Yo! Stegrock! Just wanted to give a shout out to you and say "way to fuckin' go"! I guess the other football guys out there on the net are watching the games on a black and white at home or some shit... cause this is the first football site that actually fucking looks like football! Gridiron got it goin' on bro! Keep it up. Just a wimp ass "tackling dummy" for now... but hey...at least I'm not a geek! :o

Thanks, Chili D./Razzak, for the kind words. I think this place is going to be something else someday and I am the kind of person who has a memory like an elephant, and the brain like one, too, unfortunately. [smiley=laugh.gif]

Anway, 19 members in like 4 and a half days. WOW! :o I was hoping to get that many after like 2 weeks. We are cruising!

I'm feeling nostalgic today -- going through old threads on the Gridiron. Thought I'd resurrect this thread -- it's its 5 year anniversary, after all.

Let me point out that the Gridiron now has over 7000 members, 5 years after having 19. Props to Steg and to all the Gridiron members! [smiley=clap.gif]

T-Rave,... THANK YOU for bumping this thread up. Old Chili D. isn't around all too much despite being a participant in the CBFL for his second year this year and wasn't around almost at all for quite some time... BUT, he was a big part of helping me get this site off the ground in the really early days... when we were living an existence quite distant (figuratively and literally) from NFL American football... back in Korea. If it weren't for a chap like him, who helped me turn the wheel back then, mind you, just out of his friendship with me, [smiley=touching.gif] it might not be spinning round-and-round and "generating" all this (good) energy like it is today. [smiley=yes.gif]

And, THANK YOU, T-Rave, for the THANK YOU!!! :)

In any event, though,... as of what date did "the Gridiron" turn 5??? While this thread here is one of the first ones, it is NOT the VERY FIRST ONE!!! It's not the thread that is the "birth of 'the Gridiron'"... Does anybody think they can locate THAT ONE!?!?!? It's not far, so to speak. In another manner of speaking, we're not far off. A guy who I like a little bit more than both Taylor and Westbrook is Lamar Gordon. Faulk goes down and he just might be the guy. Just on "high potential" alone I would give him a long look.

Now, for some deep sleepers... How about Detroit RB James Mungro (5'9, 214 lbs.) out of Syracuse, who has looked good all off/preseason and has a gimpy James Stewart and a pathetic Lamont Warren in front of him, Tampa Bay RB Travis Stephens out of Tennesee, who also has looked pretty good and is backing up Michael Pittman who has been banged up, and last but not least, Arizona RB Josh Scobey out of K. State, who is behind Thomas Jones, who has not really looked good this preseason, and Marcel Shipp, pulllleeeeze?

Good try, MC,... and, moreover, I appreciate the pimpage you gave that article Pro Football Weekly magazine did on me back in the day, http://archive.profootballweekly.com/content/archives/fantasy_1999/daily_102999.asp,... but unfortunately you went in the wrong direction. What might be closer, but still no cigar, mind you, would have been to go via this thread, http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cgi-bin/theGridiron/YaBB.cgi?board=53;action=display;num=1030609988;start=8, and eventually wind up here, http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/trashtalkin1999.htm, at the old GBRFL "Trash-talkin'" pages That was "the Gridiron's" predecessor and, in a sense, our roots, but that is not "the Gridiron" per se. I'm ultimately talking about a regular thread on "the Gridiron". The original GBRFL web site, of which the original articles page was an extension, was born sometime during the spring of 1999 (behind the desk in the front room of my on-campus apartment at Hoseo University in Asan, South Korea,... where I met Chili on the hoops courts). That's true. But, that's different...
