| I have to strongly disagree with you on this one. My team is significantly made up of players I either (1) drafted or (2) aquired as a FA claim. Look at past trannies... that will back me up... Edge, drafted. Rudi Johnson, waivers, Philip Rivers/Drew Brees, drafted, L.J., drafted, dropped, and FA pick later... You guys get the point... The only big name aquisitions I got via trade include Manning and Harrison... and I didn't steal either one... remember, I owned guys like Steve Smith, Randy Moss, Matt Hasselback, Brian Westbrook... I traded big name players and 1st and 2nd round draft picks (didn't have a pick until the third round last year) to impove my team. Not killing teams in trades.

I've been wanting to post to this thread and just got the perfect fodder to segue me into doing so (in advance, I want to say sorry to Jim for the implication of my post here; I'm just calling it the way I see it, man, and I think the proof is pretty much in the pudding... )... First off, let me preface, despite Ray's (backpedaling) position on his trading practices, trading is one of the key keys to victory in keeper leagues (a bit of a tongue twister there, huh?). This is especially so in a GBRFLeague as per an oldie-but-a-goodie of mine: "Keeper Leagues - the More, the Merrier" (which is jam-packed with GBRFLeague wisdom). So, I don't understand the need to be humble about that... unless, of course, as Ray points out it's just not the case here. ... I would contend that he may be being just a bit tendentious, though,... because trades, in GBRLFootball, aren't just for players, they can also be for draft picks, free-agent picks and protection spots, and I think that Ray's contentions above, upon further inspection, would involve more trading than Ray leads you to believe,... ... which I think is GREAT, mind you. Also of note, really good trades in the GBRFLeague context are typically very subtly so. Ray's latest trade is proof in the pudding of ALL that... on Aug 19th, 2006, 12:31pm, BarnabyWilde wrote:| Dogs of War trade his 4th and 6th round picks plus a protection spot to the Fighting Chiapets for the Giants D/ST and his 3rd, 5th and 9th rounders. |
| There are NO players involved in this trade, only draft picks and a protection spot. So, later on, Ray may contend that he drafted player "x", but if that draft pick was procured via a trade,... eh-hem... Make no mistakes,... this trade, in the GBRFLeague context is a subtle rip-off, albeit mild. I don't want to break out how so because I want guys, especially the newbies, to figure things out for themselves... though it would NOT be difficult to do so. You newbies were wondering how Ray accrued the roster he did. Don't expressly ask... Just observe... and learn! This is how he did it!
