Title: Favre tracker Post by StegRock on May 7th, 2009, 5:11pm Look, I for one do NOT intend to update this thread every time the breezes (read, not winds) of change waft (read, not blow) through (hence, the commencement of this thread just today). BUT, when I read a fantastic, WELL-THOUGHT-OUT, and well-written for that matter, piece that avoids the extremes and represents the middle ground and, moreover, middle way this well, I feel compelled to share it. In this instance, I am very proud to say, "From 'The REAL Feed'": Line of Scrimmage: Favre Detractors Are Missing the Point (http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=nfl/news/news.aspx?id=4230675) The Sports Network: NFL (07.05.2009 12:34) Well done, Mr. Moss! Title: Re: Favre tracker Post by StegRock on May 8th, 2009, 10:37pm In stark contrast to the intelligent piece linked to above,... ... basically, yesterday was one big detour. There was not a shred of substance to the "report" that the "highly-esteemed" "news source" Yahoo.com (an internet search engine at heart), who can't help but show their zombie-like [smiley=zombie.gif] support for the Democratic party inappropriately via their RSS feed (as you can see on "The REAL Feed (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/newsstand.htm)", but I digress...), "broke" yesterday. We, ESPN should have known better than to give these hacks too much credit for a breaking report. In short, what happened yesterday was some knucklehead, to whom Yahoo somehow has given a license to "report", merely learned of Childress's not leaving Minnesota for a visit with Favre, which, mind you, was not 100% in stone anyway, and, then, extrapolated from that shaky premise all the way to "Report: Favre to stay retired"... as if he was writing the definitive end of the story and to Favre's career. [smiley=pullleeeeeeeze.gif] Meanwhile, it was just complete conjecture... as today proved to be the case. :-/ |

Title: Re: Favre tracker Post by StegRock on May 15th, 2009, 12:36am I take this as a bottom-line matter to a Favre comeback and, thus, worth reporting... Currently topping "The REAL Feed": Sources: Brett Favre consults Dr. James Andrews about injury (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4167747&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines) ESPN: NFL (14.05.2009 21:58) Quarterback Brett Favre consulted renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews regarding options for healing the torn biceps tendon in his throwing shoulder this week, according to a source. |

Title: Re: Favre tracker Post by StegRock on May 18th, 2009, 4:57pm Again, this is follow-up to the report immediately above and is significant news insofar as it is surely, substantively indicative of a comeback... From "The REAL Feed": Report: Brett Favre expected to undergo surgery on biceps tendon (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4175616&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines) ESPN: NFL (18.05.2009 15:34) Brett Favre will meet with renowned orthopedic surgeon James Andrews on Tuesday in Alabama to discuss surgery on his throwing shoulder expected to be performed later this week, the St. Paul Pioneer Press has reported. |

Title: Re: Favre tracker Post by StegRock on May 19th, 2009, 2:49am Oh, brother... Now, I too am getting sucked in... [smiley=downthetubes.gif] But, I feel like I have to report this since I made the post above. That said, I don't think, like most of these dumb-ass, up-to-the-second reports I promised (myself) not to fall victim to, it changes the bottom line, namely that he'll play as long as the Vikings want him and he is physically able to... Currently topping "The REAL Feed": Source: Brett Favre surgery not imminent after all (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4176703&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines) ESPN: NFL (18.05.2009 23:34) Sources tell ESPN's Ed Werder that Brett Favre will not meet with Dr. James Andrews on Tuesday and surgery is not imminent. Sheesh... :-/ I'm already sick and tired of appending meaningless reports to this thread... |

Title: Re: Favre tracker Post by StegRock on Jun 8th, 2009, 2:37am This is a sure indication that "something's" brewing... Title: Re: Favre tracker Post by StegRock on Jun 10th, 2009, 7:38pm Despite yesterday's "hype" to the contrary, I knew this was the case... Title: Re: Favre tracker Post by StegRock on Jun 11th, 2009, 3:56pm I'm posting this update sort of against my better judgment, but I do think this short report has something to say if you read between the lines... Title: Re: Favre tracker Post by StegRock on Jun 17th, 2009, 9:51pm Here's what the puters have to say about "Favre-to-the-Vikes"... according to "The REAL Feed": Favre improves cyber Vikings (http://min.scout.com/2/872975.html) Scout.com > NFL > National Football League Team (17.06.2009 06:53) A computer simulation run 10,000 times with and without Brett Favre shows him producing better statistics and a better record for the Vikings in 2009. Title: Re: Favre tracker Post by StegRock on Jun 20th, 2009, 4:50am Is it me or does this have the distinct sound of a coach talking about one of his players? Title: Re: Favre tracker Post by PrimeTime on Jun 20th, 2009, 2:56pm I agree it seems like it was a forgone conclusion he would end up in Minn this year. What I can't figure out is why they traded for Sage Rosenfels? What will there QB depth chart look like? 1 - Favre 2 - Rosenfels 3 - Jackson Are they totally giving up on Jackson? |

Title: Re: Favre tracker Post by StegRock on Jul 23rd, 2009, 2:50pm I'm VERY wary about the substance of this report... But, I just got to post it for shits and giggles... From "The REAL Feed": Sources: Brett Favre conflicted about resuming career as deadline nears (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4350876&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines) ESPN: NFL (23.07.2009 12:22) With the Vikings scheduled to report to training camp in less than a week, Brett Favre remains anguished about whether he should come out of retirement and join the team, according to sources. I've had a response to this for some time, Primer. I'm sorry for just now getting around to it... The timing, as you know, has been a bit rough... But, I digress... I think the answer to the last question may end up (de facto) being yes. As for the Rosenfels thing, I just think,... thought from day one,... it was just doofy... and desperate. My ultimate take here,... if Favre does come in, it'll be Favre for a year or two, maybe even three. He will then toward the end mentor and then hand it off to a well-groomed John David Booty, whose game sort of resembles Favre's somehow. I will add this about Jackson... I do think they are bailing on the guy too fast. I think the guy's game has upswing, but, on the other hand, I'm almost convinced that he isn't well suited to the Viking's (present) offensive scheme. Alright,... over and out... |
