Title: CBFL "Mock" Draft - "Public Announcement" Post by StegRock on Jun 27th, 2003, 5:20pm Fellas, the first-ever "official" mock draft on "the Gridiron", which will be the basis for the CBFL, will commence on Monday, June 30th and two spots remain somewhat up in the air! As such, I have decided to find out what interest/enthusiasm exists on the parts of our members in general. So, if you are interested in participating in this very fun and somewhat historic mock draft here on "the Gridiron" and playing in this very fun and unique site-sponsored league, express you interest on this thread. For further information, visit the CBFL site located at: http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cbfl/. In particular, you would want to check out the "Rules/Scoring" page. |

Title: Re: CBFL "Mock" Draft - "Public Announcement" Post by Jetdoc on Jun 27th, 2003, 5:32pm Where will we hold the draft? On the CBFL part of your message board, or on another thread on the "between the 20's" board? When will you set the draft order? Inquiring minds, as always, want to know... [smiley=alcoholic.gif] |

Title: Re: CBFL "Mock" Draft - "Public Announcement" Post by DocNiner52 on Jun 27th, 2003, 5:38pm I'd be interested. Sounds like fun. No headaches about who to start each week. I know I haven't posted much yet, but I'm gettin' better. I know Jetdoc, Captain Lou and Megla from being on FFToday's team in the Interboard Challenge League. I've read all the info on the site and it all seems fine to me. If you need any more info or anything else my e-mail is dhumpy52@aol.com or DocNiner52@yahoo.com |

Title: Re: CBFL "Mock" Draft - "Public Announcement" Post by StegRock on Jun 27th, 2003, 5:41pm Jet, those questions were answered in a correspondence I sent out last night: "Mock" Draft itself - on the CBFL Board; "Commentary/Cheatsheets" thread - here "between the 20's"; "Rosters" - at the CBFL site on the "Rosters" page. PLEASE read through any correspondences I send you thoroughly, guys. Taking time to report on things twice is taxing and inefficient. That's why, though my messages may be a bit verbose, they cover ALL bases that need to be known about at the given time. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation! [smiley=bow.gif] |

Title: Re: CBFL "Mock" Draft - "Public Announcement" Post by Keyshawn Johnson 76yards on Jun 27th, 2003, 6:27pm Steg, if I read the e-mail correctly, this will not all go on one day, instead, kinda of like the current mock draft running. This may be a problem for me, since I leave for Spain this Tuesday, I think, July 2. I don't want to just to send an entire list when instead someone else can have my spot and be active. |

Title: Re: CBFL "Mock" Draft - "Public Announcement" Post by StegRock on Jun 27th, 2003, 6:39pm Yes, that is the case, KJ. I would expect it to take us 10 to 14 days to complete. July 2nd is actually Wednesday, but whatever. If you are only going to lose that one day and can submit a short list to get you through it and be able to do it while in Spain, that would be okay by me. Actually, that would "internationalize" it even more, which I think is really cool; potentially, one of our guys will be doing it from Korea. But, if that is not going to work for you, PLEASE let me know and [smiley=bow.gif] out now as, at this point, time is of the essence. Thank you! |

Title: Re: CBFL "Mock" Draft - "Public Announcement" Post by Keyshawn Johnson 76yards on Jun 27th, 2003, 7:10pm I could send a list, but it is highly unlikely i'd be able to submit draft picks from Spain, on time, anyways. |

Title: Re: CBFL "Mock" Draft - "Public Announcement" Post by StegRock on Jun 27th, 2003, 7:59pm I can put you on one end of the draft, like I will with my bud in Korea, so that you can make your picks two at a time. Otherwise, I think you should bow out, KJ. I mean I am not going to implement special rules for you; I am not for the guy in Korea, either, and, ultimately, the schedule has to be made favorable for the guys in American time zones as those are the guys who primarily comprise the draft. Sorry! |

So this isn't really a random draft order?? Quote:
Or is it random?? I'm not sure what you mean by putting your guy in Korea at one end or the other, then saying that no special rules are being implemented...? I'm not crazy about the idea of someone automatically getting the #1 overall pick just because they are in a different time zone... |

Thanks, bg. ;) Steg, I'm not asking for any special rules to be implemented for me. I merely asked if it would be best for me to stay in the draft and send in a list, or withdraw and allow someone else to pick. |

