nimzo,... Check your private messages...

Thank you for deciding to pitch in, friend.

Also, there is further information here:

http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm.

...

Everybody,... I don't count a donation until it's in my hand,... SO unless nimzo or somebody else here makes one by credit card or PayPal, "the streak" will be broken... Is anybody out there willing to keep this fantastic run going (in case nimzo wants to send his by regular mail)???

It be true...  It be true...  The old Primer here was takin' care of this while I was over here "rattling my tin cup" yet again above.  Unreal how that works... Gene Nestro, his real name, brings A LOT to the site besides his VERY generous and OBVIOUSLY appreciative financial contributions, donation amounts that he has matched or, I think, EXCEEDED with his donation this time.  WW!!!  Gene, thank you so much for this substantive,... nay,... "substantial" show of appreciation. You MUST REALLY appreciate my efforts here.  It "shows"!!!  It was a VERY LUCKY day FOR ME when, way back on that fated day on a rare visit to FFToday at that point, I bumped into you.

So,... with that we have reached "DAY NINE" of "the streak"... just in time.  Can we take this thing to DOUBLE DIGITS???  Is a "DAY... 10" on the horizon on the morrow???  If you want to make this happen, click the link below to see how:

UN-BE-LIEVABLE!!!  Loooooooooong story...  I've been blindsided... in a good way, and floored!  But, bottom line, with just about an hour and 45 minutes left on the clock (EST), in a most UNforeseeable, chances-off-the-charts way, a 10th DAY for "the streak" has arrived, after all. The "good guys" are coming out of the woodwork here (though I MUST admit that this is an ABSOLUTELY FREAK event that occurred to save "the streak" this time; I hope tomorrow doesn't require such Divine intervention ... , moreover, at such a late hour and by someone so... off-the-beaten-track... as opposed to one of our regulars who gets so much out of the site).  The short version of the story,... I MET one of our Gridironers today (I don't break that smiley out too often, but at times like this...),... and at a natural point in our conversation (he was asking me how I make anything off the site) mentioned what's been happening with the donations here as of late,... and,... well,... he decided right there on the spot to go "Hawaii 5-O" on me... if you follow!  Given the whole scenario, I don't know how much we'll see of this chap around here (probably not much), but, at least, right now, in this "one" opportunity that presented itself to him, he decided to step up and make a difference.  Even if it happens just this one time,... it's like he had one at-bat in the World Series and made the most of it.  He's batting 1.000... in my book... and, in fact, here on "the Gridiron" (if yous don't mind me mixin' sports metaphors like that ).  DOUBLE DIGITS have been reached and DAY 10 hath dawned... courtesy of member WillMeyer a.k.a.,... well,... Will Meyer. Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!

So, if YOU are thinkin' you want to step up and make DAY ELEVEN a reality... and "make my day" in the process,... PLEASE... don't cut it so close.  Credit cards and PayPal work at ALL times of the day, not just late at night (EST)... Here's where to go:

Just a heads up, really...  I have a strong feeling that a donation or two is going to be coming in to me by regular mail.  BUT, today is Sunday...  No mail! I don't know if I am going to receive anything tomorrow, but I surely ain't gonna today,... so if someone wants to at least "get us over the hump" here (like MC did a week ago), it would be much appeciated.  It would be such a shame if I receive a donation tomorrow and even again on Tuesday, but "the streak" was broken just because we ran into a Sunday.

Let me add to the post above that it would be especially a shame in light of the UNBELIEVABLE scenario that unfolded yesterday and INCREDIBLE generosity shown to me (on the spot)...  While those of you who have stepped up have done so to a degree that has impressed me and I think that we're probably running out of gas here (not that it all adds up to my cutting a profit quite yet (just in case that was entering some of your minds), no less considering the time I spend or the magazine), the total bummerness of having "the streak" broken just because we ran into a Sunday when (I know) we have a donation or two coming in the mail would be,... well,... IMMENSE.

