This is just speculation considering I don't know your scoring system.  You are VERY weak at RB after Portis (who was an awesome pick at #5).  Your receivers are one of the best groups I've seen on one team.  TEs are solid.  QBs are average, but not bad.

I'd definitely try to upgrade your RBs if you can... you could trade from your WR depth.

Stud WR's, but your running backs after Portis, leave something to be desired!!!!  No depth at all.  Zeroue and Canidate could be in running back by committees.  Snith is a rookie who may or may not get the start....  You are a gambler I see.

I personally am not too keen on your QB's either.

But if you can start 4 WR, you are in great shape! (or MAKE A TRADE NOW!!!)

Well, first off, welcome to "the Gridiron"!  I hope you enjoy your times here!

As for your team, it does appear, unlike some people I've seen post on FF message boards, that you draft against real humans, not your pet dog, your 4-year-old daughter and a balloon with a face drawn on it. [smiley=LMFAO.gif]

VERY generally speaking, it looks like you went receiver-heavy after opening with a great first pick of RB Clinton Portis.  Harrison, then, is a great 2nd-round pick.  But, Canidate, Zereoue and O. Smith are far from being shoes in to have good seasons.  Zereoue and Canidate particularly concern me.  You should be fine at QB with Maddox and Holcomb.  But, you are probably going to need to make a WR-for-RB deal down the line unless you get lucky with your dice-roll.

Welcome aboard blaino! [smiley=cheers.gif]

I agree with the rest of the group. You need to do something about your RB situation. With so many quality WR's on your team, there are bound to be other teams in desperate need of them (probably the guys with all the RB's). Try and work out a deal. With all your depth, you could afford to trade Harrison and still have a great WR squad. Test the market and see what you can do. Good luck.

That's exactly what I thought.  the draft was going pretty much according to plan, but all the RB's were going quick.  I said to heck with it and pick 5 of my top 15 WR's for future trades. I was really hoping to get William Green in Rd. 4 but he went 2 picks before me.  Thanks for the input guys.

How many teams in this league blaino? 8, 10 or 12?

First off, could you let us know your scoring system, how many players start at each position, and how many teams you have in your league?

Don't listen to the people that posted before me.  I believe they meant well, but did not take the time to read your whole team.  Onterrio Smith in the 11th round was an absolute steal!  With the group of Canidate, Zereoue, and Onterrio Smith you are set... having the WR corps you have.  You played it smart and waited until later to pick up your QBs, good job!  Holcombe might have been a reach, but I don't know how the draft went beyond your team.

Let's be serious, Harrison is a steal in middle of second round, and if he was available then, ALL the good RBs were gone by the 3.05 pick.  You went the best route you could at that point and got 3 RBs that were available in the value range.

Don't give up on Onterrio Smith before week 5 or 6, and definitely do not start him until he proves himself.

Don't give away your WRs no matter what!  Look for trades, but be stingy.

Uhh... I did indeed look over his ENTIRE team and I stand by my post. Chances are he will only be starting 2 or 3 WR's... What good are the rest if they're sitting on the bench? If he could trade 1 or 2 WR's for a quality RB, it would greatly improve his team. You may have faith in his young and unproven RB's, but if it were my team, I'd be looking to upgrade. I'm not criticizing his draft... this year was very strange with all the RB's going early... it forced people to take different strategies. He did well in securing all the WR studs, now he needs to cash in.

I should have put a smiley in there to indicate slight sarcasm.  [smiley=letsmakeup.gif]

I do stand by my assessment of his draft, based on the way drafts are going this year.

Assuming a 10 team league with close to standard scoring and lineups and normal draft tendencies (lots of assumptions):

Portis - awesome with 5th overall
Harrison - very good at 2.06
Ward - OK at 3.05, probably all the sought after RBs through Eddie George have been taken - next RBs are Stewart and A-Train (and what is difference between them and what he has)
Robinson - Very good at 4.06, and I am not a Robinson fan... but better than Stewart or A-Train
Rod Smith - Good pick at 5.05
Trung Canidate - 6.06 - I like Stacey mack better in this range, but we are finally getting to see value in the RB position with guys like Mack, Canidate, and Hambrick
Tommy Maddox - Good value in QBs at this point also (my personal favorite is Plummer, but who knows?)
Zereoue - Another of the backs that represent good value here
Holcombe - this was a reach, unless draft was in Cleveland area or populate by Browns fans you could have gotten him later, probably
McMichael - second tier TE, good value in these second tier TEs - they still produce well and will be drafted only slightly ahead of the pack
Onterrio Smith - ABSOLUTE STEAL

Now you play the matchups with the 3 RBs for the second spot; 2 QBs for one spot; 4 WRs for 2 or 3 spots.  A trade for a top flight RB would be good, but do not give too much for it.  Do not give up on Onterrio Smith before the first half of the season.

If this is a 10 team draft you did well, 12 team you did awesome (contingent on starting lineups).

Also, Denver has an absolutely awesome schedule through week 7 for FF WRs.  Look to trade Rod Smith around that point though as I forecast him being in the top 5 to 10 WRs and the schedule gets rougher from then on.

Minnesota's schedule looks to be incredibly easy for RBs at the end of the year (playoff time).  If he is looking good and getting the most playing time and Bennett has not come back, Onterrio Smith will light it up!  He could easily be in the 20-35 range in FF scoring around week 10 and be one of the top 5 backs the last 6 weeks of the season.

Good Luck!

10 team league Start 1QB 2RB 3WR 2TE 1D 1K

Passing:
1 point every 25 yds passing
6 points touchdown
-1 interception.

Rushing
1 point every 10 yds
6 points touchdown
-1 fumbles lost

Receiving
1 point every 10 yds
6 points touchdown
-1 fumbles lost

This is a trade I'm working on
Holcombe, Canidate, and Ward for
Warner, Garner, and Tim Brown

Thats a good trade for you, and possibly for him too.  Is that his offer or yours?  If its his, I'd try to get him to accept someone other than Ward (I am biased though, Ward is my absolute favorite current NFL player).

Bofore you make that trade, check out the health of Garner.  He has a knee and/or leg problem that some say is more serious than the team is letting on.  If you do your homework and determine that Ganrer is OK, then I think the trade and your team will be in good shape.

Also remember that Justin Fargas will probably be Garner's backup in case his knee flares up you can pick up Fargas on your waiver wire.

I agree 100% with PrimeTime that you need to know Garner's condition first.  I actually do NOT like that trade at all.  Warner has looked good this preseason, but Holcomb is comin' on.  Ward versus Brown... [smiley=pullleeeeeeeze.gif] that's not even close!  And, yea, I like Garner more than Canidate, but not by that much, not by much at all actually.  You can make a MUCH better trade than that, especially if you are dishing Ward.

As much as I like Warner, I would not make that trade either. Garner is not healthy, and Ward is much much better than Brown.

You should be set for greatness with Harrison/Ward/Robinson as your starters...

I'd offer Coles, Smith, and (Canidate or Zereoue) to someone for a Stephen Davis/Curtis Martin/Corey Dillon type RB.  Then you can pick up a free agent WR to be your #4.
