Title: Zany 1st Round Fantasy Playoffs Story
Post by junkyardjake on Dec 16th, 2004, 9:21am
So I'm in this league where I guess the top prize is around $500-$600, and my team, Amish Thug Posse plays the same team I played last year in the week 14 first round of the playoffs, Orange Crush.

This year, I was up by 84-70 going into Monday Night's game between the Chiefs and Titans, he had Eddie Kennison, I had Tony Gonzalez, so I figured no problem.

Wrong...Of course Eddie Kennison scores his second TD of the game on the very last offensive play for the Chiefs, and Tony Gonzalez doesn't do anything special.

Final score:

Amish Thug Posse - 91 points
Orange Crush - 91 points

It goes to the tiebreaker, who is simply a designated bench player:

Amish Thug Posse - Drew Bledsoe, 7 points
Orange Crush - Reuben Droughns, 6 points

So I win by 1 point on the tiebreaker, only because Droughns decided to get benched last week.

Here's the strange part:

In 2003, first round of the playoffs, before Monday night Football:

Amish Thug Posse - 122 points (the week Clinton Portis went loopy and scored 5 TD's)

Orange Crush - 100 points, and he has the St. Louis defense on Monday night.

I was feeling moderately confident that he couldn't make up 22 points, but of course how does it end up ?

On the very last play of the game, the Rams get a sack, gives Orange Crush 2 points and the final score is:

Final score:

Amish Thug Posse - 122 points
Orange Crush - 122 points

It goes to the tiebreaker:

Amish Thug Posse - Chad Pennington, 5 points
Orange Crush - Somebody I can't remember, more than 5 points

That's about as zany as it gets as far as I'm concerned. I swear if I ever win this league I will immediately retire so I can watch only the first half of Monday night football like the rest of America, instead of staying up till 1 am throwing beer cans at the TV.  (And I don't really drink beer, so I usually have to end up borrowing somebody's beer cans)
