Title: Stats Services Post by PA Outlaws on May 6th, 2003, 1:50pm Just curious if any of you use any sort of a stat service for your leagues. I would like to find a site that keeps all stats for a league. We don't need anything else, but something to keep our stats. I would like to find a site that the stats would be calculated for you according to your system and then they could be uploaded directly to a website for posting. Any info would be appreciated! Title: Re: Stats Services Post by StegRock on May 6th, 2003, 2:32pm Well, here is my first thought! Since the SBFFL is a homespun effort, I would suggest, like I have done for the GBRFL and CBFL, just taking the one afternoon or so that it would take to make a spreadsheet that calculates scores for your exact system. Fringe benefit, this allows you guys to tweak things in any way you want whenever you want. It puts the ball totally in your court, making the SBFFL much more self-sufficient, and yet it requires just a little extra effort. As for the stats to fill in these spreadsheet programs, I have used the "Raw Stats" service at the following site for four full seasons now and am very pleased: TQStats.com (http://www.tqstats.com/). The raw stats can be customized exactly to your spreadsheet, and it costs a lousy $50 per season. To see how this manifests, visit the GBRFL and/or CBFL "Results" pages and download a spreadsheet: http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/gbrfl/results.htm; http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cbfl/results.htm. Now, I also think that TQStats will "process" the stats according to your league's scoring system for you (but I am sure, like most other services, there are limitations, which would probably not allow the inclusion of any quirky, unique scoring rules you might have, which is the case with the GBRFL). I think that service runs $99 per season. I have never used it, so I cannot say anything more. I can give you further help if you need it! [smiley=bow.gif] You know the deal, PA... general quick question, ask me here... "tede," preferably by horn. I am sure on this thread you will hear about all the usual options. But, in all sincerity, I think people's doing it on their own adds so much more to the hobby! It is just more unique, "creative energy" going into things vis-a-vis more reliance on "cookie-cutter" sites, which do limit your options and, thus, your "frame of mind". Run those stats on your own and the sky is the limit for your scoring system. You (realize you) can do anything you want, and you just won't be "boxed in," stuck thinking "in the box" only, "the box" being the typical, commonplace, unoriginal scoring systems that are used in 99 out of 100 leagues today (usually by way of a commissioner.com). After making your spreadsheet, and freeing yourself from "the box," you will see ALL the possibilities both in and "outside the box." [smiley=zenmaster.gif] |

Thanks for the support, ZAGS! It really is the way to go! BUT, as for the stats, you are going to have to pay someone for that unless you guys want (someone) to be inputtin' them yourselves (himself). I have been there back in the day! It is VERY time-consuming! You at least want to be cutting-and-pasting, and preferably you want to have it set up to insert the stats automatically, something I am finally going to be implementing this upcoming season because our esteemed member bgsgfan gave me some assistance... I honestly did not know how to make it do that. Heretofore, I was just "cutting and pasting," which wasn't too bad, took me about three hours per week to run the stats for the two leagues I run. |

Title: Re: Stats Services Post by theWave on May 7th, 2003, 9:40am Believe me, $100 per season is nothing when you factor all of the time/money spend on supplies. |

Title: Re: Stats Services Post by theWave on May 7th, 2003, 9:41am As I said on the other site, $50 per season is more than worth it for stats. We're saving $50 on our budget and getting a lot more in the long run. |

Title: Re: Stats Services Post by PA Outlaws on May 7th, 2003, 11:57am I have checked TQStats and it is $99.00 per season. I'll keep looking for other stat services. Any help would be appreciated! [smiley=silence.gif] |

NO! STOP LOOKING! For the "RAW STATS" it is $50! Go to the following page and look down on the page: http://football.tqstats.com/services.pl! Think! I said I have been using this service for FOUR years! Would I have lied or been that clueless? Argh! [smiley=dejected.gif] |

Title: Re: Stats Services Post by FourTwoOh on May 7th, 2003, 4:40pm Statsworld is what I've used for years. It's officialy "league management software" but the stats are part of it. www.statsworld.com You can download the full software for free, every years stats since 1995 for free, and then play with it this year for draft prep. Sweet! If you like it it's $20 bucks for "coach" version which get's you the weekly stats in season, or the $50 for the "commisioner" version and thaat gets you some extra reports and treasurey type features. Give it a download, at worst you end with a sortable database of stats for 8 years, customized to your scoring system, for nothing! |

Title: Re: Stats Services Post by PA Outlaws on May 8th, 2003, 8:14am I agree with the Wave! If we can find a good site for $50 (I have already found some!) we should do it. Thanks again for all of your help guys! |

Title: Re: Stats Services Post by ZAGS on May 8th, 2003, 8:26am If we can find a good one for less than $50, I am all for it. I just don't wan't to drop CBS, then use all the money we just saved and put it into a stats service. [smiley=yes.gif] |

Title: Re: Stats Services Post by Daunte Williams on May 8th, 2003, 10:26am I am on board with everything as long as we do get a dependable stats service to use because as stated before "stats should not be done by hand". We are not in the days of the EFFFL any longer, so there is no need to digress. Bring on the stats and the new season. [smiley=strollin.gif] |

Title: Re: Stats Services Post by sporto on May 8th, 2003, 6:34pm I'm sure you checked them all but are the $50 stat services as good the $100 service? ??? |
