and all this time I thought you were a decent enough fellow? [smiley=checkin.gif] ;D

Gotta little AFC West observation and challenge to toss around with ya if you care to.

Here it is week 5, and no AFCW teams have met head to head. That changes quickly as all teams will meet each other once in the next five weeks.

What say we go head to head here in predicting those division games? I'm open to suggestions?

I see a lot of split wins, with the edge going to the home team in all cases but Oakland. They have too much firepower and veteran savvy for Brees to keep up, so Oak should take those two games. The Broncos should win their home games but will probably lose all their division away games. Greise either maintains the game plan or falters. He seems incapable of carrying the team if the plan falls apart.

My two sents

First, I say we do this week-by-week as opposed to making all the predictions now... a) it will keep the work in reasonable chunks, b) it will keep the thread alive, c) it will allow us to make all our choices in the proper context... I mean who the hell knows how things will look come Week 17 when the last of these games are played!

Okay, without further ado, here we go (I must admit, though, I am not very good at picking games straight up... that's a gambling thing, and a gambler I am not):

Week 5
Denver 27 - San Diego 17

Any other "AFC Westies" want to join in?

Week by week sounds good here as well.

I see a  little lower scoring game than you with the Broncos pulling it out at home on Elam fg's.

Donkos, err, I mean Broncos 23 - Chargers 20

You nailed the KC - Den game. Good job and congrats on the hard fought win on the field. The loss to SD last week followed by this heartbreaker. Mmmh! Not a great time to be a Chiefs fan.

I'll have to take the SD - Oak win as a consellation{sp} prize.

You can have it!  I won the one that really counted, anyway, right? ;)

How 'bout them Donkies?  I do LOVE the Priest, though, I must say! [smiley=angel.gif]

I'm the one who threw down the gauntlet, and I'm getiin' my  [smiley=moon.gif] handed to me!

This time I'm callin' a game that I'll be at, so that should be the fix my beloved Chiefs need to these not so fantastic finishes! [smiley=gladiator.gif]

KC Goodguys - 44
Oakland Evil - 37

Bring it, oh  [smiley=zenmaster.gif]!  >:(

This is a coin toss, especially given the way Oakland is playing as of late and the fact that the game is in K.C.  I think tricky Dick Vermeil probably gave Mikey Martz across the state a call and inquired about what kind of stategies they used in beating up da Raidahs and handing them their first loss two weeks ago.  I think the Raiders are still punch-drunk and they are visiting a difficult venue.  Also, as my buddy FourTwoOh there is headin' to the game and I am a nice fella ;D ...

Kansas City 42 - Oakland 41

Good luck to your Chiefs and enjoy the game, man!  Nothing like live NFL action in late October, or anytime for that matter I suppose.

Looks like we both went with the rest of the world points wise and expected a bit too much. Enjoyed the game tremendously as you can imagine, and paid a few more "dues" to the non-fairweather club. High 30's, low 40's, steady wind and early rain do not make for a comfortable 3 - 4 hours. What adifference a win makes!

Looks like we have this week off, with two weeks til the next NFL Best, err, AFC West {same difference ;D} showdown.  A MNF matchup between the Broncos and Faiders. Looking forward to it.

I was one of the few that took the under on that game.  That was a lot of points to get for two teams that run the ball so well.

MNF! National spotlight! The match-up my twisted mind has been looking foward to for months! Romanowski vs Sharpe! I wan't a BRAWL! NFL Films better be mikeing the both of 'em up.

What faint hope the Chiefs have at climbing into a playoff spot would be best served by a Bronco loss. I can't quite convince myself that this is what will happen, but it's from that view that I predict this game.

Gannon & Rice/Porter combine for 3 tds
Shank gets a fg, Garner/Crockett get 1 td between them

Raiders 31

Griese, forgetting to alter his drinking schedule, has poor game personally, while Portis as a personal best 160 yard  rushing 45 yd rec, 3 td evening. Give Elam two fg shots and ya got

Broncos 27

Nothing MAJOR, but give me an injury list several deep for both teams, and my ff football and reality football sides can enjoy the game together.

I would of thought MNF would have been your best bet for seeing a game. I'm truly sorry to hear that man. Good luck today, A Raider loss is NEVER an all bad thing  ;)

I tend to agree with the Bronco win, this week. San Diego appears to be in full swoon.

Broncos 17 - Chargers 13

Congrats on the football and a trip home. That trip home has to be an exciting prospect. Enjoy!

Good to hear you actually get to see some of the games.  Also, when you get to Jersey, send me an email.  I'm having a small football-watching, X-mas recovery, New Year's prep party on the 28th, so if you're around then...

I just don't think San Diego has what it takes right now to stop Gannon and company.

Raiders won't "shut down" LT2, but no offensive player of the week for him.

Raiders 31
Chargers 17

Tryin' to factor in all those field goals Morten Andersen is going to get! ;)

Good luck to your [smiley=chief.gif]'s today!  But, I am hopin' for a Donkey win.  I am back in Jersey right now enjoyin'  some home-cooked NFL action.  I am lovin' it and a Donkey win along with a couple wins by my Plummer Snakes would make the day perfect. ;D
