Title: MUST READS for ALL, and especially newcomers!
Post by StegRock on Mar 11th, 2003, 12:10am
Well, I felt it was time for this kind of thread.  Specifically, I was prompted by one of the comments Bouve made in his "greetings" thread.  It seems as we continue to grow and since we are up to something more, a little different and quite esoteric if you have not been around here, we needed a thread where OUR "history" could readily be accessed by newcomers.  This way they can have a better idea as to what we are up to and have a fair chance to comport themselves accordingly and we can better go about avoiding redundancies (in and of itself a mission of "the Gridiron").  As such, it gives us veterans of "the Gridiron" a place to point newbies to.  This is going to be a VERY IMPORTANT permanent thread on "the Gridiron".  Please feel free to add to the list as need be as time goes by.  I do not think anyone will have to in this first wave as I have it very well covered.  So, without further ado, here are threads that I would consider "MUST VISITS" for everyone, especially newcomers (REALLY KEY THREADS ARE LABELED "IMPORTANT", but I suggest you visit THEM ALL):

Well, I am already adding on.  I would highly suggest reading my initial reply in the thread below.  I would say that the nature of the "message" would be part of the category:

From the following thread, information not just on a specific project currently being worked on but, moreover, the bigger "Grand Master Plan" of a substantive network of FF sites can be gleaned:

The post made by our Moderator, Referee, on the following thread is important with respect (in both senses of the word, I suppose) to the kind of organization we would like to maintain on "the Gridiron":

There is a post I made a little while back on the following thread regarding my philosophy of donating to "the Gridiron" and the general "co-op" mindset I am trying to encourage here with respect to the long-term vision:

Two more VERY important ones:

Regarding what it is to be an MVP on "the Gridiron" -

The post made by "Referee" on the following thread is worth duely noting...

Regarding posting according to our specifically-worded message-board descriptions and "downstreaming" as a thoughtfully cautious way of starting new threads -

My last post on the following thread regarding avoiding thread proliferation on "the Gridiron" is something that I would like every Gridironer to read and HEED:

Fellow Gridironers, ESPECIALLY NEWCOMERS, whom I haven't gotten to know well yet and who haven't gotten to know me well yet, my post on the following thread, though not at all crucial to the administration of "the Gridiron" like the rest here, is a little heads up from a personal perspective that you might be interested in knowing/being reminded about when it comes to seeking fantasy advice (in "the Red Zone" and want me to chime in):

Guys, please try to make time to consult my post on the following thread; the incident there greatly exemplifies the kind of chaotic and inefficient (and, ultimately less effective) environment we are trying to AVOID fostering here on "the Gridiron":

There is a "must-read" post of mine on the following page regarding the line of demarcation between in-season and offseason and vice-versa (but it's the former that's really the sticky sitch) as it relates to how "In-season Report" and "Offseason Report" threads in "the Red Zone" are to be treated:
