Okay,... I'll take "two-a-days"!!! Especially from three-timers!!! This time it's courtesy of a thoughtful little something from MordecaiCourage a.k.a. Ken Mesecher.  Good show, mate! Thanks for the help! Every little bit counts...  If these kinds of donations (i.e. if you follow) came in even just once a week (the point is regularly), it would make a dent.  As it stands, it's a help to the old Stegger. ...  I'd love to see this kept up... ...

Well, I guess we can make FOUR days in a row!!! AND, given the "generosity" of this donation considered along with the prior two, we can bring the "make-a-difference" count down from 15 to 13.  This is thanks to three-time donor and Redskins correspondent DB a.k.a. Dave Bohrer.  Thanks a bunch, old friend! I know how you feel about my efforts around here... and, moreover, me as a person. Backatchya!  You'd fund the whole damn thing if you could, I'm sure.  With your attempts to "make a difference", though, bro, you're surely putting your finger HEAVILY on the scales. ...

I just can't wait until we ALL together, co-operatively tip THE scales... in favor of "the Gridiron" (way)!!! Won't that be a great day...  Why not make it happen???

YIKES!  It's one thing when a dude steps up with a, let's say, "GENEROUS" donation.  It's another when he steps up with another one.  And, yet, it's another when said dude's second one follows the first by less than a month! This is simply humbling.  Again, I would prefer to receive the amount this guy has donated here over the last month from, let's say, four guys.  I'm hoping to inspire us little guys to see and, moreover, enact the power of pooling (financial) resources.  But, with donors not coming through in droves, I have to be thankful for the blessing of donors who come through substantially. Thank you SO MUCH, cwhams a.k.a. C-Dub a.k.a. Chuck Hamilton! Thanks for making a difference. The e-mail exchange we had today and what you expressed to me therein truly made my day. That's making a difference in and of itself...  This is all not to mention the timing of C-Dub's contribution.  I know he was responding to my frustrated "cries" on the "Paying the Bills" thread.  He genuinely cares and decides to make a, what I am sure he considers, small sacrifice vis-a-vis the many sacrifices he knows I am making to "make it happen" here...

Just a thought and I know that everybody gets caught up with life, family, bills and so forth...but perhaps a few guys and gals could step forward with just a small contribution to help offset the costs of hosting the web  Yes, there are $$$ involved with running the site and just a few more folks giving just a few bucks can help.

My wife and I (mostly my wife) just came off running a political campaign for a small two county office.  I think the most difficult part of the campaign was asking folks for financial support.  Yet that's what it takes to make things happen

If you don't have the dough, step up and be a correspondent, make a few posts, contribute in any way you can.

Thanks,
cwhams

Boy, with all the hubbub this week on "the Gridiron" (and in my life in general), I failed to announce a healthy donation I received on Monday via the old-fashioned way, regular mail, from Callie a.k.a. Cheryl Wall.  It made my day when I opened that mailbox.  Moreover, it fueled me as I entered this period that I knew would cost me, at least, a few sleepless nights.  It has thus far.  I mean I go right from CBFL/Steg's List prep to the "work" that is required over in the Fantasy reports section of the site, getting those promoted who've earned it and bringing in the new writers.  Your donation, Callie, SUBSTANTIVELY helps me press on, which is really what I need at busy times like these, moreover, the bills have just kicked in... and, this year especially, kicked my ass.  (I'm thinking I'm going to have to sell the FantasyFootballer.com just to keep our heads above water.)  AND, FURTHERMORE, I know, like last year, in all likelihood, you are not going to spare any "expense" and be signing up over at StegsList.com once it opens.  Thank you for your compassion, thoughtfulness and kind consideration of my efforts here! I apologize greatly for the delay is posting.

BOY, I'm showin' how nervous I get around the ladies... I'm forgetting everything. Check out our donations page:  http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm.  Callie, with her aforementioned generous donation here this week, has become "the Gridiron's" FIRST-EVER FIVE-TIME donor!!! That deserves serious rounds of applause!!!

Well, steelkings a.k.a. Todd Webster, you followed through on your word there!  Thank you bunches! It all eases the burden and helps when I go to punch in the card when there is work to be done on "the Gridiron".  Of course, your donation is accompanied by work, as well.  You have done an admirable job as the fantasy team correspondent for BOTH the Steelers and Colts. Way to step up, man...

