Title: NFL Primetime Post by StegRock on Jan 1st, 2006, 8:47pm So, I gather from watching NFL Primetime on ESPN tonight that it's moving... I know NBC has picked up the Sunday night game... Does that have anything to do with it? Is NFL Primetime moving to NBC? Who's hosting it? I thought I heard Berman say it was going to be the same crew... Is it moving to ABC, ESPN's sister network? What's up? Anybody know? I can't seem to find any information out there... :-/ |

Title: Re: NFL Primetime Post by Oakland4life on Jan 3rd, 2006, 1:04pm I got the same feeling watching it on Saturday and Sunday. :-/ I can't believe that they would move Primtime. I love that show. I don't know if it is moving to NBC or not. I don't understand why they would need to sell Primetime to NBC. They already got Sunday Night Football. I did get the feeling that at least Tom Jackson was moving with the show, not too sure about the Swami though [smiley=shrug.gif] O4L |

Well, with that said, there is NO WAY Berman moves to rival network NBC and I don't think Jackson would, either. Maybe it's going to ABC, ESPN's sister network. Not that it's absolutely necessary (as we know from HBO with their Inside the NFL), BUT they are out of the "football game", literally and figuratively so to speak (for years to come). |

Title: Re: NFL Primetime Post by StegRock on Jan 3rd, 2006, 7:15pm Well, I just stumbled on something... via "the Gridiron Newsstand": "Five thousand thanks to Primetime... (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/9140954)" Bottom line, we don't know... because they don't know... Nobody knows. All that is known is that a) its 19-year run is over, i.e., it's over as we knew it heretofore on ESPN on Sunday night and b) NBC now owns exclusive rights to all specifically NFL-related broadcasts for Sunday night. That said, it doesn't appear that Primetime or its old anchors are going anywhere. ... One side note about the article, while I thought the article was good overall, I, personally, did not appreciate how the author referred to Berman and Jackson. Between that and his (overly) indignant attitude toward MNF and how it signed off ABC (some of which I agree with, mind you, but I am talking about attitude here) seemed to smack of a little deep-seated jealousy. :-/ |
