Title: Marcus Vick kicked off the Hokies
Post by BarnabyWilde on Jan 6th, 2006, 7:35pm
Does he go pro, or transfer to a smaller school? If he does go pro, when does he get drafted?

He will declare his eligibility for the draft.  He really has no other choice.  As many problems that he has had through his college career, what college would want him?  He certainly would not go to a lesser division school for one more year.

He called his brother yesterday asking his advice as to what to do.  Here's a transcript of what was said.

Marcus:  Hey bro, I could really use your help man.  What should I do?

Michael:  F%#& them yo. You don't need no degree. Come to the promise land, and start makin some serious greenbacks.

Marcus:  But don't they do ALOT of drug tests in the NFL now?  I mean, I would have to stop smokin weed and shit, right?

Michael:  F#%@ no! I smoke da bluntz every day man! We got inside dudes that tell us when they gonna pop us.  No need to worry bout that bro.

Marcus:  Do you think I'll even get drafted? I mean, I've done a lot of shitty things during college.

Michael:  Shiiiiit.  The NFL has a team taylor made for kids like you bro.  The Raiders.  They need a QB real bad.  They'll pick your ass up.  Then you can smoke the goooood shit from the west side man.

Marcus:  Thanks bro.  Late

This is funny as hell!  Unfortunately, probably not far off the mark either!  With so many teams in need of a QB (whether real or perceived), I wouldn't be surprised to see Marcus go in the 1st round.

If Marcus Vick declares, he won't go first day (not even to the Broncos!).  No team is going to invest that kind of money into a kid who will probably be suspended more than he'll play.  He will get drafted by someone, late, and get a pittance of a signing bonus to go along with minimum salaries.

I personally wouldn't touch him.  If I was drafting a QB late, I'd go for a Barrick Nealy, Bruce Eugene, Ingle Martin, or Kent Smith instead.  Lots of potential without all the risk of a Vick.

I couldn't agree more.  I wouldn't touch him either.  BUT, it wouldn't shock me to see someone take an early gamble (maybe not round 1 but...).

He has a ton of talent and upside. IF someone can bring that out in him while helping him with his off field issues, among other things, he can be a great sleeper pick. I don't know why, but the Chiefs come to mind. I think Herm Edwards (if he decides to go there) would be an excellent mentor for someone like Marcus.

He will most likely be a second day pick. Most teams hate to waste a first or second round pick.  A third or fourth round pick is a little different.  (Remember last years Bronco's third round pick?).

My guess is third or fourth round probably to a team with a vetern QB.
