Title: Re: Jeff, DB,... your Rutgers Scarlet Knights... Post by DB on Oct 22nd, 2006, 10:47am VERY PUMPED! [smiley=clap.gif] (although I was pumped even before this win). We were ranked 19th going in and should move up a few spots in the polls. It's not like they were terrible this year and this is a huge suprise like some commentators make it seem ... this was a bowl team last year. But this year, they have taken it to another level. Ray Rice is an animal. GO RU! |

Title: Re: Jeff, DB,... your Rutgers Scarlet Knights... Post by Philly on Oct 22nd, 2006, 12:41pm Thanks for the congrats! I taped the game (yet another "family event" to attend to instead ::)) and haven't watched it yet. Honestly, as an RU alum I think I am programmed to expect them to start losing soon -- and I thought Pitt would take it to them. So I'm pumped that RU really stopped them. Coming into the season, I was VERY worried about their defense. They're small and inexperienced, but it seems to be a nice combination. Despite all the RU hype of Brian Leonard before the season (ads in Times Square promoting him as a Heisman candidate), Ray Rice has to be seriously considered for the honor. He is carrying the offense on his back. Everyone knows he's getting the ball, and he rushes for 225 anyway! |

Title: Re: Jeff, DB,... your Rutgers Scarlet Knights... Post by Philly on Nov 10th, 2006, 7:48am Following the game on Yahoo! with a bad internet connection is no way to catch the game. I'm in Toronto for a client meeting and the only sports I'm getting are NHL games. Fortunately, I taped the game at home. I can't wait to watch it. Huge W for the program (and for me after I've been supporting the dreck they've rolled out for the past 18 years). |

Title: Re: Jeff, DB,... your Rutgers Scarlet Knights... Post by BarnabyWilde on Nov 10th, 2006, 8:43pm It's to bad that if the run the table and are the only other undefeated team beside Ohio St. that they can't play in the title game. Although I think Ohio St would win easily, I'd love to see Rutgers at least given the chance to play them. A true David vs. Goliath matchup, and who knows, if Rutgers plays the way the have been, it may be a game of the ages... [smiley=shrug.gif] |

Title: Re: Jeff, DB,... your Rutgers Scarlet Knights... Post by DB on Nov 11th, 2006, 12:07pm What a great win!!!!!! Even everyone in NYC (where I work) is talking about RU (even though the school has absolutely no connection to NYC despite what ESPN says). I am kicking myself for not going to the game (and I had a chance to buy tickets a few weeks ago). It would have been great to charge the field. You have to give it up for the defense. They really stepped it up. :o No one is really too upset about the BCS crap. Everyone knows the system is flawed and Rutgers could get screwed. But there are still plenty of games left and we will see what happens. If they run the table (and still have 2 tough games left including 1 in West Virginia), they will certainly make a BCS bowl which is crazy! |

Title: Re: Jeff, DB,... your Rutgers Scarlet Knights... Post by DB on Nov 13th, 2006, 4:45pm By the way, the polls are total crap. RU is ranked #2 in strength of schedule among the BCS teams. The only reason they ranked #6 in the BCS and not #1, 2 or 3 (as they should be) is because the other subjective polls are weighed in. In other words, these teams (including OSU who has a WEAKER schedule than RU) are ranked higher based on reputation only.... not the strength of schedule. |