Title: Re: CBFL "Mock" Draft - "Public Announcement" Post by StegRock on Jun 27th, 2003, 8:58pm Philly, PLEASE don't twist my words and make me pay for the good deed of my being forthright. I meant that I am not going to implement any special RULES for anybody with regards to time zones as they affect the schedule/pacing of the draft. I am, however, willing to extend my hand out to those who may be a little, well, "time-zone" challenged and give them draft positions that make it easier on them just like Mike at FFToday did for me last year when I was in Korea and he gave me the first pick overall. Not to mention, this is a total freebie, web site and all, and I, myself, am not participating. So, who cares how I make up the draft order? It's not like it's a conspiracy or anything. I just hope Chili does not see all this as it will probably make him feel bad and not want to do it, thinking he is putting us out. |

KJ, a list is fine to get you through the one day you will be in transit. But, bottom line, if the above is really your sitch for the whole time after you arrive in Spain, you should bow out. |

I wasn't trying to twist your words... it seemed as though your words were contradictory, so I was just looking for a little clarification. As for giving someone the first overall pick, well, I'm not crazy about it, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it and it won't affect my feelings about the CBFL at all... And if it is the only way to include Chili D, then go ahead and do it. |

I am getting the last pick again. I paid Stegey $.02 to get the last pick. [smiley=rollinwithlaughter.gif] I agree though that if he feels he can't get net service and make his picks in a timely manner because of his move to Spain, maybe you can put him on the list for next year or something. just my $.02. Let's get it on. [smiley=boxer.gif]I'm ready to go. [smiley=ready4war.gif] |

Title: Re: CBFL "Mock" Draft - "Public Announcement" Post by StegRock on Jun 28th, 2003, 1:53am With specific regards to that last post, note this following excerpt from the CBFL "Rules/Scoring" page: Starting in 2003, as the CBFL will become a "main event" of sorts on "the Gridiron" and other forum members may want the opportunity to join in, the bottom 3 teams (25% of the league) in the final standings will NOT be invited back for the following season. They will be allowed to reenter the pool of candidates only after one full season has passed. So, three of you scallions are feelin' the pain next year anyway, and three new guys will be brought aboard. |

Title: Re: CBFL "Mock" Draft - "Public Announcement" Post by bgsgfan on Jun 28th, 2003, 9:25am Steg - Under the Starting lineups you state, " With one week off at the positions of TE, PK and D/ST due to bye." Should TE be included with PK and D/ST in that rule when every team will have 2 of them regardless of their swing picks? |

Title: Re: CBFL "Mock" Draft - "Public Announcement" Post by StegRock on Jun 28th, 2003, 11:50am NO, bg! THANKS for catching that! [smiley=thumbsup.gif] When tweaking Mike's old rules, I missed that. Anyway, I got right on it... [smiley=onit.gif] and it is all fixed now! [smiley=bow.gif] [smiley=proudAmerican.gif] There was actually another error that Philly caught a couple days ago. So, PLEASE, all of you, be on the lookout for that kind of stuff. [smiley=bow.gif] |

THANK YOU, Tone-man! For those of you that got that e-mail from me the other day, things have quite unexpectedly gone down hill. I never heard from Captain Lou and Chili D. has not gotten back to me to finally confirm. Those of you who received that e-mail know that those were spots #'s 10 & 11 that I was kind of reserving. Then, there is KJ's unexpected needing to back out. So, I started sending e-mails to (quite a number of) guys who expressed interest before. NO RESPONSES, yet, NOT A ONE! HOWEVER, Tony here has saved the day. He makes 11 and either Chili D. or I will make 12. So, we should be good to go. BUT, you will have to plan on being around more for the CBFL draft than you all were for BW's IDP mock. We will maintain a "steady" pace and there will be, albeit fairly liberal, time limits. I will elaborate on this later. So, ALL else will be comin' at you all later this evening. I gotta' couple things I need to address both regarding here and otherwise and I'd like to quickly hit the beach this evening. I really need a dip, no, not that nasty chew shit, a [smiley=drown.gif] ! |

Title: Re: CBFL "Mock" Draft - "Public Announcement" Post by DOLFAN on Jun 29th, 2003, 5:55pm DD i too would like to have Mr Stegey in it. Unfortunately he was 3rd from last last year in this league and got booted per the league rules. I think though if all else fails he would gladly use himself as a reserve. That is an interesting rule to have, i kinda like it. Too bad he hasn't back from last years winner Capt Lou. This league will be fun! |
