Title: Re: Share with "the Gridiron" forum your Top 10 RC Post by steelkings on Aug 16th, 2007, 2:48pm Can someone explain to me why.......... CJ, Ocho Cinco, #85 or what ever you wish to call him. Why is he ranked so high on everyones list. My list will eventually be posted, but I just dont get it. I'm not even so sure he is the best reciever on that team. He's got the biggest mouth, thats for sure. This is the way I'm looking at it. The guy had 87 receptions for 1360 yards to go along with 7 TD's in 2006. Those numbers arent really exciting as they are. There even less exciting when you consider that 5 of those TD's and almost 600 of those yards came in the same three games. T.J. Hachoomanzahhaha had more receptions (90)than the "over rated one" in two less games. T.J Hachooyadayada also had 9 TD's in those two less games. What that tells me is that "The great mouth of Cincy" in 3 of the games in the 2006 season, was bad to the bone. The other 13 games he was average at best. My question to the group is : What changed to make him rank so high now? Just curious. While I'm at it, why is T.O suddenly under the bus tires?(OK, half of you are Eagle fans. I get it!)......His numbers were similer to Johnsons last year. In my opinion he has more of an upside with an Improving Cowboys team than Johnson with a "same ole, same ole, if not worse Bengals team. How did he not crack anyones top 5 ? In fact he was left off two lists all together. |

You know what sk? I don't know. Call it a gut feeling for me. I had Chad, Holt, Harrison, Smith, and Wayne all about the same. They could have all been my #1. My gut said CJ. I had T.O. at #6. If you tiered those 5 WR's I mentioned and made them Tier 1, then right outside of that would have been T.O., Roy Williams, Evans, Driver, and Fitz in my Tier 2. If you look at my rankings, you'd see Housh and a host of others in my 3rd Tier. To me WR's are lumped so closely together you could make an argument for any of the Top 10 or 15 positions. If that helps explain it..I don't know. [smiley=idontknow.gif] |

Title: Re: Share with "the Gridiron" forum your Top 10 RC Post by StegRock on Aug 16th, 2007, 4:13pm In VERY short... on 08/16/07 at 14:48:16, steelkings wrote:
Well, we disagree there... Quote:
And, you can't go picking and choosing what to count and what not to count... When you start applying that across the board, it starts falling apart. To wit,... in fact it's the only fair thing to do if you are going to take this tack,... let's take out Houshmandzadeh's top three games. It's not as big of a hit, but, then again, he didn't have as good of a season. Sometimes it just is three HUGE games that make a difference in a fantasy season and in fantasy rankings. Bottom line, you have to apply the same "rules of scrutiny" to every player. If your rule is cut out players' three top games and analyze according to what you have left, then you have to do it across the board and, then, see what you have. You don't just do it to one player. That's called propaganda. Quote:
We disagree, again. I think this team is going to be a mess on offense with Coach Wade at the helm and an overrated Romo over center. Quote:
...which, with Palmer at the helm, could be a good thing, mind you, for a receiver. ... This, below, I am in absolute agreement with... on 08/16/07 at 15:17:19, MordecaiCourage wrote:
That's why doing top 10 rankings is really more about fun than substance. While this may be the difference between a bad and good fantasy owner, the distinction between good and great fantasy owners is not made based on owners' perceptions in the top 10. It's farther out where the cream rises... ... In any event, it would take a fortnight to really peel this onion back. As regards T.O., it would involve takes on the Cowboys as a team, Coach Wade, Terry Glenn, Hurd and Crayton, Romo, and so on. As regards C.J., it would require discussions of the Bengals as a team, what a supposedly improved Houshmandzadeh means, Henry's suspension, and so on. We could be here for the rest of our lives. But, in any event, you, by your very own words, are the one diverging from the popular opinion here. The burden of proof/argument lies with you, my friend, not so much us. That's how argumentation typically works,... and that's why you see me arguing (in the good sense) so often around here... It's the plight of a visionary... [smiley=zenmaster.gif] ... Not the way I see it. For him to be the best RC in football, as you labeled him, he needs to be consistantly good every week.As im sure you know, when you have to choose between several players on your roster, you are going to start those who are putting up. Not those who are less than average through 9 weeks. Quote:
Thats right, they are fun. They are also fun to scrutinize. I mean come on. When you have posted a WR who had a questionable year in the past season as no# 1, it raises a brow. Even more with the division he plays in. When you have have not one, but two Arizona Cardinal recievers ahead of T.O, I'm gonna want to know what you were thinking to get there. Thats why I posed the question. Not to be a brown noser, but I find you right more than wrong. However in this regaurd, I find it a little silly. |

Title: Re: Share with "the Gridiron" forum your Top 10 RC Post by steelkings on Aug 17th, 2007, 1:46pm 1. Marvin Harrison - Colts 2. Terrell Owens - C-Boys 3. Tory Holt - Rams 4. Javon Walker - Bronks 5. Randy Moss - Patsys 6. Marques Colston - Saints 7. Steve Smith - Cats 8. Chad Johnson - other cats 9. Hines Ward - Steel 10. Kevin Curtis - Eagles My thoughts, I love Walker at 4. It wouldn't take too much to convince me to push him all the way to the front of the line. If Henry holds up his end of the bargain, Walker will put up Harrison like numbers. The Pats have a way of curing cancer and ressurrecting washed up old careers. Moss will suprise Many. Kevin Curtis is the sleeper of the year. Have at it! |

Title: Re: Share with "the Gridiron" forum your Top 10 RC Post by Philly on Aug 18th, 2007, 11:02pm I hope you're right on Kevin Curtis. (I don't think you are, but I can hope!) Curtis has looked very solid from what I've seen, and the Eagles couldn't be more thrilled with him. The only issue that I see with him is that the Eagles will still be giving Brian Westbrook his 75 catches, and then there's Reggie Brown and the Eagles love to throw to the tight ends (rookie Brent Celek has been fantastic thus far, although LJ Smith should return before long). I just don't see Curtis getting more than 60-65 catches this year, and that's not enough to put him top 10. |
