Working the Waiver Wire

Well...

I have a question.  I have the first pick in a traditional scoring league.  Being in last place, I have all the marginal backs out there.  Stecker, Emmitt, etc....  I need receivers.  I have a crappy player to drop, so that is not an issue.

So, my question is, do I take Leonard Henry or do I take Stokley?  Is Stokely a fluke?  Should I take Henry so no one else gets him?  There really aren't any other receivers out there worth mentioning.

Stockley. #3 wrs are making their name this year and Henry isn't worth much, if anything at all albeit, he is a starting RB.

Henry is a Dolfin.  They play New England in W5.   Enough said.

Stokley has a lot of targets on his team.  Stokley  might not even get the option.

If I had to choose between one or the other, I'd do Stokley, just because of the fact that he at least has a chance to catch one of the numerous passes to come - maybe.  Do you have anyone else?  I do not like either.

I'd go with Stokley.  Henry has performed adequately (not great, mind you) for exactly one week.  He's this week's RB hot commodity that everyone is rushing to get, and after next week he'll be on the waiver wire again.

I agree with the King, Callie and Philly, Stokley makes a better longer-term potential pickup.

Henry had one long run against a mediocre Jets run defense and a 1.8 average rush for his other 20 carries.  That said, I hope he does something against the Patriots because I need him to cover Westbrook's bye week, however, I wouldn't expect much.

Actually, a better RB pickup this week is Artose Pinner.  He should fare better plus, unlike Leonard Henry, you may be able to use Pinner a few weeks while Kevin Jones is out.

This is a no brainer!  Stokley isn't seeing that much coverage and as a result is getting a lot of looks.  Henry plays for the Dolphins, unfortunately.

Besides, if you're in last place, why don't you play to win with Stokley instead of just getting a bad RB to "keep him away from everybody else"?  How exactly is that going to help your team?

Take Stokley and help your team instead of taking Henry and having the guy who took Stokley laugh in your last place face.  :-P

Well, I have a bit of a different take on this...

Since your expressed need is at WR and not RB, go with Stokely, I suppose.  But, if this is a keeper league and all things equal, RB's over WR's, I'd take a flyer on Leonard Henry [i[at this very point in time[/i].  "Stokelys" come and go.  The one particular upswing I like with him is if the Colts cannot re-sign Harrison at the end of the season.  Right now, though, and for the immediate future, he's the flavor of the month and shouldn't be relied on.  What other WR's are available to you in this league, Double D?

No other receivers worth mentioning were available.  I ended up going with Stokley since I really needed a reciever.

I am actually really surprisd that NO ONE picked up Henry.

Stokley has a sore hip, but he's expected to play Sunday.

This team has a lot of targets, but they throw a lot of passes.  With what must be left on the WW at this point, he was probably the best pick now at WR, even with teams starting to think about defending him.  On the other hand, how many guys can they defend on any given play?  IMHO, he'll get his chances.
