Title: Rookie Draft Next Year Post by Pakman on Nov 20th, 2002, 12:15pm Has anyone started thinking about next year's draft? ??? I know it's a little early, but I love the draft and was wondering what your thoughts were on any studs coming out this year. I don't know what anyone else thinks, but I think that next year might be a weak rookie draft. The only RBs that I think may have an impact are Willis McGahee, Larry Johnson ???, and Chris Brown ??? WRs - Charles Rogers, Roy Williams QBs - Byron Leftwich (not really sold on him), Carson Palmer (see above) |

Title: Re: Rookie Draft Next Year Post by BarnabyWilde on Nov 20th, 2002, 2:14pm Glad you asked Pakman! Soon as the season ends, I'll be doing features on college players who are coming into the NFL next year who have the potential to make a fantasy impact. I'm looking at starting it right after the Superbowl. I'll try to post one a day (if I can). Posts will include their college stats and where they have been going in mock drafts, their potential to start right away etc... If there are any players you'd like to see, just send me a private message! B.W. |

Title: Re: Rookie Draft Next Year Post by BarnabyWilde on Dec 4th, 2002, 1:30pm I really like him too. Depending where I draft in the rookie lottery in my keeper league next year, I'd like to select him. |

Title: Re: Rookie Draft Next Year Post by DOLFAN on Dec 4th, 2002, 10:58pm MCgahee will have a huge impact if he goes to the right team. Rogers could be another STallworth, and WIlliams runs great routes also. Whichever QB CHI takes wil play early/often and has a solid core of WRs if they keep Booker who is a free agent at yrs end. |

Title: Re: Rookie Draft Next Year Post by DirkDiggler on Dec 7th, 2002, 11:38am I was looking at the top 25 seniors ranked by Mel Kiper. Only one running back ranked in top 25. That one person would be Lee Suggs. I sure do hope that some more junior running backs declare!! |

There is strong possibility that the Pats take this kid to solve the lack of a running stud for years to come. Personally, I think he could be had at 13, and the Pats go defensive line at 20. They also will be getting 3 or 4 comp picks throughout this draft, and will be able to really load up on D, with an offensive lineman or two thrown into the mix. Should come out with great depth on both sides of the ball IMO. |

Title: Re: Rookie Draft Next Year Post by Keyshawn Johnson 76yards on Jan 2nd, 2003, 10:27pm Larry Johnson is going to be a huge bust. He looked terrible against good defenses. He looked OK against mediocre defenses, and he looked incredible against terrible defenses. In the NFL, only one or two teams have terrible defenses. The rest are mediocre and great. If he can't perform in the college level, how will he be able to perform in the pro level? Also, most of his yardage came from sweep runs. In the NFL. it's really hard to get good yardage out of sweep runs. I dunno my 2cents... |

Title: Re: Rookie Draft Next Year Post by DOLFAN on Jan 3rd, 2003, 11:19am I like all the RBs, QBs usually take to long to show up from a fantasy standpoint. The WRs will depend on which team they go to. Satllworth is a stud, but was in the right situation. Javon Walker should post better #s next year as Glenn is phased out. KOren is finally coming on too. I too think more JR RBs need to come out or it will be a weak class. |

Title: Re: Rookie Draft Next Year Post by DirkDiggler on Jan 9th, 2003, 8:46pm looks like the pool of players is getting better. With the Georgia running back and now this: NCAA | Brown Switching Gears? - posted at KFFL 13:52 PT: The AP reports Colorado RB Chris Brown has met with his family about forgoing his senior season and making himself eligible for the 2003 NFL draft. He had earlier said he would return to school. "He's rethinking his decision," Colorado sports information director Dave Plati said Wednesday. "He's going to look at all the possibilities involved." Coach Gary Barnett, who appeared confident a month ago that Brown would return next season, has told media outlets he now believes Brown is leaning toward turning pro |

Title: Re: Rookie Draft Next Year Post by Keyshawn Johnson 76yards on Jan 9th, 2003, 9:12pm Sad to not see McGahee in next year's draft. I'm positive he would have made an instant impact in the NFL. The guy I think to look out for this year's draft, is Miami WR Andre Johnson (Not positive if that's his first name.) Other then that, I never draft a rookie in my fantasy draft. I like to take risks, but not that type of risk. I let the Waiver Wire be my friend on deciding whether or not to take a rookie. As for Carson Palmer, chances are, he's going to be drafted by the Bengals. So, he's already a bust if he gets drafted by them. |
