Title: Tell me this shit just doesn't make sense! Post by StegRock on Jul 31st, 2003, 2:42pm I must admit it's something off "The REAL Feed". :-[ But, ultimately, it is NFL.com's bad! Here is the read from our feed: Rams' Turley wild on field, thoughtful off it NFL.com (30.07.2003 19:51) His appearance and reputation would suggest otherwise, but offensive tackle Kyle Turley -- now with the Rams -- is a different man away from the field. Now, here is the actual article: http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/STL/6509070. Is it me or does that article have nothing to do with Turley's being a stand-up, "thoughtful" guy or whatever off the field? I mean it begins by saying that he is standing around a bunch of born-again Christian teammates, but then says he is of the "other" persuasion. And, then the article just goes on to talk about how he will affect the team as an "offensive" [smiley=hellyeafunny.gif] tackle. Again, is it me or isn't that one of the most unbefitting titles and worst one-sentence article preludes/summaries ever? [smiley=nono.gif] |

Title: Re: Tell me this shit just doesn't make sense! Post by Philly on Jul 31st, 2003, 3:03pm I actually read that earlier today and thought the same thing. It does tie into the headline (just a wee little bit) here and there by having Turley explain that when he is on the field he acts completely different than off the field. Also, I think they tried to show that he was a stand up guy because he is the Player Rep for the Rams (and formerly the Saints). Anyway, it was a weak effort. I love Turley as a player, especially for his attitude on the field. To hear that he is the exact opposite off the field is very interesting... I just wish they better explained his off-field activities/personality. I don't think I've seen a worse feature article since my days of teaching Journalism and Mass Media. |
