If you have a taker, I'd go ahead and do that trade.
 
At pick 5 you can count on LT2, Alexander, Manning, and probably Edge being gone.  That leaves you with Priest, Deuce, or Jamal Lewis at #5.  By pick #20, you're looking at a top WR (other than Randy Moss) or a questionable RB.
 
So, with #12 and #13, you'll be able to grab two solid RBs (Rudi Johnson, Corey Dillon, Tiki Barber, Julius Jones, etc.) and be better off than #5 and #20.

It depends on who has what keepers, but barring more than say 3 of the top ten being kept, I'd go with what Jeff said.
 
Actually that could work both ways - if there are a lot of keepers in the 12-20 range then you would be swayed even more towards what Jeff is saying.

Since you forfeit a pick three rounds earlier than any keeper you might protect, I'm assuming that 4th round picks are the highest you can protect?  If so, then there shouldn't be anyone in the top 10 being protected.
