Well,... as it turns out,... we did make it to 3 days in a row... courtesy of one of the GBRFLers! This time it was DB a.k.a. Dave Bohrer, our Redskins Correspondent, and now a five-time donor, currently sitting in third on the Donations page... http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm. It is worth noting that the GBRFLers have really stepped it up in recent years, and I hope the generosity you've show here, DB, rubs off on "the Gridiron" community at large. Dave, you have been a great friend for a great many years. It means a lot to me, man, that your unconditional continued support and friendship is not deterred by distance and the regrettable lack of communication in late years. ...

It's nevertheless understood that it's the argument, not the person, that is being attacked. Still, though, at least once that I can think of, I let something slip out of my big mouth to this guy during a league conference call that I regretted. I apologized right away, but I was in the wrong, absolutely. This guy totally forgave me on the spot. The bottom line is that he and I share a great passion for this hobby of fantasy football and an according respect for and appreciation of each other. Well, along with his annual GBRFL league fee, he put some SERIOUS substance to his appreciation of me and my efforts. During this bad economy, and I know this fella isn't made of money, and, in fact, has SIX kids to raise, and he's made a difference-maker of a donation, that is(,) over and above the league fee, which, alone, is substantial and has some scratch embedded in it for me. We're well on our way to getting the web hosting covered. Heck, forget that... This guy's donation combined with C-Dub's donation (pledge) are the things... FF MAGAZINES are made of!!! About 25 of these (we've basically got 3+ right now if you add together this one, C-Dub's, and then The Rick's and DB's together) and we'd HAVE the magazine or, at least, better web hosting! In any event, you all'd have a happy and contented Steg serving you! Thing is, two of the three largest donations made of late have been from GBRFLers. We can't just rely on Steg and his GBRFL to pay the freight. ... At any rate, DOLFAN a.k.a. Joe Parsons, THANK YOU, brother, for steppin' up and steppin' IT up!!! Unbelievable!

Well, ANOTHER GBRFLer steps up... and includes a little somethin' with his timely payment of the $50 league fee! Thanks, Double-D a.k.a. Steve Warner. Last three donations,... you'd think the GBRFLers had a league to save or something... What a contrast to the situation I just dealt with down on the CBFL board...

Well, as most when running for the hills during this "crunch time", this fella simply stepped up to the plate and knocked one out. No admissions of defeat in the form of "hopeless", "helpless" explanations of what can't be done and, thus, what I shouldn't expect... Of course, these explanations are almost invariably and somewhat ironically UNaccompanied by anything substantive from the person (admittedly) speaking in the first-person singular. ... And, surely no lame-ass back-talk! Just a taking of the lead! Just leading by example! Just genuine appreciation and generosity during this time of great need, and with nothing expected in return. Just a gift for the heretofore received. Thank you, C-Dub, Chuck Hamilton,... for stepping up, taking the lead, leading by example, showing your appreciation and expecting nothing back! Your support does make a difference! That kind of support makes a difference! ... Now, I regrettably feel the need to append a little... As, as of late, it has been poignantly pointed out to me that "donations are to the group and to the site, not, so to speak, to me specifically", I feel like it needs to be understood that that "mindset" swings both ways. I mean,... IF that IS the case, then why am I always the only one thanking our site "supporters" here on this thread???

The GBRFL crew never ceases to amaze me,... and I apologize for not getting around to making this post sooner. At our annual Summer Meeting and Draft this past Sunday, three of the guys pay their ($50) league fee... and then SOME. (Mind you, three others have already donated.) In the face of others' letting their donations statuses fall by the wayside, the GBRFL guys continue to show no quit and climb the list of active donors. Moreover, it's a show of their generous (in both senses of the word) spirit and deep appreciation of and belief and trust in me, their friendship with me. Hearkening back to what originally attracted me to this wonderful hobby, keeping in touch and the maintenance of friendships, two of these three guys would very well be at best Christmas card friends at least at this point in life and the other fella, a law-school buddy of one of the guys, I probably wouldn't even know, no less become the friends we have become. These are substantive friendships that these shows of generosity and appreciation only corroborate. Thank you, Art Vandalay a.k.a. Frank Gonzalez, Flesh is Fantasy a.k.a. Dave Trout, and Rob Pak a.k.a. Pakman for helping me press on with this venture, simply, in the way I am asking for it and without question. That's true friendship.

We've got a new good Samaritan topping the "Site Donors" list and taking us to the next level of Lucky SEVEN-time donors, a GBRFLer and REAL good guy, Drew Rosenhaus a.k.a. Mark Hahn. I not only thank you, Markie, for this substantive and meaningful show of support above and beyond the not insubstantial league fee that you already pay, but I also apologize for the delay in getting to this thank you. This is about two weeks overdue. Anyway, it comes at a time much needed by the site, after a drought this summer which has put it back in the RED, and me, the guy who runs the joint, whose finances, ultimately, the site's canNOT be better than,... if you follow the logic there. This year may be a year of taking a step back and surveying things, but I appreciate your attempt here to continue to push it forward, and not just suck it dry. And, all without a bunch of hubbub! Thanks!

