WAY TO KICK IT OFF, Tony!  I think RW with the first pick overall is a GREAT pick.  As I see it, and mind you I do not know IDP's for the purposes of fantasy football that well so I can only really speak intelligently here with regards to the offensive side of the ball, RW, ?? and ?? should be picks 1, 2 and 3 (though not necessarily in that order).

In any event, good luck to all you guys! Do a good job and let's show 'em the kind of brains and savvy we got on "the Gridiron"!

I am curious about everyone's draft strategy with regards to IDP leagues vs "regular" leagues.

Last year was the first time I took part in an IDP league.  I normally draft using a variation of VBD, however for the IDP league I intentionally undervalued all defensive players because I hoped I would have a better handle on them than most and could find values.  I must have been relatively right because I was the regular season champ - running away even.

Also, if anyone could point me in the direction of some IDP cheatsheets for this year I would be grateful.  I have not done ANY homework on them yet this year and won't be able to until this weekend.  I will do my part to keep this thing as legit as possible though.

Good luck everyone!

I usually play with Team Defense, but have played IDP in the past.  I'm still trying to figure out their value using BW's scoring system as the one I used valued defense much less.

Anyway, I found a ranking of IDPs at the Sporting News site.  Not sure I agree with their rankings, but it's there for your perusal...

We could do first round in first come first serve fashion - then snake based on that?

Also - I gave some picks to someone else just in case I wasn't around when my turn came up - might be a good idea for everyone to keep this thing going.

Sometimes this happens. Some guys don't have access at work and some work LOOOOOONG hours, so who knows when the next guy will get here. I'm still here, but it is just a "mock." I too would like for it to go faster, but the site was down the other day for awhile do to the switch. That shouldn't affect anything, but ya never know. I know guys that work form 8am to 10pm and dont have access until late at nighth. Whereas another guys doesn't have home access. I'm still here. I think a 24 hr rule would be fine. then they get bumped like the Vikes. Just a suggestion.

Was really thinking hard of taking a shot at Ray Lewis, Urlacher or Derrick Brooks with the #3 pick, considering it looks like those three would score big with the defense points system, though, I'm a fan of Duece and I'm not going to pass him up, just to much upside.

I'm stoked! I would have taken Portis at #1 and I got him at 4! Yeah baby! I was thinking hard about Priest, but I just couldn't pull the trigger... you don't mess around that that 1st round pick.

As a rookie, Portis rushed for 1508 yards and scored 17 TD's, and did so while only starting 12 of the 16 games. Had he started every game, he had a legitimate chance at the rushing title and an outside chance of leading the league in TD's. His 17 TD's were second to only Holmes' 24 and Alexander's 18, and I see nothing but greatness in his future.

The way this is panning out, like I thought it would, means I'll get either of the 2 guys I thought I'd end up with...I just hope that the person I want in round 2 is still there...

Right now, I also am high on Portis - for the same reasons Walker mentions - and would have taken him at #1 also.  However, I have to be pleased with Holmes at #5.  If he is healthy he is the obvious #1.  Thanks to BW for making my pick and keeping this thing moving.

Dare I say that Holmes at #5 is a gutsy pick?  Hard to believe that the guy blew away all competitors last year and is such a question mark this year.  He carried me to many victories last year (except when he sat out my Super Bowl because of injury) and I don't think I could have taken him with even my 1.06 pick...

Oh, boy, that took FOREVER!  I, with the help of one of Razzak's posts in the past where he shows how to use tables, figured out how to make them. For the purposes of looking over "Rosters", it looks A LOT nicer and neater and makes the teams WAY easier to compare; however, we get that big gap in the first post.  I don't know what's up with that.  I still like the layout WAY more for the purposes of analyzing and comparing "Rosters", but we are going to have to live with that gaping gap for now.  As for the "Cheatsheets", I am going to leave them the way they are.  "Cheatsheets" are presented vertically, in any case, and it is not like you need to compare the different groups, anyway. :whew:

So far, the draft has gone how I expected.  A little out of order (i.e. Duece going #3 surprised me, since I usually see him go around #6).

I'm on vacation this week, and have been dealing with some medical issues for my family, so I'll try to check in as often as I can.

Sorry for the delay guys in making my 2nd round pick. Since I work nights I just got outta bed at 7pm. I really didn't want to send a list with the first 2 rounds . So, if my pick is close I'll send a proxy list from now on to help keep it moving.

If guys are really interested in where defensive players are getting drafted I think you'd need to do a draft more than 13 rounds. A lot of real good defensive players are going after round 13. Most of those spots guys will fill up the offensive side of their roster.  If you want the draft to go more rounds I'm fine with that.

I don't think we're drafting bench players in this mock... just one player per position as outlined by BarnabyWilde in the initial thread.
