Callie, Maybe the primary threat to Holme's value in 2005 is 1) his age, wear and tear and 2) the amount of playing time he will lose to Larry Johnson this season. In terms of the passing game improvement, couldn't you make the argument that it could go either way? For example, with Johnnie Morton playing opposite Eddie Kennison, defenses could really just focus on Kennison and Gonzalez and the running game. With a viable third receiver, it forces the defense to respect the additional threat and helps the running game. If anything, I think adding Hakim might hurt Kennison's value, but I wouldn't expect the running game to be diminished that much. Actually, if the Chiefs defensive improvements materialize, they could run even more than usual this season.

| Your argument makes sense, but the AFC West is changing. And they play each other twice. Everyone is concerned about the possibility of high scoring games and the need to outscore an opponent. The Chiefs have a great QB and a great OL and can exploit that for any WR, TE or RB scoring they can accomplish. Ball control won't be enough, and Priest will be too RBBC to grab so many passes. By the same argument as you make, boxing up an RB can allow a WR to get down the field. Green can throw it to him, and I think he will. More options at WR, more passes possible. Priest keeps dropping down my board.