A BIG thumbs up to yet another GBRFLer who stepped it UP with a SUBSTANTIAL donation, along with his $50 league fee mind you! This guy has made three donations now, but in terms of overall amount, which is really what the "bottom line" on "the Gridiron" is if we are going to make progress, he is among the top givers. For that I thank IbdFunk a.k.a. Danny Feder! You da man, and what you do here is so very appreciated! I may be taking a step back financially here this year and running the place in the RED again, but it can't be laid at the doorstep of the GBRFL guys, who continue to show their generosity over heck or high water.

Wow... We're kickin' off the new year fantastically and givin' the old Stegger some hope for the future (in other good news on "the Gridiron" see my latest post on the "Nice FF Sites and Domains" thread "between the 20's"). It's a Happy New Year on "the Gridiron", for sure! It surely brightens the tail-end of the holidays in the Stegeman household. And, you know, this guy, despite all the "hubbub" (i.e. ) and comings-and-goings or, should I say, (literally ) goings-and-comings here this year, has made two donations this 2008-09 season that, at the end of the day, make for, well, a substantively substantial [that's (substance)2 ] amount. I know he just did it as a token of appreciation for the site in general and with baby Monica Marie in mind specifically (explicitly), but the fact of the matter is that these two donations of his, made during these tough economic times, mind you, of which I am not oblivious, are of the amount that appear on the radar of getting "the Gridiron" somewhere. At least, as of January 1, 2009, we're on a pace to "make things happen" on "the Gridiron" (or, at least, ease Steg's pain)! With all that said, THANK YOU sk a.k.a. steelkings a.k.a. Todd Webster, our now FIRST-EVER EIGHT-TIME donor, for your generosity and brightening our holiday a little bit, and Happy New Year to you and yours! Does anybody else want to "contribute..." to getting 2009 kicked off encouragingly for the Stegger??? Link to the "Donations" page: http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm.

This is a proud moment for me and, I think, "the Gridiron". The CBFL had been an annual tradition on "the Gridiron", and even predating the Grid with its roots at FFToday, for seven years in the running entering the 2008 season. VERY unfortunately, it did not survive the "crisis" that "the Gridiron" and its owner experienced last year. That having been said, THANKS to the group of seven stand-up chaps, class acts, to be mentioned here below and their abundant generosity, the CBFL and its tradition has been reinstated on "the Gridiron" here in 2009. Due to the still tenuous circumstances of the web site (I am sure it will be run in the red again this year), I had to require donations of prospective CBFL participants to justify the league's reinstatement, the resources and efforts running it requires on my end. Seven "good guys" met the call, and the CBFL will return this year with an, albeit contracted, field of eight teams. That said, the total of these seven guys' donations was at the level of eleven or twelve guys, which would represent a usual CBFL field. So, my point is that these guys did not just donate (what I was initially hoping for); they donated extra to make up for the difference due to the lack of participants. To say that they're actions touched my heart would be a gross understatement. Since I am participating myself, filling out the eight-team field, I must add that I personally have not had this much fun on my beloved web site in a loooooong time. Without further ado, all of this is courtesy of our second EIGHT-time donor, a couple first-time donors and a bunch in between... Mark Hahn a.k.a. Drew Rosenhaus (a.k.a. Semen Surfer) Chuck Hamilton a.k.a. cwhams a.k.a. C-Dubs Nathan Hamilton a.k.a. Takamine305 a.k.a. Nateman Dave Bohrer a.k.a. DB a.k.a. Davidbohrer Sirganus Rick Gould a.k.a. rickgpin a.k.a. The Rick Gene Nestro a.k.a. PrimeTime Allen Nelson a.k.a. Chili D. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Game balls to all... Here is a link to "the Gridiron" donations page where we honor our site donors: http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm.

SIX-time donor... in... the... HOOOOUUUSE... GBRFLer DirkDiggler a.k.a. Steve Warner,... thanks a bunch, man! Furthermore, all things considered, the timeliness of your contribution (not just from a "paying the web site bills", but, moreover, from a, frankly speaking, personal perspective,... which I suspect you kindly factor in) is,... well,... helpful. It's not much, I know you know, and I know you also were taking care of your league fee, a good portion of which does go back into the league, but, to be absolutely honest, even just the "revenue/cash flow" at the moment HELPS!!! And, in any case, every little bit counts... I just wish more saw it that way. But, anyway, YOU DO,... and that too counts! AND,... hey,... you're a SIX-TIMER!!!

During this tough economy, I would like to thank Art Vandalay a.k.a. GBRFLer Frank Gonzalez for his contribution to the effort here, which is becoming increasingly challenging since the site has been being run in the RED for approaching two years now and, for all appearances, there is no end in sight (and now, as most of you know, we have a little babaroombaba). But, thanks, Frank, old faithful, for the extra scratch. It does NOT go forgotten that you've contributed to the Stegeman cause in many and significant ways, my friend. For the complete site donors list, on which Frank is now at the level of FOUR-time donor, you can go to the donations page or the initial page of this thread, http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cgi-bin/theGridiron/YaBB.cgi?board=58;a ction=display;num=1068780634;start=0.

