Title: My draft this weekend, how did I do? Post by captainpurple on Aug 30th, 2005, 1:38pm Hi all, figured I'd throw my latest draft out here to get your thoughts. 10 teams, 15 man rosters, I had pick #6 in a serpentine. (Pick) (6) Holmes - happy he dropped to 6 (16) Rudi - again, pretty happy with this value (26) J Walker - a bit worried I reached here, but Moss, Harrison, Holt, Burleson, Owens, Chad Johnson & Wayne were already off the board, so I took a WR (36) Steve Smith - hoping he returns to form, if he does, this is a steal (46) Michael Clayton - now that I think about it, this was a reach (56) Ronnie Brown - wanted a keeper here (66) Chris Brown - injury concerns, but he shouldn't have lasted this long (76) Hasselbeck - pretty good value for QB this late (86) T Heap - could've gotten him later I think (96) L Johnson - couldn't wait on Priest's handcuff any longer (106) E Moulds - building depth at WR - good value here I thought (116) T Taylor - Minny expects big things from him this year....homer pick ;D but decent value here (126) K Warner - he has plenty of weapons, and if Denny can ressurect Randall Cunningham..... (136) Dallas D - happy with this quality in round 14 (146) Shayne Graham waited til the last round and got my #3 kicker QB - Hasselbeck, Warner RB - Priest, Rudi, RBrown, CBrown, LJohnson WR - Walker, SSMith, MiClayton, Moulds, TTaylor TE - Heap K - Graham D - DAL I think I did well early and late, with a couple reaches in the middle. I'm also a little thin at QB. Thoughts? |

Title: Re: My draft this weekend, how did I do? Post by steelkings on Aug 30th, 2005, 3:09pm Getting Johnson so late will be huge for your chances. You figure 1 back spot is secure all year. Rudi J should be a solid no#2 back. I think you are thinest at WR. "Losman to moulds...TOUCHDOWN!!!" isnt something that we are likely hear that often. Steve Smith could go either way. Clayton, Moulds sport bad QB's. You really are taking a chance that Smith or walker can rebound from injuries, and With Green Bays o-line problems, Walker may have trouble getting downfield. Smith [smiley=sick.gif](2004 soup Knee) Walker [smiley=flipoffangrily.gif]2005 Bad finger Taylor should fair well in Minny. He may turn out to be your best WR by years end. |

Title: Re: My draft this weekend, how did I do? Post by Philly on Aug 30th, 2005, 4:13pm Very nice team. I draft out of the 6 spot in my 12-team money league, so this is helpful. I'm surprised Larry Johnson lasted so long. I've seen people take him as early as the 5th round as a handcuff. You do need some help at QB. Hass should be OK, but Warner is an unknown (not that he was a bad value pick, but he's your #2 guy now). I like your WRs. You have 3 guys (Walker, Clayton, Smith) who could be #1 FF WRs. I don't share the same sentiments about Smith and Clayton as steelkings. Taylor is a nice bye-week guy or short-term injury fill-in. I think Moulds could really fall off the charts this year. |

Title: Re: My draft this weekend, how did I do? Post by junkyardjake on Aug 30th, 2005, 7:51pm Really smart draft Captain, I'm not sure there is a reach in your entire list. Great runningbacks, especially since you wisely handcuffed Johnson with your Holmes pick. Rudi Johnson is a great pick. Ronnie Brown and Chris Brown at #56 and #66 are incredible values. I can't believe Chris Brown fell so far, granted the Titans look awful this year, but he is nothing but productive when he plays. Walker, Steve Smith and Clayton are very solid. I agree with Philly that you shouldn't expect too much out of Taylor and Moulds, but given where you picked them, who cares. I think Todd Heap at #86 was a bargain too, he seems to be going in the 70s range. QB is a little weak, unless the Seahawks find a viable #2 receiver. Then again, if Warner actually pans out, you should be above average at this position too. Dallas D went way too late, that was also a smart pick. |
