Title: National Anthem Lunacy

So it appears Kaepernick is an impious ignoramus.

Frankly, this is the intended result of modern progressivism (going back all the way to Locke), steeped as it is in Marxist ideology: you don't owe your country anything - it exists to serve you, the individual - and in fact your country, being a Western power, is to be vilified and undermined, because government is merely systematized and legitimized oppression. What hogwash.

But it's also just plain stupidity. The fact that a few among us are criminals that oppress others means we should hold no respect for our flag??? See, actions like YOURS, Colin, are what cause division. The national anthem is not a platform for you to broadcast your ignorant and entirely misguided views (or, rather, to display your manipulability publicly). It's not a platform at all, you spoiled baby: it's an occasion for us all to show respect and gratitude to something that is greater than any of us, to which we will always be indebted. And no, buddy, this is not merely my opinion: this is what it means to be an American and, in fact, to be a member of any political society.

Postscript: I should add that the 49ers statement in response, that freedom of expression holds in this case, is also hogwash. American principles do not validate, do not allow for, impiety. "Freedom of expression" taken this way is just code for "do whatever the hell you want." Disgusting.

I second your sentiments, T-Rave.  The bottom line for me is that Kaep's and his crew's and BLM's anti-police stance and stance regarding rampant racism in America are based on lies, hyperbole and propaganda.  Secondarily, these positions tend to be expressed by BLM and their ilk in a disrespectful, uncivil and, thus, divisive manner.  Additionally, this paradigm has been fueled by the political rhetoric of the Obama administration, the Democrat party and the mainstream media, including -- regrettably -- sports-media ikes who do not have the gravitas and intellectual wherewithal and/or sufficient information to be chiming in. It was painful watching Kaepernick and his stand for social justice being discussed on ESPN today as if any other contrasting thought on the CORE of the matter can be expressed...  It was just a pulpit for agreement from the likes of genius's like Randy Moss, mind you.  The fact that criticism of the cause was censored is demonstrative of a level of control that is indicative of the cause's,... eh-hem,... narrative's not being underlain by truth and, thus, needing to be controlled.  The discussion had two modes: tortured and propagandistic.  ...  Then, I hear that rap on FOX, which was pretty good until they threw some racist rhetoric about the Redskins in there!  Enough already!  I am tired of having my football Sunday intruded upon by dopey lemmings.  ...  I am watching the pregame show on NFL Network, where they have seemed to stick to football and not expressing contentious, NON-absolute viewpoints, moreover, on 9/11 on matters beyond their ken!
