Well, while the NFL jury is still out for sure, there's room for Michael in the GBRFL.  This "may have been" just "a bit" early, but, Vick apologist that I've been despite being a fantasy owner who had to suffer through it all (not, for the record, that I ever felt that he should have gotten off scot-free), I had to make certain that he have his opportunity to resurrect his (fantasy) career in the GBRFL with my team. [smiley=peedog.gif] I've been by and large on your side, Michael...  Now, I'm hoping you'll be playing for mine. [smiley=fingerscrossed.gif]

[offtopic]Heck, with the GBRFL season trading deadline today, I even brought back another one of my controversial favorites, Rasta [smiley=rasta.gif] Ricky.  Not expecting to get much out of him at this point in his career moving forward, but am hoping he hooks me up this week, going against St. Louis. [smiley=pray.gif] Come on, Ricky! [smiley=cheerleader.gif][/offtopic]

Actually, according to this piece, this latest financial debacle, noted in the post immediately above, should not affect Vick's reinstatement into the league.  Also, this article dispels the option of Vick's going and playing up in the Canadian Football League, but points out the possibility of his playing in the newly forming United Football League (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cgi-bin/theGridiron/YaBB.cgi?board=58;action=display;num=1236801203).

I really like the overall tenor of the user comments...  They reflect my feelings about the situation with Vick, i.e. enough already; it's time we give this guy a break... and, though he is surely not worth 10 mil right out of the pen like he claims he is, not just relegate him to "wildcat" status.  Make no mistake...  This guy can still quarterback.  He may even be better after being away from the game for a couple seasons.

The way he plays the game I don't think he can play for another 10 years. I do think that he can play for another 7 though. He still has alot to prove on his passing skills. He other skills speak for themselves. No doubt though that some teams will be caling when he gets his chance to come back into the league. I can think od 6-7 teams that could use him, and would be willing to get him another shot.
Who knows, maybe since the Skins missed out on Cutler...Vick could be on their radar.
He will get another shot, but the money wont be what he hoped for.

[offtopic]First I read an article at SI.com, which I am not even going to dignify with a link, where the author describes this situation where he is watching a game in which Vick is playing and Vick busts open a play at and by which he marvels and is mesmerized... and,... then,... from his easy chair down at his little furball Sophie curled up on the floor looking up at him with her big brown eyes (blink,... blink) he looks... in shame.  Then, as if that bit of misplaced hyperbole wasn't bad enough, I'm checking out this article speculating about the chances of Vick ending up in Buffalo.  In the comments section below it, some moron actually played off the studies that point out the tendency of serial murderers to be in their youth to kill animals in graphic and morbid fashion.  This genius extrapolates from that that Vick not only will eventually murder, but that he already has.  Are you friggin' kidding me?  But, I digress... within my digression...  The former, the columnist, is not making an important distinction; the latter, the respondent, is engaged in outright conflation.

To the columnist,... you have to realize Sophie laying next to you in your Lazyboy on a Sunday afternoon is to pitbull fighting as a pasture full of happy California dairy cows is to the running of the bulls and the bullfighting that comes after.  There is a distinction here necessary to an accurate perception of reality, one that allows one to relate to and engage reality in an appropriate and not obsessive way.

To the dumb-ass respondent,... you, my VERY lost friend, so badly (exemplify the) need (for) the Buddhist philosophy of non-attachment (in American society), especially as "packaged" by the Chan-Zen Buddhists, which would cleanse you of your false attachments to forms.  The facilitation of such a philosophy in our culture would definitely get us away from misapplying a form, a model in such an egregiously incorrect manner, to the point of slander like this clown does here.

Now, don't get me wrong.  None of what I say above makes what Vick did and participated in any less hideous.  It's just that it is hideous in context.  The hideousness doesn't remove the context.  By the same token, the context does not negate the hideousness.  That's the "middle way" to fairness. I think the Vick situation is interesting to watch.  I think if you asked people if Vick deserved a second chance to play in the NFL, a majority of people would say yes.

However, if you asked the same people if they would sign Vick, they would say NO.  What person in their right mind would want that type of distraction on their team?

I would guess Vick will get a 6-8 game suspension, but then once he is eligible to sign, no one will sign him.  He will linger out there in the UFL, Arena League, etc....  a 'minor league' team that wants the publicity no matter how they can get it.

Here's a piece rolling [smiley=rollin.gif] off "The REAL Feed" that is basically in agreement with Double D:

Commentary: Vick should resume career in UFL (http://www.sacbee.com/sports/story/1887750.html?mi_rss=Sports)
The Sacramento Bee: Sports (24.05.2009 03:16)
SANTA CLARA - There's a good chance Michael Vick will play football in San Francisco in 2009. However, it probably won't be for Mike Singletary and the 49ers.Instead, the better fit as Vick begins his transition from federal prison inmate to professional football player would be with Dennis ...

I, however, am in disagreement.  In fact, contrary to all the reported coyness in the NFL when it comes to Vick, I myself am shocked by all the teams being named as good destinations for Vick this year.  According to the pundits, there isn't a team, as far as I can tell, being ruled out.  Now, while I do agree that Vick will reappear in the NFL this year, I do think the list of teams that make sense is significantly shorter, though still somewhat long...

1. Washington Redskins (to presumably take over for a not so sexy Jason Campbell)
2. Minnesota Vikings (if Favre doesn't come to town; if he does, drop them down three spots to behind the 49ers)
3. Jacksonville Jaguars (as a threat to overtake Garrard)
4. Oakland Raiders (Jamarcus is doing what he can('t) to make it happen, but do I really have to explain?)
5. San Francisco 49ers (to add to the lackluster competition)
6. Miami Dolphins (if, but only when, Pennington falters AND Henne doesn't work out)
7. Denver Broncos (if that weirdness at QB is found not to work out,... what the hell)
8. Cleveland Browns (to add to a sketchy mix and draw some attention; something would have to come out of Vick going to the Dog [smiley=dog.gif] Pound)
9. Houston Texans (as a backup to a still shaky Schaub)
10. New England Patriots (as the primary and "alternative" backup to a possibly still achy Brady)
11. St. Louis Rams (if Bulger falters)
12. Carolina Panthers (if Delhomme falters)

That's my take... [smiley=threed.gif]

[offtopic]Notwithstanding my above posts, Gino and I (more so Gino; I just put on the finishing touches) came up with the following condition of Vick's return...  Michael Vick should return only on the condition that, if he performs unsuccessfully, he should suffer the same fate of the dogs of his that didn't.  YOWZA! [smiley=mywhippinboy.gif] I am of the opinion that he deserves a second chance, BUT there is a certain logic to that that cannot be denied (perhaps in both senses of the phrase, I am becoming more and more convinced)! This is great for Mike. I hope he signs soon. I wish him the best of luck. I think he will go to a team with  a solid #1 QB, so that they can bring him back slowly so that he can physically he reps in and go from there. He probably will start out as the #3-4 QB...FOR NOW!!! Then he can learn the playbook, move up to #3, then take over the #2 by week 8, 9 or even 10 games. They will keep him at #3, so they can keep him "low key."  Either way the team that gets him will keep 3 QBs until he gets past the league suspension of 5 games.

J/K it doesn't matter what they bhave him as, it will be hoopla full of media, dogleashes, signs and all the other BS. He served his time, penalized by the commish, I wish he luck in his adjustment back into the NFL.