Hopefully, the "inspiration" will continue... It IS needed...

What I am going to update this thread here with today is not donations per se, but, in some sense, in spirit they are.  C-dub a.k.a. cwhams a.k.a. Chuck Hamilton and rickgpin a.k.a. The Rick a.k.a. Rick Gould have both signed up over at StegsList.com for the "Total Package" AND, furthermore, waived whatever discounts would have applied to their sign-up.  Their generosity and implicit understanding of "what it takes" to run this joint means something to me... and, moreover, to the site...  Thanks, fellas!

Well, we have another FIVE-TIMER in da house (check out the donations page:  http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm),... one who, much like Chuck and Rick mentioned above, accompanied his HEALTHY donation with a StegsList.com sign-up,... sparring no expenses and signing up for "Total Package" no less!!! That's the kind of "substantive" and "substantial" appreciation and gratitude that can propel us to the next level,... you know,... the one that gets me to a position where I can pay staffers and get us those FantasyFootballer.com home offices on the Big Island... ... In all honestly, it's funny how wonderfully,... nay,... wondrously that works...  I give you all something of substance to enjoy...  You all give me something of substance to work with,... i.e. to put back into the site...  WE GROW!!!  ANYWAY,... this time around my day, actually this was Sunday, was made by PrimeTime a.k.a. Gene Nestro!!!  Thank you, bradda!!!

Well, I am here tonight to report TWO shows of gratitude I've experienced over the last few days...

First, a nice donation, moreover, appended to a StegsList.com sign-up from now FIVE-time donor Chumpzilla a.k.a. Ray Matty! A flow of revenue at this level is what can get us to the promised land.  I know Ray gets a lot of enjoyment out of the site,... and he shows it!

Second, we have received a HUGE donation, I believe the BIGGEST to date, from now three-time donor (who should probably be bumped up to a five-timer) IbdFunk a.k.a. Danny Feder.  When I opened the envelope that I knew contained the check for his GBRFL league fee and perhaps a little extra scratch as a donation to "the Gridiron" and saw the amount,... my jaw dropped...

15 of these, and the costs of the magazine would be COVERED!!!  20 of them, and EVERYTHING would be covered.  And, I'm thinking,... one of these a year,... is it really that much vis-a-vis what the vision for this site is???  But, I digressed.  I'll be addressing that more thoroughly here soon enough.  ANYWAY, THANK YOU, Danny!!!  I'm sure I speak for the group when I say that...

Well, another FIVE-timer tops the donor's list, http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm.  Mind you, this fella has ALREADY given this year, actually not very long ago, but with his annual GBRFL league fee, he couldn't help but send a little extra, another... towards the cause,... so to "smiley". Drew Rosenhaus a.k.a. Mark Hahn, thank you for your grand generosity, my old friend.  I did NOT expect this from you.  I know you and your situation.  While you may not be tight, tight,... I know you are not made of money, either, and have a family.  The thing is,... I also know that you do this because of the person you are,... not the money you do or do not have.  That's the way it's supposed to work.  People nickel and diming it,... so to speak,... relatively speaking,... aren't who are going to get us to the "cooperative promised land".  You, my friend, are making a dent.  In any event, thank you for, at least, making my day!!!

Well, we gots another site supporter...  One of our newbies Whammer a.k.a. Chad Gillingham has decided to step up and help me shoulder some of the financial brunt it takes to run this joint, and in no small way, mind yous!  This was a substantial contribution!  Thanks a BUNCH, man! You've been a hell of a friend over the last number of months.  I know you are very thankful for my having gotten you into the hobby, and I am glad you are cutting your fantasy football teeth with me and here on "the Gridiron", BUT, make no mistakes, it is I who is the "I" in, or should I say, on the I.O.U.  For me to have observed the excitement in your eyes back during the CBFL Draft was really gift enough.  The fact is, though,... and I know you are in tune with this, Chad,... that there is a bottom line, and that that sentiment, while all well and good, doesn't provide the "oil" to keep the gears turning around here.  I thank you for your walking on over with your oil can and putting a squirt on the gears. It is a huge help, and it is what helps keep this place running smoothly.

Now,... Chad,... go and tend to Chester... ...

GBRFLer Flesh is Fantasy a.k.a. Dave Trout works his way up the "Site Donors Standings", putting himself today in the three-time donor category with a nice "pizza+" contribution! It's been a decent day today THANKS TO our GBRFLers...

