Worth reporting for the irony alone...  Another bench-warming wide receiver surnamed Horn goes from KC to New Orleans...  Wonder if this Horn will make a big splash in the Bayou, too...  From "The REAL Feed":

Saints sign Kansas City WR Horn to 2-year deal
ESPN: NFL (31.03.2006 20:00)
The Saints signed wide receiver Chris Horn to a two-year contract Thursday.

I think the initial perception is that this sets up a D'Brick to N'awlins scenario.  Because the Saints no longer appear as desperate to get out of the #2 spot, the value of that spot goes up.  I still think they want D'Brick (and thought that before they traded Gandy).  But now they might set up a deal with the Jets so the Jets move up to #2 to get Leinart (ahead of the Titans - who are also interested in his services) and the Saints slide to #4 and still get D'Brick plus another pick somewhere in this deep draft.

i also thought they would pick D'brick as you can see in the mock draft....but usally you wanna keep your motive quiet....seems like they are showing their cards early...

Not really.  Sometimes it is good to show some cards, especially if you have an ace showing while still hiding your pocket cards.  Like I said, before the Gandy trade, there was a league-wide perception that the Saints were VERY interested in moving out of the #2 slot because neither D'Brick nor Mario Williams (the only logical picks at that point) were big-time needs for the team.  So teams, knowing that the Saints were desperate to move, would low-ball them with their offers.

Now, with the Saints appearing content to stay at #2 because D'Brick fills a need for them, teams may have to offer more to acquire that #2 selection than they would have a week ago.

Remember last year, the Niners did not want any parts of the #1 overall selection, but the rest of the league knew that and didn't offer them anything enticing enough to move out of that spot.  Things will be different this year because there is a big drop-off in talent once you get outside the top 10.  (Then there is a lot of value from the second through the fourth or even fifth rounds.)

Less than two months after signing with the New Orleans Saints as the presumptive caddy to Deuce McAllister, veteran tailback Michael Bennett could find his career on a different course for 2006.

Vis-ŕ-vis the discussion that went down on the "NFL 'issues'" thread on "the Sidelines", I must say, to REemphasize the overall picture with respect to Bush, that, as per what I just heard on ESPN, his telling his agent to get a deal done so that a hold-out can be avoided at all costs is totally stand-out.  He evidently sees the "bigger picture" of the situation of the place in which he is playing and getting in good graces in general.

Looking for ways to get Bush the ball...  From "The REAL Feed":

Pasquarelli: Saints start working on plays for Bush
ESPN: NFL (16.05.2006 14:00)
The luxury of adding Reggie Bush to the Saints offense also comes with the challenge of fitting him in with Deuce McAllister.

The LATEST on Bush and his contract...  Currently atop "The REAL Feed":

Bush to Saints: Contract must 'meet our expectations
ESPN: NFL (22.05.2006 01:12)
New Orleans Saints first-round draft choice and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush delivered a not-so-subtle message to Saints officials over the weekend: It's time for everyone to take the on-ramp to the bargaining table.

Yet another report which is VERY intriguing given that discussion on "the Sidelines" mentioned above...
