That would ruin all the fun! :( Anyway, here are the post levels for the first four levels after joining as a Tackling Dummy: Water Boy - 25 Assistant Coach - 50 Head Coach - 100 GM - 250 Suffice it to say that IF, and that is a BIG (bolded and italicized) IF [smiley=rollinwithlaughter.gif] , a title like "U. F. F." is available, you are going to have to earn that shit! They are ALL attainable within a short lifetime! How short? Well, I suppose that is up to each individual. But, I want these titles to be something you earn based on your participation here. By making the "featured" title too easy to get, the residual effect is that the entry title becomes a real liability to new members, especially when you become big. I'd rather be a "Rookie" than a "Geek" anyway. Hell, I'd rather be a (tongue-in-cheek) "Tackling Dummy" than a "Geek". ::) |

This is a category I have wanted to add for awhile, but did not quite know how to go about it based on how I had set things up. Well, I stumbled across something on the internet today that solved my dilemma and gave me an idea about how to add it into the sequence of already established categories. So, in summation, there is a total of 11 levels, 10 beyond "Tackling Dummy", for our users to achieve... aspire to. A quick thematic overview of them: the first five levels, the second of which is "Water Boy" and the last of which is "GM", are real-world terms, so to speak; the second six categories, the higher levels, beginning with "Fantasy Field General", are fantasy-specific categories. I never gave you guys an answer regarding whether or not my title, "Ultimate Fantasy Footballer", will be attainable by the masses, but suffice it to say, if it is, it is going to have to be earned in the form of blood, sweat and tears (and keyboard strokes) here on "the Gridiron". Let's put it this way, "Fantasy Field General", the level our long-time and very active member Philly has just recently attained, is right down the middle. [smiley=rollinwithlaughter.gif] Don't fret, though, everything right up until the 11th and final step is attainable in a short lifetime. ;) No gimme's on "the Gridiron"! ;D |

You elevated through all the basic levels "Tackling Dummy" through "GM" to then get recognized as a fantasy footballer with skills, a "Fantasy Field General", but still lacking the "polish" of and the "toughness" one gets from "the Gridiron Program". As we know, "the Red Zone" is a crucial part of the football field/gridiron as well as the main board on "the Gridiron". Well, the next couple steps/categories here will all involve mastering the gridiron and "the Gridiron", so that you metamorphose in the end into a ... Moreover, I did not get any sense of people really getting/wanting to get to know one another better/on a more "real" level and, if anything, their frequently misconstruing my words made me realize that they knew me less the more I typed. [smiley=no.gif] ... ::) Point being, in the end, I would feel basically "empty" about the (valuable) time I had spent there and, ultimately, I felt like it was time wasted. Hence, in late summer/fall of '02, during which I unexpectedly and grudgingly returned to bumblefuck Korea (literally, 5+ hours south of Seoul) to work for an additional year, I was starving for substantive football talk (which does not exist AT ALL in Korea), but absolutely sick and tired of what was available in the world of FF forums, mainly FFToday,... in that context, I made "the Gridiron @ FantasyFootballer.com" come to be. My ultimate point here is that I want to foster a genuinely "real" air of getting to know (and even caring about) one another (as interconnected people) by paying attention to and "responding to", and not just "talking at", one another, and, as I mentioned earlier, how I have a vested interest of sorts in caring about you as a "real" person lies in the fact that I NEVER want any of you to feel about this place the way I was made to feel about "that" aforementioned place. Glad I could add to the great group of guys and gals you already have here and I feel at home. Being able to post things of a creative nature and not get unnecessary "negative" feedback w/out some type of "thought" going into the response has been the gem of the gridiron. Also, as some may have read on another post, when I first began posting on FF threads I started out at another site. Unfortunately, at times, I didn't get a lot of thought-out replies though in contrast, received more opinionated ones that targetted the demise of my flowing, imaginatary mojo in respect to IDPs & other ideas. I'm not saying you have to like what I say. But rather , if you don't then, tell me why. I am here to grasp as well as share. Keeping an open mind is the wide open highway to creative success and competition in FF leagues. Tired of the nay-sayers and the rigid RB rage reptilians that plagued fantasy football & that particular message board site, I took upon myself to find another place that I could share ideas and thoughts. Immediately when I stumbled upon the gridiron, I was welcomed instantaneously and my ideas though, some far fetched (The GREAT EXTREMITY EXTRACTOR MACHINE comes to mind), were wll received and talked about throught a few posts here and there. Steg himself automatically encouraged me to build upon an idea I had for an all-out IDP league in which we just played defensive players - no offensive players - though that hemispheric eruption has since manifested into what is today, the Insane Gang League. My point is, anyone who sports intellect, creativity, humor, sensibility, and sincerity - just to name a few - will most definitely be welcomed here amongst this great evolving yet, intelligent & creative, fantasy footabll site that encompasses some of the friendliest and most imaginative and intelligent people I have come across since scanning the FF world a year ago.
