Post by StegRock on Jan 1st, 2003, 1:10am
Well, happy 2003, boyz!  Let's put to use those official "bragging rights" we are given here "between the 20's"!

As some of you might have gathered from some of my other recent posts, I have been closing in on, or should I say backing into, the GBRFL League Championship here for awhile.  Well, mission accomplished!  A 19 - 10 record was enough to make StegRock your 2002 GBRFL League Champ!  Here are the links to our "Game Results" and "Standings" pages if you want to see how it all went down, or should I say how all my homeboyz went down on me [smiley=rollinwithlaughter.gif] :

Week-by-week Game Results - http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/gbrfl/results.htm

Standings - http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/gbrfl/standings.htm

Here is our "Champions" page:

http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/gbrfl/champions.htm

This was kind of my "public announcement"!  If you want to see into the inner sanctum... the real shit-talkin', feel free to drop on by:

http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cgi-bin/theGridiron/YaBB.cgi?board=53;action=display;num=1041226875

NOW, it's your turn, fellow Gridironers!  Boast away and show off the bright minds we have around this joint!  Include relevant links wherever possible.

I had a pretty decent year, although I stunk up the QFL with a 3-11 record, good for last place.  :-[

I won my CBS league with a 14-2 record.

I won my Yahoo league with a 12-5 record.

I won my total points league by 25 points. Moved from 3rd to 1st in week 16 with a huge week and without Holmes for the end of the season.

I played in 4 leagues this season... (2) CBSSportsline "Head to Head" leagues and (2) The Sporting News "Basic Fantasy Football" leagues.

I made it to the Superbowl in my CBS leagues, but ended up finishing second in both w/ 11-5 records overall. :-[ :'(

But...

I won both of my Sporting News leagues with a world ranking of 11,061 in the first and 1,930 in the second.:o (not bad considering there were nearly 500,000 people playing and we had a "no buying trades" rule in both leagues). ;D

I won my Yahoo league Super Bowl 105 to 104.75, a great game with a prize of $425, and I won the Super Bowl in our QFL League for a $300 dollar prize.......Even my wife can't complain with money like that coming in.........lol.......Win or lose.......every fantasy football season is well worth it!

4 leagues

8-team $ league. Superbowl Champ, 2nd Regular season with a 10-3 record, good for $171.00. 767 pointsFinal year for the touchdown only scoring. Instead of a flat 100 yards for 3 it'll be a rather stingy 1/25 rush/rec and a real tight 1/75 passing.

10 team total points $$ league - Last years champ, this years Chump! By a LARGE margin. 'Nuff about that! :-X

12 team Geek league (a) - 9th and didn't even make the playoffs. 4th highest scorer, but when McNabb went down, so did my season.

12 team Geek league (b) - 1st in reg season, Super bowl LOSER. Again, 4th in scoring.

I point out the xth in scoring for each and ask why?, why the hell did I finish no lower than 4th in scoring in all but the total points league?  [smiley=gettinhammered.gif]

Mr. OH I think it is called Murphys Law.  The same reason I finished 12-1, + 257 points and got whacked in the 2nd rd. of one league and missed the play offs in another on the 3rd tie breaker being in the division with the only team with a better record. In my Yahoo! Winners League, I finished first only to be knocked out in the first round. The score you ask?

Me- 45

Opponent- 120

Yep...  [smiley=bonghit.gif] [smiley=bonghit.gif] [smiley=bonghit.gif]

Ok StegRock I give up.

Captain Lou and the Demolition are the
2002 Crystal Ball League Champions.

The Crystal Ball League is made up of 12
invited mockers over at FFToday. This mock
takes place in June, and we actually track
production based on a best ball format. This
goes on for the entire season.

After a close second place finish in 2001, Demolition
had a very strong draft, and the team carried first
place from week two until the final gun of week 17.

Damn I'm proud of my guys. This was a true team effort.

Played in 2 leagues. Won both.
CBSSportsLine and Yahoo.
1st-time ever to win 2 in the same season.

Bailed in my "real-world" big time money $$$ league this year (co-workers, friends, etc.).
A new commissioner talked everyone into a "keeper league" and muated it into an almost rotisserie-style baseball thing. No thanks.

I have to ask you something in my ongoing pursuit to understand the (contemporary) meaning/understanding of the word "rotisserie."  I know how I have used it and what I really mean by it, but when I see someone using the term for the apparent purpose of differentiation (from some other style of "fantasy" play), I become perplexed.  So, SW, what do you specifically mean when you use the term "rotisserie-style" as you did above?  Anybody else wanting to chime is welcome!

Wow. $350 is a pretty good "haul".
What's your league's entry fee? How many players?
Is it all-or-nothing, or do you get money at different stages? (1st in division, playoff win(s), SB win, etc.)
The biggest $ league I've played in is 10 owners, $100 entry + $1.00 per transaction.
The transaction fees paid for the party, and maybe $500 was the most you could probably win.
