Title: Want your guys' take on something very important Post by StegRock on Oct 24th, 2002, 9:46am Fellas, I have been tossing something around in my head (at the suggestion of a few) that could possibly generate more traffic for "the Gridiron". Not that I am not satisfied with where things have come, but I am thinking ahead to the offseason. How much do you think it would help things out if "the Gridiron" were directly accessible via the home page, http://www.fantasyfootballer.com, instead of being buried in the cgi-bin sub-directory? I would simply do this with a "Refresh" command on the "index" page that sends you to "the Gridiron" (the forum itself must remain where it is, in the cgi-bin that is, so that is one reason I would have to do it that way). I would also provide links to both "the Gridiron" and the "GBRFL" on that "index" page, but if nothing is clicked, it would "Refresh" you to "the Gridiron". Again, I really do not know where I am going with this "hobby." I am just going with the flow, trying to avoid doing the same ole' fuckin' hack that everybody else does. I do not know if I plan to build the whole FF information site around "the Gridiron" forum, using it as the main page, OR if I eventually would create a more typical front page with "the Gridiron" as just one feature (don't think I will take this approach, though) OR to what degree/how I will go about incorporating the FFLA, somehow creating a truly substantive, formal association of fantasy leagues. Anyway, I am not even sure when I would get to this, but I want your guys' opinion before devoting any time to even just pondering it. So, what do ya's think? And, at any rate, thanks for contributing to and being a part of it all. [smiley=bow.gif] |

Title: Re: Want your guys' take on something very importa Post by Jetdoc on Oct 24th, 2002, 1:31pm I personally don't mind it the way it is. If you are trying to make the message board the main feature of the site, it might be worth making the board the homepage with links to the others. Otherwise, any reasonable person can find it. |

Title: Re: Want your guys' take on something very importa Post by bgsgfan on Oct 24th, 2002, 6:54pm It doesn't bother me the way it is. I actually have the gridiron listed in my favorites and have to link to www.fantasyfootballer.com from the gridiron. The one thing I see is that the fantasyfootballer page could be reorganized to make the gridiron a more prominent position. Other than that, I like it how it is. |

Title: Re: Want your guys' take on something very importa Post by Philly on Oct 24th, 2002, 8:43pm I, too, have no problems with it the way it is. To be perfectly honest, I never go to the fantasyfootballer.com site. I'm not really sure why I would... I'm not involved with any of the leagues listed there and any sports/fantasy sites I'm interested in are already in my favorites list. I also have the Gridiron bookmarked and just come straight here. I guess it really depends what you're looking for Steg. If you want increased traffic, that might help to some extent. Getting listed on Yahoo or Google would help there as well. Logically, it would make sense to have a Fantasy Footballer home page, with minimal information, and links to the Gridiron and the GBRFL. But ultimately you have to decide what kind of site you want. I'll still be here in the offseason. I may not be on nearly as much, but I'll still be here and posting. |

Title: Re: Want your guys' take on something very importa Post by DirkDiggler on Oct 24th, 2002, 9:12pm I personally believe that GridIron should be the primary featured main event on Fantasyfootballer.com instead of having GBRFL featured. As a GBRFLer, I really enjoy the site being there, but ultimately for the good of GridIron I believe it should be put as a smaller link or removed all together. GridIron should be 'IT'. This site looks great, has a great Admin, and some very insightful moderators. The potential for this site to grow ten fold is there and I believe that featuring it at fantasyfootball.com would help. Also, someone mentioned it would help with google and yahoo, etc..... Thanks for all the hard work put in! |

Title: Re: Want your guys' take on something very importa Post by Umpire on Oct 24th, 2002, 10:21pm I have my bookmarks set up to go directly to the Gridiron, so I'm not sure how much that helps? |

Title: Re: Want your guys' take on something very importa Post by someone on Oct 24th, 2002, 10:48pm I too just bookmark the gridiron ... IMO there is little need to change any links. If you want more traffic, what has been recommended already is a great place to start. If you want, I can tell someone about it ... ::) |

Well, got the wheels in motion on the Yahoo and Google fronts. Keep a watch on for me, fellas! Regarding where I am ultimately going with all of this and the presentation of it all, I think I have boiled it down to two options, well, three I guess, with the third being just leaving things as they are. I am pretty sure, though, that I will eventually go with one of the other two options, albeit probably not until next year. More input is ALWAYS DEFINITELY welcome, at any rate! |

Title: Re: Want your guys' take on something very importa Post by DirkDiggler on Oct 25th, 2002, 2:28pm A couple of people have mentioned having this site booked marked. That is great for return traffic, however, I think the switch needs to be made so 1)more people discover the site, and 2)so more people return to the site. You kinda have make return sites to the site to really truly enjoy the site. |

Title: Re: Want your guys' take on something very importa Post by muzz on Oct 25th, 2002, 11:40pm I haven't been spending alot of time here lately, but I like this site alot Steg, u do a good job bro. I have it bookmarked in my favorites/best FF folder ( there are only like 10 sites in that 1- as opposed to 50 in the other ), so it doesn't matter to me either way...... I guess it depends on what ya wanna do with the site. Either way I'm sure it will be good. muzz |
