Fantasy Dilemma/Enigma: Doug Fluite

Debate: Does Doug Flutie Start for the Chargers again? Before you say yes, of course he does this is Doug Flutie the enigma we are talking about. In New England he comes off the bench and leads the then downtroden Pats on a very productive winning streak all the way to the playoffs then is dropped by the Pats as a reward. They didn't want him and surprisingly no other team does either. He has to go play in Canada. The Bills get him and use him as a backup to the likes of Rob Johnson, Rob Johnson! and others(van pelt?I think). Everytime "the Man" for the Bills goes down he comes in and plays great, then gets benched again. He was dropped there too. He has played great aways, no tougher competitor, a man with the heart and desire of a lion. He should have had a great NFL carrer but has only gotten the back of every coaches hand. What could have happened if any NFL coach had given him a chance when the Pats dropped him? It could have been great and I'm sure there are now unemployed coaches who wish they had grabbed the proven Flutie when the Pats got rid of him. Does he contine to start, I hope so, he's so much fun to watch play.

No way! This is a different San Diego offense that needed/needs an experienced and competent driver. Having Brees behind the wheel there was/is like having the kid in the Hummer commercial with his overblown soap-box Hummer behind the wheel of a real Hummer. Point being, that wasn't necessarily Flutie (alone) having those bad games back then (when they had like no good receivers).
Moving right along, if you are a fan of Flutie like I am, no, I wouldn't get my hopes too high that at age 41 he is finally going to get his chance, the chance he has always deserved. Now, with respect to fantasy football, if you only have to start one quarterback (which is beat) in your league, I wouldn't consider him a week-in-and-week-out regular starter for the remainder of the season. But, I don't think he is as bad of a consideration as Philly does. However, in any event, for fantasy leagues that require the starting of two quarterbacks (which is the real deal), I think he will be a nice, perhaps erratic, #2 from here on out.
