Title: Playing 2 different fantasy opponents in ONE week. Post by KillerKingSting on May 8th, 2004, 4:43am I tried to find some articles or something of the "like" on the net regarding this subject and it's advantages/disadvan. To no avail, I found pretty much nothing (I was pooped and didn't try really hard though). [smiley=stars.gif] If anyone has any iput on this subject and it's rationale I would love to hear it. I am contemplating using it in my Insane Gang League [smiley=gonecrazy.gif]. We play a 17-game NFL regular sea. schedule. Then, our FF post season is played in the NFL post season. My thoughts are to make the last 4 games (weeks 14-17) a double opponent week for everyone because, I am thinking that would not only rev-up the end of the season engines of FF owners but also, give teams who might be a couple of games down - a chance to make up some much needed ground to push for the Post Season (we call it the Ghost Season [smiley=ghost.gif] -lose and your a Ghost - disappeared- missing in action). My concerns are that, if teams split games (win one lose one) then, whats the use of playing 2 games???? Whereas if they only play one game then, its either win or lose and so, would make a difference rather than a split that , wouldn't make a diff - no better off than you were the week before so to speak. Also, are there any disadvantages to smaller leagues (we are 8 for now) then, larger ones in using this added feature to the FF schedule? Thanks for any input guys and gals! |

Title: Re: Playing 2 different fantasy opponents in ONE w Post by bgsgfan on May 8th, 2004, 1:12pm The GBRFL and GBRFL2 use a schedule that has multiple opponents for some weeks. The GBRFL2 has only been in place one year, so I do not have much experience with it, however I enjoyed competing against more than one team. The oddity with our schedule is that some weeks you have one opponent while others you have 2. Perhaps the members of the original GBRFL could give better insight, but for now you could peruse the league sites - they are loaded with background. |

Title: Re: Playing 2 different fantasy opponents in ONE w Post by StegRock on May 8th, 2004, 2:04pm In light of bg's post, just thought I'd throw the specific link to the GBRFL "Schedules" page out there: http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/gbrfl/schedule.htm. Home page of the league - http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/gbrfl/. I hope it helps! Also, regarding your specific concern over "splits" as you represent it,... it's not a problem. I say this confidently with 16 years of experience in such a system. For any given team, you'll have just as many 2 - 0 weeks as 1 -1 weeks and 0 - 2 weeks. That having been said, having a more flexible schedule, like the GBRFL's, where on some weeks you play 2 games and on some 1, gives it even a further infusion of variety. Good luck hammering it all out, in any case! |

Title: Re: Playing 2 different fantasy opponents in ONE w Post by KillerKingSting on May 8th, 2004, 2:40pm Thanks bgsg & Steg for the links. They are of great help! [smiley=cheers.gif] In fact I just read a short FF article on this very subject and it sounds like the "thing" to do. It outlined such facts as scheduling luck in wins & losses w/ regards to head to head games; increasing the "fun" of playing more than one opponent each week and also a really good one in that, if you have an uneven # of teams in your league, you no longer have to be subject to manipulating schedule strategies and BYE weeks to get every owner playing the same amount of games OR even batter - to search for that "extra" owner in order to even things out. I'm going to take a closer look at the GBRFL scheduling technique and see what I can come up with. |