One GBRFLer jumps into second-place among GBRFLers with a BIG donation, his second in just the last three months. DB a.k.a. Dave Bohrer, you da man, man!  THANK YOU for your ever-present understanding of all I put into this stuff and the sacrifices I make that make it all happen.

Now, another GBRFLer has put himself in the game, and by extending his hand of generosity, extended our list of donors by yet another good soul. Thanks, T-Rave a.k.a. Travis Cooper, for pitching in, brother!

ALL of this is so very timely right now...  Leave it to my GBRFL homeys!

And, YAGSU (Yet Another GBRFLer Steps Up)... with YAHD (Yet Another Healthy Donation), mind you.  Expenses were not spared so that this site's coming at my "expense", so to speak, could be further minimized.  But, as he put it to me, it's really just to show his appreciation for ALL the time and effort that he knows goes into making this all happen.  Heck, I've been so focused on plowing ahead on things here this morning that I haven't even sat down and just "enjoyed" the games here today.  Point being, this guy's very "substantive" show of appreciation makes up some for the grief.  It lets me know to keep pressing ahead.  So, this morning I thank DOLFAN a.k.a. Joe Parsons for lending me a hand and brightening my day. Thank you, man!

GBRFLer pays league fee includes nice "tip" for the web site...  Thank you very much, Art Vandalay a.k.a. Francisco a.k.a. Fresca, a.k.a. Frank Gonzalez! Your appreciation of the league and the site I know is great, and I appreciate your showing it in a "substantive" way that helps ease the ever-increasing (in light of the web site) financial burden on me.  This kind of support helps out in ways that are more "tangible", BUT I thank you, too, for the subtler ways you have shown me your appreciation, as well. This will help my Sunday ('round here) get off on the right foot and make it a little brighter.

Well, well, well...  Ho, ho, ho... On Christmas Eve Eve, the Christmas "spirit" hath finally kicked in here on our "beloved" site, at least for one good soul (please pardon and forgive me for the slight cynicism contained there).  Todd Webster a.k.a. steelkings lived up to his word (which means a lot) and came up with a few bucks for the site and the old guy tryin' to keep the place (and himself ) afloat, in fact a few bucks more than he said he would...

on Dec 12th, 2007, 4:34pm, steelkings wrote:

If you are reading this, I challenge you all to match my 20 bucks. Whats twenty bucks?

For those who need the help

1.  Scroll up to the top of the home page.
2. Click on the Gridiron Store.
3. Click on the donations page.
4. Choose visa or Master card.
5. Enter your info and select an amount.

Thank you very much, Todd, for the gift and, moreover, for following through on your word. Boy, it would be great if this spurred on a "flurry" of donations, making for a "white Christmas", so to speak (i.e. "green Christmas"), here on "the Gridiron". But, seriously,... please, please, come through if you can.  The site is slowly (but surely) becoming a heavy weight, and, frankly speaking, I'm "spent", literally and figuratively.

P.S. (Todd, I think I'm gonna have a little surprise for you come later this evening.  Be on the lookout...)

Well, before '08 arrives and '07 departs (this donation was actually received on the 26th), another good-hearted Gridironer opens up his wallet and, in the process, his heart to give back NOT a little bit to a site he gets a lot from but also gives a lot to.  He is a CBFLer.  I mention this specifically because in a way I think this chap thinks of this as paying for the league, the opportunity to play in a premium league and also all the work that goes into it all year long.  He is also our Rams Correspondent, and he is one of our best, producing timely, insightful, well-written reports... for a couple years now.  I mention this because I too think that he sees his donation as "paying his dues".  While, of course, I am VERY grateful to him for his voluntary efforts, I truly believe that he is sensitive to the other side of the coin, the side that is the opportunity that he is getting.  Yes, he is contributing, but he is also receiving an opportunity.  In light of all the effort he has made for this site, this kind of mindset and financial contribution speaks well to this guy's humility, what I, in the "position" I am in here, value greatly.  It is his kind of effort and donations that make me want to press on with this venture.  This is in stark contrast to those who (behind the scenes) like to point out to,... nay,... outline point-by-point for me all that they do for the site, which typically pretty much pales in comparison to someone like this fellow, whose sensibility runs, I believe, like this... the more I do for, the more time I spend on the site, the more I realize ALL that Steg is doing and ALL the time he is spending and has spent here, and, thus, the more I give, the more I want to give.  It's consistent with the philosophy that, if you are really learning, you realize that the more you know, the more you know you don't know, a realization which engenders humility.  Here that kind of mindset translates into the more effort I make here on "the Gridiron", the more I realize that Steg's tank must be running really low and that he needs as much "substantive" encouragement as reasonably fiscally and otherwise possible.  Okay,... without further ado, thank you to a dude who talks little but says a lot with his actions here on "the Gridiron", rickgpin a.k.a. Rick Gould.  Thanks a bunch, brother, for making my holidays a little bit brighter and contributing in a way that makes me want to press on... on "the Gridiron".

