as a mentor). Also, good nickel packages are right there! When Darius visited the Raiders and left without a deal, I was disappointed. I love this signing! |

Title: Re: Raiders Offseason Report Post by Callie on Aug 1st, 2007, 9:16pm In an interview, Culpepper made it clear that he was there to play until Russell takes over, and to mentor Culpepper. In fact, he sounded like a guy with his ego in check and who's ready to embrace teamwork. I don't think it was just camp speak. He has everything to gain if he plays well for a year. If CPepp still has it in him, and if the Raider O line is finally improved, CPepp will be a good fantasy back-up for the first half of the season. He'll be auditioning for his next team for a year, and then he'll be a free agent with no need to push for a trade. But he may be replaced mid-season or earlier if Russell is ready or if it looks to the team that giving Russell field time is the best option. |

Title: Re: Raiders Offseason Report Post by StegRock on Aug 7th, 2007, 4:22am Fair shakes in Oakland few and far between these days, especially on offense. From "The REAL Feed": Raiders' ill-fated Walter likely to be cut (http://www.realfootball365.com/nfl/articles/2007/08/raiders-andrewwalter-likelycut080707.html) NFL News: RealFootball365.com (07.08.2007 00:49) Third-year Oakland Raiders quarterback Andrew Walter is modest, talented and down to earth. He's the type of young quarterback that NFL coaches love; he has a gun for an arm and an open mind. Unfortunately, he's perhaps one of the unluckiest young quarterbacks in the league today. |
