Wow, the Jets are desperate in their signings this year.  They have revamped the entire team.  I think the worst part of it all is they will probably not be that much better.  They still do not have a definite starting QB AND not sure of the running game.  Is Thomas Jones going to be healthy?  Is he going to be recovered?

Franks should help them out with the running game, and he's good for mentor/depth, too.  I think it's a good signing for the Jets.

This "good news" for Coles, Coles owners and Jets fans, from a LOCAL source on "The REAL Feed (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/newsstand.htm)"...

Jets guarantee Laveranues Coles $11M (http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/2008/03/29/2008-03-29_jets_guarantee_laveranues_coles_11m.html?ref=rss)
New York Daily News: Sports - Football (29.03.2008 06:43)
Instead of extending Laveranues Coles' contract and pouring new money into the deal, the Jets placated the veteran wide receiver Friday by guaranteeing the final two years of his current contract, according to an NFL source.

Well... it's official. Brett Favre has been traded to the Jets. Watch for Chad Pennington to be released shortly to clear cap space.

The deal is for a conditional 4th rounder in 2009. The pick becomes a 3rd if Favre participates in at least 50% of the offensive plays. It moves to a 2nd at 70% AND a playoff appearance. It moves to a 1st at 80% and a Super Bowl appearance. If Favre does not play in 2009, then the Jets will receive another (late-round) conditional pick for the 2010 draft based on the pick they receive from the pack for the 2009 season.

[offtopic]I just have to get this off my chest...  His "particularly expressive" choice of words aside, I thought Coles's standing up for Pennington against a Jets' fan or two was cool.  The clueless commentators have to stop with their pointing out the obvious, namely that Favre is a superior quarterback that Coles will likely find can elevate his receiving game.  They're TOTALLY missing the point...  Coles was sticking up for Pennington as a friend, not as a quarterback.  Oh, well...  Who cares, right?[/offtopic]
