Eagles Team Report

Vick to stick... for a little while longer than originally thought, at least. From "The REAL Feed": Eagles QB Vick unlikely to be traded before preseason NFL.com (17.02.2010 15:36) The Philadelphia Eagles haven't initiated any talks to trade quarterback Michael Vick, and they might not this spring, but that doesn't preclude them from doing so at some point. From the Eagles' perspective this may make sense. But, from another team's perspective, wouldn't they like to get their presumable starting quarterback in the fold a.s.a.p.??? Value as explained in this article from the Eagles' vantage point aside, less practice time with your new team is just that, less p.t. in the new system. That can't help his trade value.

Okay, the drama is finally over, so we can now "report"... Vick, so to speak, good to go... according to "The REAL Feed": NFL spokesman on Vick: 'No change in his playing status NFL.com (26.07.2010 14:07) Following a dramatic offseason, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has been cleared by the NFL to play this season. The league has completed its investigation into the shooting at Vick's birthday gathering last month in Virginia Beach, Va., according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

By the way, here, from "The REAL Feed" is what DF is speaking of above: Reid switches gears, picks Vick over Kolb as Eagles' QB NFL.com (21.09.2010 18:54) One day after calling his quarterback quandary "a beautiful situation," Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid made a surprising reversal: Michael Vick, not Kevin Kolb, will be the starting quarterback, the team announced Tuesday.

Another "reclamation" project at QB in Philly (I put the word in quotes because, unlike the apparent masses, I find Young's on-field productivity in the NFL to be pretty good). From "The REAL Feed": Second chance: Ex-Titans QB Young, Eagles agree to deal NFL.com (29.07.2011 00:58) A year ago, Vince Young was a starter for the Tennessee Titans. Now he'll serve as a backup for the Philadelphia Eagles after reaching a one-year deal with the team Thursday, according to a source close to the quarterback. It will be interesting to see if Young can pick up the west coast offense, though. His liability does not regard his athletic ability or physical stature.

And, the prize of the 2011 unrestricted free-agent class goes to... the Birds. From "The REAL Feed": Surprise! Eagles sign DB Asomugha to 5-year deal The Sacramento Bee: Sports (29.07.2011 18:13) One day after acquiring Pro Bowl cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie from the Cardinals, the Eagles signed another Pro Bowl cornerback, Nnamdi Asomugha, to a five-year contract, the team announced Friday.FILE - This Sept. 19, 2010, file photo shows Oakland Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha (2...

| My own thoughts on Vince Young for just a moment... Look, I am not going to defend his intellect or mental fitness. Those are surely the areas that may prohibit him from ever maximizing his physical gifts. But, this one negative stat on Young that gets constantly trotted out, that he is only 13-14 against teams finishing a season at .500 or better, is sooooo strained. And, fantasy footballers, that is especially so for us!

Birds sign a great, when/if healthy, possession receiver, moreover, from bitter rival... according to this LOCAL source off "The REAL Feed": Eagles snare more talent in former Giants WR Steve Smith Lehigh Valley - NFL News (10.08.2011 20:08) Former Pro Bowl receiver is coming off microfracture knee surgeryThe Philadelphia Eagles have scored another free-agent coup, apparently outbidding NFC East rival New York for wide receiver Steve Smith, who agreed to terms with the Eagles today on a one-year deal.
