Guys,

In case you did not notice, I changed the "new-post indicators" for the boards from folders to bulbs! "Functionally," they are easier to differentiate than the folders were and, thus, can make your surfing experience that much more efficient and enjoyable. But, are they aesthetically more pleasing or not? In and of themselves, I think they look great, but I do know that they kind of break up the cohesion of graphics on the site a little bit. Do these "aesthetic" factors supercede any "functional" improvement? Or, do you like them more on both fronts? I am willing to hear out any thoughts, but a simple [smiley=yes.gif] OR [smiley=no.gif] will do! Please, everybody, respond! This is something that can be decided democratically! Guys, just to clarify this, you have to go to the "forums-level" page to see the "bulbs":

Within the boards, "folders" are still used.

Are you talking about the little blue circles at the corner of the folders? If so, I like them and don't think they interfere with the page aesthetically at all. In fact, I barely noticed them. But now that I know they are there, it will make surfing easier.

To all the people who have not yet "realized" the bulbs, again, please refer to my post above. If you are on a LAN, or perhaps even a DSL, line, and, moreover, frequent the site, the latter of which would apply to the three of you above that have not yet seen the bulbs, you probably will not see the bulbs for a bit. It would be nice, nevertheless, if, as I asked Philly above, you could report what kind of line you are on. That would be an educational and useful piece of information... for me. Also, again, this change ONLY AFFECTS the "forum-level, new-post indicators," NOTHING ELSE! Let's try not to convolute the issue for people by indicating anything else. Finally, when you guys do "realize" the bulbs like PA Outlaws has, please a) let me know and b) submit your vote. Thanks! [smiley=bow.gif]

Thanks for responding, BW! Okay, you do not have DSL. So, do you connect with a modem, i.e. by a regular dial-up phone line? Moreover, more importantly, at the computer where you are not getting the bulbs (I ask this because I know you access the net both at home and at work, and I am guessing that, at least at work, you are on a LAN line)?

LAN = Local Area Network...

That's what I was working on at work. So I didn't see the bulbs you were talking about. But now that I'm home (also a LAN with a cable connection - got wireless internet at home now! woohoo - but I digress) I see the bulbs.

I like the bulbs, but there really isn't a huge difference between a lit bulb (new posts) and an unlit one (old posts).

So I vote [smiley=thumbsup.gif] for the idea, but a [smiley=shrug.gif] for the execution...

True enough. Maybe it's just the newness that I need to get used to. I never noticed the folders before. I always used the date and time of the last post to determine whether to open a thread or not.

OK... Last night when I saw the [smiley=gotanidea.gif] for the first time, I had lights shining on the screen. Now that I have the normal lighting on my computer, the bulbs are very distinguishable between lit and unlit. Take away my [smiley=shrug.gif] from before and change it to a [smiley=thumbsup.gif].

Still no bulbs here. Not really on a lan, but am running on a cable connection run thru a router. I've tried logging out of the site and then back in, but still no change. Ya'll just fucking with the stoner, right? ;D [smiley=bonghit.gif]

At first I didn't notice that they were lit and unlit, I guess I never really looked at the folders in the first place... I'll be checking out the bulbs for everyone's "bright" ideas in the future. ;)

Just another small feature that makes the Gridiron a little different and a lot better. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
