Top Ten FF WRs for 2004

It's early and the rankings will probably change more than a few times throughout the season, but here is my preliminary list of the top 10 WRs for fantasy football this fall.
 
Feel free to comment and post your own top 10 list.  It has been interesting to see the expectations in the RB and QB lists.
 

 
1. Randy Moss - He keeps doing it.  Even his recent injury issues aren't keeping me from putting him #1.
2. Torry Holt - Broke out in a big way in 2003.  Could get even better.
3. Marvin Harrison - A no-brainer.
4. Steve Smith - Will really benefit from an improved offense in 2004.
5. Hines Ward - Does the little things that put him near the top.
6. Andre Johnson - Was overshadowed and injured in 2003, but will be showcased in 2004.
7. Joe Horn - No more cell phones, but plenty of yards and TDs.
8. Chris Chambers - Boston will prove to be a flop and Chambers will get the stats.
9. Eric Moulds - Should rebound from a poor 2003.
10. Deion Branch - Emerges as the #1 WR in NE in 2004.
 
 
Honorable Mention: Javon Walker will mature into a solid FF WR in 2004.  Derrick Mason will continue to light it up in Tennessee.  Koren Robinson could finally have the kind of year people expect from him.  Chad Johnson is as good as anyone on the list, but will have to depend on Carson Palmer.  Jimmy Smith should defy his age and have a nice season.  Which rookie will succeed in year one?  Rashaun Woods of the Niners.

Wow, I love your list, if you had Coles up with Ward, Smith, and Chambers I would owe you a check.
 
I see the top three as almost being set in stone, yet after that I see a really deep group of second and third tier guys that are hard to differentiate.  Off the top of my head; Coles, Boldin, TO, Santana Moss, and perhaps Price belong in the top 3 tiers along with the guys you mentioned.  I do agree with Woods being the rookie WR with the best stats this year - he has a great opportunity ala Boldin last year.
 
1.  Randy Moss
2.  Torry Holt
3.  Harrison
4.  Ward (an improved running game and (hopefully) healthy line end up helping entire team)
5.  Boldin (no sophomore slump for him - he is real deal)
6.  Coles (second year with team, improved coaching)
7.  Koren Robinson (yeah he does have the year we all have been expecting)
8.  Joe Horn
9.  Steve Smith (I like him, but maybe overhyped due to Carolina's success last year)
10.  Terrell Owens (lots of talent (duh) but first year with the team)

1.  Terrell Owens, PHI - Ego and team need.  Hope I get him.  I will try.  If it works, it may go to Superbowl.
2.  Randy Moss, MIN - Forget the foot thing.  Robinson will help him like Carter did.  Could mean Superbowl.
3.  Tory Holt, STL - Look at last season.  He just gets better, and Bulger didn't exactly hate him.
4.  Marvin Harrison, IND - What Philly said.
5.  Charles Rogers, DET - Things are changing in Detroit.
6.  Andre Johnson, HOU - Carr
7.  Laveranues Coles, WAS - Gibbs
8.  Darrell Jackson, SEA - Hasselbeck
9.  Santana Moss, NYJ - Pennington & Justin McCareins
10.  Ashley Lelie, DEN - Plummer has had a chance to get into the system.

1. Marvin Harrison - He has the best QB throwing to him out of the top 3 WR.
2. Randy Moss - The injury bumps him down to #2
3. Torry Holt - He could easily end up #1. (Although Bulger is not near the QB Manning is)
4. Chad Johnson - He simply cannot be covered one-on-one.
5. Terrell Owens - McNabb doesn't need to make a perfect throw.  Just heave it down the field and TO will pull it in.  Expect 12-15 TD catches.
6. Joe Horn - I expect the Saints offense to come back in a big way this year with Joe leading the way.
7. Derrick Mason - One less guy to vulture his catches this year.
8. Lav Coles - What a difference Brunell makes.
9. E. Moulds - Lee Evens opens it up for a big year from Moulds
10. Santana Moss - All he needs to do is stay healthy.

1. Randy Moss - the super freak, not worried about his foot and M. Robinson will only help.
2. Torry Holt - Bulger's go to guy. Its just too bad he plays in such a conservative O
3. Marvin Harrison - numbers are impressive but have been sliding down last few years
4. Terrell Owens - to much upside to slip past the number 4 spot. If he is not gettin the numbers he'll cry untill he gets more touchces
5. Hines Ward - Plaxi who?
6. Chad Johnson - Carson will get it to him
7. Santana Moss  
8. Chris Chambers - Boston is already hurt
9. Derrick Mason - suprised that he is not on anyone else's list
10. Darrell Jackson - the best WR in Seattle
 
I think Moss and Holt are the top two this year with Harrison a close third and then a toss up after that. Does anyone else think that Fitzgerald is gonna really hurt Boldin's FF value?

I don't.  There was not a single other wide receiver on the team last year that defenses had to worry about.  Fitzgerald will at least be a "name" that will garner some attention.  Being a rookie, I don't think he will be quite savy enough to dominate, but he will substantially open up the field.  If Boldin got a substantial amount of production from TDs, I would be worried; he didn't, and I'm not.  I see this as a classic example of one addition helping the whole team.
 
 
So far it looks like I may be the only one that feels this way though.

I beg to differ with my boy, bg, on this one as per the "lengthy" post I made on the following thread:

Unless Fitzgerald flops or sustains an injury, both possible, Boldin will NOT have the same numbers next year, and of importance to keeper leaguers, leveling off even more in future years as Fitzgerald learns the pro game.  That's my take.  Further elaboration on the thread linked to above...

I'd be very surprised if Fitz doesn't cramp the style of Anquan Boldin.  Keep in mind that Denny Green loves this guy and was willing to throw a top pick at him despite the fact that his defense is horrible and needs a lot of attention.  He will be sure to design a lot of plays to go to Fitz.
 
I'm not saying that Boldin will crash and burn in 2004.  I think a good QB will be able to get the ball to Fitz and Boldin more than enough to satisfy FF owners of either one, but we don't yet know how good McCown is.  Could Fitz and Boldin be the Moss-Carter of Vikings past?  Sure... but I wouldn't count on it this year.

Fitz is too hot a talent at WR not to be able to get "his".
20/10 vision locks into his hand/eye coordination in regards to making the impossible catch.
Hard worker. Grew up around stars like Moss & Carter. Physically gifted. Impossible body control. Boldin's presence will only help Fitz not get doubled and Fitz to Boldin in the same manner. This offense should explode in the near future w/ an ample QB.
