Title: What's your FAVORTE LEAGUE FORMAT? Post by captainpurple on Jan 23rd, 2006, 10:52am Here's some Superbowl-wait filler for us. [smiley=campfire.gif] [smiley=goodrevil.gif] I was invited into the GBRFL2 this year. I've been in fantasy football for quite a few years. [smiley=wiseman.gif] I've done the salary cap leagues. The redraft leagues. Some hybrids, where you keep 1 or 2 players. Full keeper leagues (dynasty leagues). But through all of that, the scoring has always been a very standard 6/TD ,1/20yds etc. Enter my first season in the GBRFL2. [smiley=bouncin.gif] I'm not going to list the full scoring system; you can check that out for yourself at the GBRFL2 Home Page (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/gbrfl2). In short though, each scoring category goes head-to-head: Your teams passing performance vs. your opponents; your teams receiving performance vs. your opponents; rushing... kicking... defense. This really minimizes that one week wonder phenom. Where LT might get 4 TDs and scores 36 pts in a regular league (and kick your ARSE! [smiley=fumin.gif]), he's simply part of your rushing head to head in the GBRFL2, and while he may win that category for you, if you lose...say...passing and D, you probably will lose the matchup. I think it's a great system, [smiley=thumbsup.gif] and really like the nuisance ;) err...nuance it brings to the weekly lineup analysis. So that's my favorite system. What's yours? [smiley=shrug.gif] Tell us what your favorite FFL system is. It can be the merits of scoring, or a league system. Maybe you like the clean slate of a redraft league? Maybe you love to crunch the #s of a salary cap league? Let's hear it! Maybe we'll catch some ideas we can bring to our next respective GM meetings that will make all our leagues more fun. Title: Re: What's your FAVORTE LEAGUE FORMAT? Post by tm20 on Jan 24th, 2006, 9:06pm Good topic. I've only had a couple years experience with fantasy football, but I also am curious about this. Many of you have had enough experience to know which works best. Fantasy football has too much potential to not work out a scoring system that is as balanced as possible. If anyone has any articles or arguments about league scoring, maybe this would be a good post to add it to in the future. |