In any event, given that the tank is running low, at this time I want to especially thank those who have made this run of donations a reality:

DAY 1 - Mark Hahn and Chuck Hamilton
DAY 2 - Dave Bohrer
DAY 3 - Cheryl Wall
DAY 4 - Ken Mesecher
DAY 5 - Jim O'Dell and Todd Webster
DAY 6 - Kevin Anderson
DAY 7 - Ray Matty
DAY 8 - Rick Gould
DAY 9 - Gene Nestro
DAY 10 - Will Meyer
DAY 11 - Jamie Josko

(Edited to add DAY ELEVEN donor!)

I've got to run out right this second,... but I see that a donation has just been made, saving the day or, should I say, saving "the streak" and making for DAY ELEVEN!!! I'll process it and announce it when I get back in a little bit.  Who'd a thunk...?  ...It was one of our guys, who's wife just had a baby, mind you, and already does a TON for the site and, moreover, for ME behind the scenes.  Announcement when I return...

Let me get this off my chest regarding the fella who stepped up and made DAY 11 happen...  I don't even want this guy's donation...  This guy is a hell of a hard-working chap, and I already am recipient of his diligent hard work here.  This guy helps me with some of the thankless shit that needs to get done behind the scenes around here, most notably doing about 75 to 80% of the work on the GBRFL2... and that's not it.  Taking his assistance to me with thankless shit to new heights, he even helps me over on the forum over at "the English Master".  Of course, this is all besides the factS that he has stepped up to become our new Bears correspondent (not his favorite team; he's unfortunately forever stuck as a Broncos fan) and is a solid contributor on the boards... dating back to the early days.  Furthermore, he has NEVER been a thorn in my side, always appreciating the "bigger picture" of where I am coming from with the running of the site, and, mind you, there have been a couple "Steggie-style close calls", where he ultimately saw whence I was coming, though, but did, without feathers flying, cause me to take pause on a point or two.  However, most directly related to the goings on on this thread, HE JUST MADE A DONATION SIX MONTHS AGO and is a FOUR-time donor!!!  Most importantly, though, he and his wife just had a baby about a month ago, and I know (based on something he humbly let slip in a conversation we had around then) that, though they're fine, he's in just a bit of a pinch.  I just wish he made his donation for like something like $5 or $10, something that wouldn't be "insulting" (as if anything, NO LESS FROM HIM, would be) and yet register on the radar, so to speak.  BUT, he didn't.  I just thank God he didn't go unnecessarily over the top or anything.  Anyway, without further ado, THANK YOU Walker Boh a.k.a. Jamie Josko a.k.a. my friend,... who I have made right here on "the Gridiron". ...

Based on what Jamie did here, I'd like to frame the situation with donations in a way I've never thought to before...  If I received just $10 (not that that was all Jamo gave here) 365 days a year... starting now, my costs would be covered and then some, and WE'D HAVE OUR MAGAZINE IN '07 (without all the song and dance like I was going through earlier this offseason); make it $20... and forget about it,... we're in business (figuratively and literally,... staffers and writers start gettin' paid... and so on)!!!

So, anybody interested in making DAY TWELVE happen or do you just want to, instead of step up, sit back and let this streak, which could take us to the next level, end???

Okay,... guys...  On my way out here, I just checked my mail, and neither of the donations I am expecting to be receiving by mail came in today (one, I am almost sure of as it's coming from a current two-time donor who's always sent his by regular mail; the other, I am less confident about as it's coming from a guy who's never donated before but inquired right here on this thread a couple days ago). Anyway, from now I will be pretty much OUT and about until around midnight (EST), so Mr. StegConscience won't be here haunting you all all evening and reminding you that the clock's winding down on making DAY TWELVE a reality...  That said, as this probably will be my last reminder of the day,... I want to say that if no one steps up after how we got through the weekend, with one, maybe two donations on their way via regular mail, that'd be lame... and somewhat of an insult to Jamie, to be honest, as he's the guy who ponied up with 20 minutes left on the (EST) clock last night, which kind of also situates me in an awkward spot ethically speaking if you think it through,... not that Jamie would care, mind you, but... That all could be taken care of quite affordably by just ONE person who gets good use out of "the Gridiron", though, right???  Well, we'll see... ...

