Title: ***NFL Draft Player Preview: Carson Palmer***
Post by BarnabyWilde on Jan 13th, 2003, 3:49pm
Carson Palmer
Quarterback
USC
6-5, 235 pounds

No single person improved their stock this season than Palmer. He has the height and strength to be a big time NFL quarterback. He matured a great deal this year and also improved his consistency. He played in a good system in college that will help him in the pros as well.
Not a threat to run at all, but can scramble if the pocket falls apart. Was a four year starter for the Trojans.

Projected in the draft: More than likey could end up going number one to Cincinnati if the Bengals don't stick with Kitna, or could slip to number four to Chicago.

I hope the Bangles will stick with Kitna and use the draft to fix other problems.  Kitna ain't Boomer but he ain"t bad. [smiley=doseofreality.gif]

I totally agree. I guess we will have to wait and see who becomes the head coach and the offensive coordinator. They have some nice players on offense (Dillon, Johnson, Warrick)and if Lewis becomes the head coach, he'll get the defense in order (once again, they have some nice players on D too: Spikes, Simmons, Justin Smith)

If I were the Bengals, I'd trade down, maybe with the Raiders and get two first rounders to fix the secondary and O-line.

Hey now!   >:(  Don't be planting ideas in Raider faithful heads that they have a life after this season. This is a bad thing. A very bad thing.  ;)

If Carson Palmer goes to Cincinatti his career is ruined. He should think about pulling an Elway or a Steve Francis on the Bengals if they do draft him.  [smiley=toocool.gif]

If I was the Bengals GM, I would name Kitna the starter. Alot of the vets are unhappy with the revolving quarterback situation. They don't need to waste another top pick ona QB. Best scenario is to trade down. Maybe the Raider trade isn't an option, but how about trading down to Carolina or Chicago, getting a few extra picks out of it, and taking, say, Kansas State Cornerback Terence Newman? He is the best pure corner in the draft and ready to start now. Then fill in other holes with their extra picks. It's too bad their GM Mike Brown isn't that smart.

Is there any way we all here could pool our resources and buy the Bengals in the name of "the Gridiron"? ;D We could then give the stadium one of those panache (sterile) corporate names like "'the Gridiron' Stadium of Greater Cincinnati"!  At least if we ran the team into the ground, we'd have a good time doin' it (not to say that Mike Brown [smiley=smileytrash.gif] isn't)!

Seriously, I would trade for Corey Dillon in any fantasy league I played in and run on him on every fuckin' play... hell, I'd have him catchin' balls left and right and throwin' the ball too.  He'd end up with a minimum of 650 rushes, 200 balls thrown-to and 250 pass attempts (50 to himself) [smiley=gonecrazy.gif] and the Bengals would probably still win more than 2 games. [smiley=doseofreality.gif]

You had to know there was some kind of master plan with all this "the Gridiron" bullshit that Steggie's throwin' out there! [smiley=deal.gif] [smiley=wiseguy.gif] [smiley=sneaky.gif] ;)
[smiley=laugh.gif] [smiley=rollinwithlaughter.gif] [smiley=LMFAO.gif] (Hey, it's the "Comedy Club Gang!"  They laugh their asses off at anything. [smiley=laugh.gif] [smiley=rollinwithlaughter.gif] [smiley=LMFAO.gif] See!  I think I am eventually going to make a graphic with all three of these little guys on it together so it's a one-clicker. [smiley=yes.gif] )

I thought this piece contributed to this debate very much so; it is the bottom part of the article that is of particular relevance to the topic of this thread and is definitely worth the read:

I really respect Takeo's candor!

Maybe the Bengals are getting smart! Hiring Bill Tobin as a scouting consultant! Not a bad move on their part!!