What a way to kickoff kickoff Sunday... with a solid donation! Guys and gals, the economy is bad. I know that. We all know that. Based on the infrequency of donations anymore, this site is and will foreseeably continue to be run in the red. It hurts. I mentioned, warned, one could say, forewarned, as things turned out vis-a-vis all my rhetoric about Gino's and my holding off on having a child and starting a family even though we weren't spring chickens, that maintaining "the Gridiron" if I had a child was going to be close to untenable. That child as most of you reading this know came... unexpectedly. She is surely the light of our lives, but, as I suspected [and (fore)warned], has made the running of this site terribly difficult on me from the standpoint of both time and money. Moreover, when I think of my internet "friends" who bailed on me/became scarce right smack-dab during my wife's pregnancy and birth of my daughter last year (because of measures I was forced into taking based on those circumstances AND a big MOVE), I want to puke. Bottom line, anybody will come when the trough is full and the going's good (but bolt when having your first child; it still astounds me, the ultimate emptiness of it all). But, in stark contrast to that "epitaph", here is a "real" friend who has been through thick and thin with me, and, I can only suppose, in seeing the "thin" at present, wants to respond. Suffice it to say that by way of TWO substantial donations THIS YEAR, the "SEVEN-time" active donor part of the donors list is no longer empty. It is adorned with the name Dave Bohrer a.k.a. DB, who has stepped it up this year when all too many have stepped down or stepped away. Thank you, Dave, for easing the burden! If others follow your lead and kickoff Sunday '09 continues like this (even at just a rate of 20%), boy, would it be a great day of approaching my dream of just breaking even around here. At any rate, enjoy the games... ... Link to our donations page: http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm.

I would like to heartily thank a fella who has once again met the call... in a BIG way, GBRFLer IbdFunk a.k.a. Danny Feder. Things are "fiscally" bleak around here (as they are in our nation as a whole). This is a total "extra" for the Steggies, though, and one I can hardly justify,... I couldn't justify if it weren't for the totally cool wife I have. Danny here has stepped up before, four times before to be exact, and always to a degree that humbles me but also makes me realize what this place could become with a little "backing" (from within). Right now, we're (back) running in the red, so that's a long way off. But, donations like these "keep the dream alive"... in more ways than one (i.e. in the "alive" sense and the "dream" sense). Thanks, bro!

A very HEALTHY donation was received tonight, in very timely fashion might I add, by our first-ever NINE-timer!!! Thank you to an extremely generous spirit and great friend, Drew Rosenhaus, a.k.a. Mark Hahn. You really did not need to do this,... moreover, to this extent, moreover,... in this economy. It is much needed,... but I had even told you that the CBFL was around the bend. At any rate, if you decide to participate in the CBFL this year, consider your entrance "donation" covered... and then some. Bottom line, thank you!

Well, I'd call this donor a lucky seven-timer... if it were he that was the lucky one. Instead, it is I who is. ... Despite the hard economic times we are in, in fact, due to the times we are in I believe this fella realizes the truly extra burden this place is on me at this point, he goes and makes his most substantial donation yet. Double D, Steve Warner, my friend, thank you for making a dent. Whence this is coming, I know,... and it gives me pause.

The GBRFL Champ steps up with a healthy contribution to the show... A BIG thank you to this, now, EIGHT-time donor, DB a.k.a. Dave Bohrer! Thank you, man, for not just your generosity now but down through the years! I have to say that these guys, as a group, are stepping up this year to a degree that is truly humbling to me. I must admit that I made a plea at this year's league meeting, but I did not fathom that the response would be as good as it has been. While I've been let down in other quarters, you guys have surely lifted me back up and helped me dust myself off... and keep this dream alive! Again, thank you!

A BIG thanks for a BIG contribution from GBRFLer IbdFunk a.k.a. Danny Feder. I must admit that, while I never intended to receive donations in amounts like I have been in recent years, during down economic times no less, and hope to get back away from in the future, and while the number of donors has surely (understandably) dropped off, the total amount, save for "the streak" of 2006, hasn't all too much, I must also say. I REALLY do need it right now! Keeping the site afloat during these lean years is not easy, but a handful of guys are making it doable, in fact more than doable, for me. The site's remaining up and running is owed in large measure to them, and, when "the Gridiron" makes its resurgence someday, we will owe these guys, who have stuck it out with donations during the lean years, quite a debt of gratitude! This time it is Feder who gets the... Thanks a bunch, man!

GBRFLers and ATO brethren, IbdFunk a.k.a. Danny Feder and Drew Rosenhaus a.k.a. Mark Hahn, have given the site some support in the form of "tips" significantly over and above the GBRFL league fee! Danny is now a seven-time donor to the site while Markie is now our leading site donor, our FIRST-EVER TEN-TIMER!!! All of that represents a significant amount of . that has kept this site afloat. Thank you VERY MUCH, Danny, Mark! And, Mark, CONGRATS on being our first TEN-time donor to "the Gridiron"! It is a great show of both friendship and faith!