This donation of Tony's technically was made after midnight Eastern Standard Time...  I still count it, though, right, fellas?  It would be an insult to him not to, right?  I am in Hawaii, after all, and Tony is in California, for that matter.  I should just be flexible with this and go by whatever time-zone works to keep "the streak" going, huh? Really,... whatchyas think???

I agree, O4l!  It's still VERY early/the wee-hours for many of you, so KevRock's post is enough of a second opinion.  Really, what choice is there?  To NOT continue it would be a REAL insult to Tony.  It would be tantamount to taking his generosity and intention and throwing it back in his face.  I just think from here on out I will refer to the clock "flexibly", i.e. whatever works.  I'll go by Eastern Standard Time if need be or Hawaii Time if need be or any American time-zone in between if need be.

Anyway, Tony, again, differences aside, THANK YOU for stepping up, even if it was just in the nick of time.  I'll cut you slack on that.  After all, you are on the left,... I mean,... west coast.  It was still only like 9:30 p.m. for you, and, in any event, this has allowed me to come to a determination as to how I will go about considering the clock from here on out, "flexibly" that is.  You actually have a knack for helping out indirectly.  In any event, the bottom line is that it's the thought that counts, and your are, I know, always well-intentioned, and your intention this time was to make DAY TWELVE a reality, and I'm not going to throw that generous thought and gift away!  I appreciate your presence here on "the Gridiron", and here and now thank you for making for the DAWN of a DOZEN DAYS STRAIGHT of "the streak"!

So, the list now stands thusly:

DAY 1 - Mark Hahn and Chuck Hamilton
DAY 2 - Dave Bohrer
DAY 3 - Cheryl Wall
DAY 4 - Ken Mesecher
DAY 5 - Jim O'Dell and Todd Webster
DAY 6 - Kevin Anderson
DAY 7 - Ray Matty
DAY 8 - Rick Gould
DAY 9 - Gene Nestro
DAY 10 - Will Meyer
DAY 11 - Jamie Josko
DAY 12 - Tony Onisko
DAY 13 - ???

Who'll be the next "good guy" to step up?  Remember, as per my thank you message to WB above, amounts do NOT have to be exorbitant to make a difference.  If this streak of ours here doesn't get broken, just $10, again, as per that message above, is really all that's needed.  It's just that that "IF" is a rather BIG one...  It doesn't have to be, though...

Fellas,... got some bad news...  I just went down to our mailbox and checked the mail...  Neither of the donations I'm expecting to arrive by regular mail came today. So, I'm lettin' yous know.  It's pretty late in the going here today, though, for us to realistically think a DAY 13 of "the streak" is going to come to pass.  On the east coast people are already hittin' the hay, for sure.

But, if it does end here, it was a hell of a run, huh?  And, I expect that another one will be commencing soon (though I'm not expecting it to last this long).

I want to again thank all those who were part of this run... For those perhaps interested in not letting it die, REMEMBER... the donation does NOT need to be exorbitant.  Something modest and reasonable will do (especially at this point... to keep "the streak" alive)...

Larsman, first off,... THANK YOU for stepping up and wanting to save "the streak"...  Only problem is, which you can kind of glean from my post(s) there above, if your contribution is going to "save 'the streak'", it's going to have to be made via either credit card or PayPal,... the way most are made.  I just can't in good conscience count, toward saving "the streak" that is, a mail-in donation.  You know how many dudes say they're "sending" me something only for it NEVER to arrive.  In fact, it's one (or two (supposed (I hate to say that, but... )) mail-in donations that are holding us up right now.  Anyway, information on placing a site donation can be gotten on the following page:

http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm.

If doing it via credit card or PayPal just isn't comfortable for you, that's, OF COURSE, fine.  You don't have to save "the streak" to make a contribution.  If that is the case, just let me know, and I will send you a private message with my address...  Again, thank you... whatever you decide!