The New Year has gotten off on the right foot.  Well, actually, this substantive and "substantial" donation was made the day after Christmas, but due to the hammering out of some of the details I did not put it through until today, New Year's Day.  This chap followed through on his word (you'll see what I mean on another thread), but ultimately told me to do whatever I saw fit with the amount, i.e. take it all just as a straight donation.  In any event, moreover, with this contribution he has raised himself to an eschalon not yet achieved by anyone.  He has become our first-ever SIX-time donor!  Congratulations, Drew Rosenhaus a.k.a. Mark Hahn, and, moreover, THANK YOU for all you have given to help keep this boat afloat for as long as it has and for making yourself our first-ever SIX-time financial contributor!

On that... , to check out our current site donor's list [and find out how to get yourself (higher up) on it... this tail end of the holiday season], click here:

Well, this thread, in a sense, picks up where it left off...  Unfortunately, it's some almost seven months later... ...

Well, as almost all of you who would be inclined to be here and reading this know, it won't just be my teets that'll be dangling soon here in the Stegeman household,... which, mind you, is an "unknown", some 2,000+ miles and a HUGE move betwixt to a place where we have NO family or close friends away,... AND IT IS "BILL SEASON" here on "the Gridiron".  Just what I need right now... from an extraneous source of debt in my life (I beseech you guys to put yourself in my shoes for just a moment and consider your expecting wife's reaction to such a situation).

Moving right along to the "bottom line",... of the two BIGGEST bills, one comes due in about three weeks, that would be the all-important web hosting fee, and the other, I must embarrassingly admit, is already past-due over a month, that is for "The REAL Feed".  Also, within the last month, I paid the bill for credit-card processing, and throughout the year I am paying all kinds of sundry registration and hosting fees.  BUT, RIGHT NOW is when the TWO BIGGIES hit me, and, a bit unbelievably as it has already been very hard on me to stay afloat heretofore, this year, vis-a-vis "life", it is going to be even more of a strain.

All things considered, the site's being somewhat "redirected", my "extreme" personal circumstances AND THE (BIGGER) PICTURE THAT PAINTS, I hope all you lovers of "the Gridiron" come through this billing season in a way that is "encouraging" to me... and in a way that is encouraging me to press on (in light of the '08 scale-back).  PLEASE HELP!!!

But, anyway, I'm happy to see one "rapid responder" come through on this plea that I made yesterday quoted above.  This "Gridiron Good Fella" has worked his way up to Five-time Donor status and, in fact, currently sits second on the list.  Thank you VERY MUCH, rickgpin a.k.a. Rick Gould, for responding to the call, moreover, without any hesitation. If 20 guys stepped up to this degree, we'd have the basics covered; 40, and I'd be a happy "service provider" (instead of the admittedly somewhat unhappy one I am anymore); 80 (or 40, double the amount), and we'd be looking at our magazine,... literally.  Wouldn't that be great?  In any event, whether or not we as a group can pull that off,... I appreciate your lending me a hand throughout the years, Rick, no less right now when I and the site REALLY need it, "support" that is. And, you haven't done it just with donations, but you've purchased t-shirts and joined StegsList.com and all seamlessly.  That means the world to me, my friend.

Well, I don't know if you are going to get in on that love, sk... But, I do thank you greatly for a solid and, moreover, timely contribution to the site. It did put you at the TOP of our site donor's list as you are the most recent SIX-TIME contributor... http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm.  Woo-hoo! I hope you and Rick's lead here sets an example that others will follow and not just shirk.

By the way, sk, your post above was one that I enjoyed.  I got a good chuckle out of it.
