Title: My "Feelings" about Fantasy Football in a Nutshell Post by StegRock on Aug 10th, 2006, 2:23pm The following is a short excerpt from a message I just sent to an OLD, but BEST friend that I thought was worth sharing with all of you... "... The only thing I would add to that is that, as you know, what I love about fantasy football most is not what your typical guy does. What I cherish about fantasy football is the unique thing IT can do, if run with the right spirit in mind and at heart, that hobbies like golf, fishing, poker or what have you really can't, namely, maintain close friendships across great distances. It's never been a "money" thing for me, like it can devolve for so many... as you know. It's always been a camaraderie and "keeping in touch" thing. And, say what you want, it did just that for us, and when we no longer had it,... well,... look what happened. And, that's no indictment on our friendship. But, across distances people need that... connection... a common interest (that's involved enough... as fantasy football, or at least the brand I espouse, is) that makes them pick up that phone and stay in touch... So, if you are into it, let me know,... and let's get to workin' on reestablishing contact and rekindling that friendship with it as our table over which to meet..." [smiley=touching.gif] That's where I'm comin' from... So, when I here people come on my site, likely none of you reading this, touting their possible "money-league" winnings and saying how they'll make a donation to the site if they win, WHICH, ironically, NEVER COMES TO PASS, know what's running through my mind and heart... :-/ Hell, I don't want your winnings... That's not the right reason... I'm not being shown genuine generosity, then... |
