Fellas,

New, fun and useful features are comin' to "the Gridiron", the best damn FF message board on the net. [smiley=awwgee.gif] Expect a flurry of them in the coming days, weeks and months. Some things are front-end, some are behind-the-scenes.

If you haven't already noticed, a nice new modification adding advanced IM features and a "BuddyList" has already been added. If you just visit your IM's page, you will see the improved features, like "check boxes" for deleting particular messages and a storage area. To experience/utilize all of them be sure to click on "BuddyList" in the main menu atop every page and "Preferences" on your IM page.

Guys, also note, PLEASE be understanding that this thread is NOT a suggestions thread. As stated above, A TON of COOL stuff, things I am adding based on suggestions made heretofore and my own judgment, will be comin' atchya's. Sit back, relax and enjoy! I think you will like IT ALL! Hell, this IM thing should keep ya's busy for a day. ;) When I get to a lull, I will let you all know. I mean I always want input, BUT, trust me, I ALREADY have gotten A LOT of feedback and I already have (put) enough on my plate, and, moreover, many of it is back-end stuff that you guys will never even be aware of. I just don't want this to turn into a "Wouldn't it be cool if we could do this?", "Is there any way you could add that?" thread, when I'm already bustin' ass, probably trying to get to many of the things being mentioned (yet again). That can get very discouraging as it makes me feel like (I am being treated like) a slave. In summary, this is to just act as a heads-up thread (and, perhaps, a place to give Steg here some love [smiley=awwgee.gif] ), not a "let's pile it on the 'poor' (in both senses of the word) rat-bast" thread.

I love the new look of the IM box in the top right. I always wonder whether the messages I have are new ones or old ones I forgot to delete. This will be a big help.

Steg, great work on the IM upgrade! Sometimes I think you're reading my mind... Just this moring I went to send you and bgsgfan an IM and I had to open another window to search for each of your official user names... a major P.I.T.A. (pain in the ass)! The Buddy List feature will save me that step and make IMing more user friendly... thanks bro![smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Anyway... a tip about the buddy list... a person's screen name might be different than their username (which is what is needed for the buddy list). I tried adding "StegRock" and it wouldn't take it. When I added "admin", Steg's name showed up in the list. The username can be found by clicking on "MEMBERS" above and then clicking on the person's name.

First off, It was me that mentioned speel check.(for obvious reasons).

Great site. Im CPU retentive, so it will take me a year to figure out how to use any of the upgrades. Hell, as you can tell, I still havent figured out how to shade quotes. Keep up the great work. Do you have a place for monitary donations?(gulp)I'd be willing to send the occasional paper love.

Despite our differences, don't think I don't appreciate all the things you're doing for us with providing a site of this caliber, but most importantly, free of charge and ran magnificently.

It's also great to hear that the chat room option is on the slate of improvements for the website. That is a hell of an upgrade, and I think will be a fundamental asset in making this site alot better then it already is.

Again, thumbs up for the great job, glad to be a part of it! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Guys, I have busted hump today on this shit, to the tune of roughly EIGHT HOURS,... searchin' for, configurin' and neatly organizin' games for us all to enjoy in the Gridiron Game Room. I surely hope you guys enjoy it and put it all to good use. I now have to deal with some "other" life issues,... like EATING... and GETTING MY FF STUFF TOGETHER! :P Isn't that where this ALL started? I checked out the Air Hockey (and got my butt kicked by the computer). The Mini Golf was pretty good too. The Blackjack was OK, but I went up $400 bucks and then blew all $1400 on two consecutive hands. The Deep Blue Sea game (just like the old Frogger game) was good, but I didn't do well.

I'm sure I'll check out more as time goes by. Nice work Steg! ;D

Fellas, a little something neat I learned just today regarding the IM/PM upgrade of a couple weeks ago. If you go into your "Outbox", you can "Call Back", i.e. "delete", messages you sent providing they haven't been read yet! How awesome is that? [smiley=thumbsup.gif] There have definitely been MANY times in my life when I would have liked to have had the opportunity to pull back an e-mail after pressing the "send" button! [smiley=yes.gif] Well, now, by using "'the Gridiron' Instant/Private Message System" YOU CAN!

I would also like to take a second here to heartily thank "Junkyard Jake" for contributing his games to our game room here. I really like the way our sites are substantively integrating. Just wondering what your guys' take is on my adding a direct link to "the Bleachers" (sticky thread) on "the Gridiron" index page (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cgi-bin/theGridiron/YaBB.cgi) in "the Sidelines" section. Any thoughts? [smiley=thumbsup.gif] or [smiley=thumbsdown.gif] Do you guys think it's good, but it should be a smaller font (like the rest of the explanatory text)? On that note, the reason why I made it the same-size font as the titles for the other "boards" is because for those who do just want to access a "free-for-all" area, that link to that sticky thread is as important as the other links to the boards.

(Please, no matter how you decide to opine "in general", make sure to answer the specific questions I am asking! Thank you! [smiley=bow.gif] )

I like how you pulled it out and gave it a bigger font and separate link. It looks better that way.

Once the server can handle it, I think a separate section (Red Zone, 20s, Sidelines, Bleachers) for the Bleachers would be a good idea. I think there is certainly a need for it (look at the number of posts there). Also consider that probably half (or more) of the convo in the Chat Room would be topically appropriate to the Bleachers were there not a Chat Room. Just my two cents. (Yes, I know you didn't ask this question Steg, but I felt compelled to answer it even without it being asked.)

Made a few upgrades here this evening. Very pragmatic ones that, I think, you will all appreciate:

a speed boost, which I DEFINITELY feel when navigating the forum;
being old-school, got rid of that cursor focus on all form inputs at the forum, i.e., e.g., on the page to make a post the cursor will no longer automatically go to the form input you (happen to) hover over (which, to me, was very annoying);
a "Back to top" link has been added to the lower left-hand corner below the member info of every post.

I hope these upgrades make cruisin' [smiley=cruisin.gif] "the Gridiron" even smoother than it was before.

Oh, and by the way, I also added another handful of smilies as of late and, oh, the credit card donations page (https://ffpro.hostica.com/secure/ccdonations.htm), eh-hem. [smiley=whistle.gif] ... ;)

Well, this is an improvement as opposed to an upgrade. BUT, it is a significant one for all you chatroom users and it was made thanks to one of our members, sexdexy! By way of his computer expertise and poking around, the chatroom now is a MUCH smoother ride. [smiley=cruisin.gif] Go on in and check it out! Prior users will see what I mean!
