Bad news coming out of "the Gridiron Newsstand" and on "The REAL Feed" for the Rams defense: Rams DE Little arrested, cited for DWI NFL.com (24.04.2004 21:35) Early on April 24, Rams defensive end Leonard Little, a Pro Bowl performer, was arrested in suburban St. Louis and cited for driving while intoxicated. Here's a report from one of the local dailies that cover the Rams: http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/Sports/Rams/00F36B5A EA33BCFA86256E8000834BB7?OpenDocument&Headline=Rams'+Little+arrested+for+driving+while+intoxicated. Also, in other news, related to the initial post above regarding what appeared to be the impending departure of Kurt Warner, the AP is now reporting and Mike Martz is now claiming that Warner's agent overrecacted and that Warner could remain a Ram. Here is the report: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1787124. What do you guys think? I'm not sure. I know they need a competent backup for Bulger, for sure, and they do not have one yet.

Just thought I'd stop by and give a quick report on the Rams' minicamp. No Warner, no Pace, no Little. Faulk is still rehabbing his offseason knee surgery so he didn't participate. First round draft pick Steven Jackson wasn't there either because Oregon State hadn't graduated yet so his participation would have violated NFL rules. Of the people who were there, Chris Chandler looked awesome. He made throws alll over the field. He must have felt like a kid in a candy store being able to throw to those receivers. Bulger was inconsistent, and by all accounts very inaccurate on the deep balls. Lamar Gordon got most of the carries, but what can you tell about a running back when they're in shorts and no pads? One thing to keep your eye on is that Martz is considering moving Arlen Harris to fullback. Quote:With the addition of first-round draft pick RB Steven Jackson, Martz plans to move second-year RB Arlen Harris to fullback. Harris has been learning the position and at the position today. “Arlen gives us a potential ball carrier,” said Martz. “Joey (Goodspeed) is a terrific receiver and lead blocker, and we think Arlen can do those things. All he has to do is be an adequate blocker and a terrific runner and receiver, so there is a little bit of a mix between those two guys in what you are looking for.” |
| http://news.stlouisrams.com/article/42054/ Second year WRs Kevin Curtis and Shaun McDonald both saw extensive action. Coming off injuries last year, niether flashed the speed that made the Rams draft them, but the coaches were encouraged by what they saw.

Are you haering anything about an increased role for Dane Looker? He impressed me with what little I saw last season. on May 29th, 2004, 11:15am, paulinstl wrote:Just thought I'd stop by and give a quick report on the Rams' minicamp. No Warner, no Pace, no Little. Hadley says Faulk's knee is a problem that isn't going away, and the Rams drafted RB Steve Jackson in the case Faulk retires." |
| Wow... that's huge if it turns out to be true. I realize it's just a rumor at this point, but I'd expect Steven Jackson to climb the rankings pretty quickly. I have never drafted Marshall Faulk in all my years of FF. I realize I missed out on some of the big seasons, but I missed out on a lot of heartbreak too.

Follow up Faulk news: http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/Sports/Rams/9B4CD113 8038D7A286256ED9001C29A6?OpenDocument&Headline=Jackson's+absence+irritates+Martz Quote:While Martz acknowledged that he was "a little bit" concerned about Faulk's health, he was quick to put his apprehension in perspective. "I'm less concerned probably this year than I was the last two years," said Martz, who will be entering his fifth season as head coach. "I know that he's come in the last two years probably about 70 percent. Last year, his knee was awful, and we tried to kind of get by. ... "He's much further along physically than he has been the last few seasons, and yet he's not 100 percent by any stretch. He's probably 85 to 90 percent. Over the next month or so, we're going to try to get him as close to (100 percent) as possible." Asked whether Faulk might never again be at full capacity, Martz said: "I suppose that's possible. But Marshall at 95 percent is probably better than anybody else in the league." |
| Steven Jackson is in Martz' doghouse for not showing up last weekend for a workout. It's all in the link above. You may need to copy and paste.

This, right off "The REAL Feed": Feeling mortality: Faulk ESPN: NFL (30.07.2004 08:16) Faulk knows his days are numberedMACOMB, Ill. -- Marshall Faulk has had his share of physical problems over the years. He comes into the St. Louis Rams' camp healthy this year. Then again, it's early. Entering his 12th NFL season, the 31-year-old running back doesn't know how long his body, and u...
