Title: First time (big) money league, how'd I do? Post by CoachH on Aug 30th, 2003, 12:39pm Hey guys, most of you probably don't remember me, haven't posted in quite a while. I am a high school football coach and am very busy especially this time of year. I lurk, more than post. The big money is $100, probably not that big to some, but this is the first time I have actually been in a pay league. We start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1K, and 1 D. The scoring is traditional, head to head, all TD's score 6 - even passing. I think I have done fairly well. This was also my first live draft and kinda got caught up in the moment with some of my picks. I picked 5th and will list round by round picks. Forgot to mention (10 team league with about 6 that I can honestly say have a clue as to what they are doing). 1. Clinton Portis 2. Jamal Lewis 3. Eric Moulds 4. Fred Taylor 5. Koren Robinson 6. Aaron Brooks 7. Baltimor Ravens 8. Randy McMichaels 9. Rod Smith 10. Kerry Collins 11. Jason Elam 12. Onterrio Smith 13. Robert Ferguson 14. Stacey Mack 15. Ashlie Lelie 16. Chad Lewis Thanks for any input. Great site Steg! |

You represent "the Gridiron" well, my friend! :D By the way, thanks for the compliment on the site! [smiley=bow.gif] It goes a long way to making my day! ;D |

Title: Re: First time (big) money league, how'd I do? Post by bgsgfan on Aug 30th, 2003, 1:42pm Great Job! If all your RBs pan out, might look at moving one of Mack, Taylor, or Onterrio Smith to strengthen up your QB situation (either add a 3rd or improve on Brooks or collins). |

Title: Re: First time (big) money league, how'd I do? Post by Cirrinone on Aug 30th, 2003, 5:28pm Very nice team! I'd try and trade K-Rob and Fred Taylor for a better WR. You can afford to lose Fragile Fred because of your depth at RB. And for some reason I don't think K-Rob will produce. I think D-Jax will have a better year than him. So package K-Rob and Taylor and try and get someone like.. Burress maybe? Holt? Boston? Good luck! Your team looks great regardless! |

Title: Re: First time (big) money league, how'd I do? Post by Philly on Aug 30th, 2003, 10:35pm Just out of curiosity, it seems like a lot of people are questioning K-Rob this year... why? I think he will continue to build on the success he had last year. |

Title: Re: First time (big) money league, how'd I do? Post by CoachH on Aug 31st, 2003, 12:44am Thanks for all the replies. Let me justify some of my picks. Philly, I agree with you concerning K. Rob, I think he will be better this year than last, if not then R. Smith (unless I'm completely misjudging Plummer) will fill in nicely. bgsfan, my rationale for Brookes and Collins was to use Brookes early and then switch to Collins late in the season. It seems that Brookes plays great the first 9 weeks or so and then the Saints seem to fizzle. The Giants on the other hand always seem to put themselves in a position to where they must perform late to make the playoffs. Very good suggestion concerning trade packaging for a better QB. The better QB's really went much earlier than I anticipated, so I was happy with what was left. Cirrinone (very interesting screen name), with my RB depth Fraud Taylor is very expendable, I tend to disagree with you concerning K. Rob. What I really hope is that R. Smith or A. Lelie have a brilliant first few games and I can ditch one or both with Fragile for a stellar WR. I disagree with your choice of Boston. He scares me! Burress would be great, Holt would be ok. |
