Title: Ja Rule and Philly Fans Post by ScreamingWeasel on Jan 20th, 2003, 1:04pm Did anyone else notice the Philly fans booing Ja Rule and the half-time "entertainment" (in quotes). Thought I was gonna die! Laffed by ass off, and almost choked on my hot wings! Apparently, the "rap thing" doesn't sit well with Philadelphia football fans. Especially out-of-tune, half-assed and poorly done. Reminded me of the "Disco Sucks" night in baseball way back when. A riot and the game was called. Thank God it wasn't nickle beer night at the Vet! ~ScreamingWeasel |

Title: Re: Ja Rule and Philly Fans Post by StegRock on Jan 20th, 2003, 1:56pm Yea, I did! [smiley=rollinwithlaughter.gif] And, then, he spit into the crowd. Did you see that? I definitely felt it was due to the booing! Not only can he not sing or whatever, he is classless. I guess we could have deduced that, though, without having to offer up any sacrifices to get spat on. [smiley=flipoffangrily.gif] Making it worse, he was drowning out the rather fine chick that was up there with him who COULD sing a bit. The same thing happened with L. L. Cool J, but, at least, he stuck to what he does, rap that is, and he does that kind of well, I guess. I just don't understand how these fairly fine, decent-singing chicks let themselves get upstaged like that. ??? ::) [smiley=no.gif] |

Title: Re: Ja Rule and Philly Fans Post by FourTwoOh on Jan 20th, 2003, 2:06pm The second the gal took the stage and they started it up, you could tell this thing was doomed. It just died. I was immediately struck with a new commercial setting for the airlines that uses the "do you want to get away" ad campaign. I could so easily see a couple of "suits" who had put that halftime show together, giving each other an "oh SHIT!" glance and scrambling for the exits, as they fumble with off buttons for there cell phones and pda's. [smiley=rollinwithlaughter.gif] The bar for abismal halftime shows has been set to an all but impossible to break low. [smiley=thumbsup.gif] |

Title: Re: Ja Rule and Philly Fans Post by Keyshawn Johnson 76yards on Jan 20th, 2003, 3:15pm I was at the game, though, I missed the half-time show, as did half the arena. I was busy going to the rest rooms... The "boos" you heard on the television were actually moans. They apparently ran out of beer, so the 700 level fans were a bit... pissed off. ;D $450 tix were well worth the admission. Got a Buccaneers flag from Derrick Brooks, as well as a priceless moment at the last day of the Vet! |

LMAO! ;D Good one ... and exactly right. And ... no ... those weren't moans. It was the one-and-only Steak 'N Cheese eatin' Philly fans booing their blue collar asses off! Live! On national TV. I love it. |

Title: Re: Ja Rule and Philly Fans Post by ugley on Jan 20th, 2003, 6:31pm Makes me feel like a genius for punching the mute button when I saw the dude with no shirt on stage. Did not here the girls but they did look fine. [smiley=shiteatingrin.gif] |

Title: Re: Ja Rule and Philly Fans Post by Philly on Jan 21st, 2003, 1:45pm I'm not sure who thought this whole thing up, but while Philly is a hotbed for rap and R&B, the Vet is not. Anyone remember the Destiny's Child debacle at the NBA All-Star game in Philly?? :o I'm actually very open-minded when it comes to music and like a lot of what Ja Rule does, but his performance (as well as Ashanti's) was weak and I'm not sure what was intended with those yahoos in front of the stage mugging for the camera whenever one was near. [smiley=toocool.gif] I personally don't think there is any need to have a halftime entertainment segment during the championship games. Throw a college marching band on the field (or a dog catching frisbees) and the crowd will be much happier. (Although if the dog missed a frisbee, he wouldn't escape the boos either). [smiley=thumbsdown.gif] Interesting side note -- Ja Rule contacted Mitchell & Ness (purveyor of throw-back athletic unis) earlier in the week because he wanted to wear a throwback Sam Huff Giants jersey. Fortunately, one of the owners of Mitchell & Ness (located in Philly) talked him out of it. [smiley=yes.gif] |

First off, that's not beer they sell at the Vet -- it's water. Secondly, I wasn't able to get to the game, but saw all of it on TV. I think I might have seen you there KJ76... I saw Brooks throwing 3 or 4 Bucs flags to the fans in the 100-level seats. Were you right there at the fence? I think the time I saw it, Brooks came up short of the fence with a couple of the flags. |

My brother says he also saw Brooks throwing flags at fans, and it was caught on television. There weren't that many Bucs fans in the arena. Also, by that time, many Eagles fans had left, so me, and two of my friends who I went with, decided to go down to the lower level seats, by the Bucs bench. Security didn't say anything to us, and fortunately, me and my two friends, along with two other people who also came down, got a couple of flags. Those that fell short, were picked up by one of the security guards, who was nice enough to hand us the rest of the flags. =) I was just playing around about the beer, just a little joke. The 700 level guys were drunk before the game even began. ;D |

Amen, A marching band, dog catching frisbees and put the Chear Leapers on the field doing routines or maybe a wet shirt contest with bonus points for the best eye poking nipples. [smiley=hooters.gif] |

Hmm... wet t-shirts when it's 15 degrees out. Interesting idea. I'm surprised the people who rolled Ja Rule and Ashanti out didn't think of that. With that temperature, there would be plenty of eye-pokers. [smiley=ohshit.gif] |
