Scoring (as it relates to my question)is as follows: 1 Point/Reception. 1 Point/10 yards rushing or passing. 6 Points/TD (no distance scoring). -2 Ponts/Interception. You need to start: 2 QB 2 RB 3WR 1 TE 1 K T Team Def In analyzing "projections" based on this scoring system it is pretty obvious that QB's score the most points. The fact that two must be started further inflates this fact. However, when I run the league scoring system and specs through two models I use, they suggest that the first QB not be taken until the end of the first round. I agree with this fact in that the point differentials are much greater between the RB's as opposed to the QB's. Contrary to the common belief among owners in this leage, I feel I should take the to RB's first? Am I missing something? Any additional insight would be greatly appreciated. |
| I think part of the issue is that the RBs always get taken first in any draft - even if QBs score more total points. If you go QB early, you'll get a good one, but then you're screwed on RBs. If you go RB early, like everyone else, you'll get a good RB plus there will be plenty of quality QBs left.

At 6 points for all td's, I'd be looking at 1 rb 1 qb in the first two. Again, have yet to have to put this to a real test, but if you're starting 20 qb's every week, grab at least one very early. |
| My league runs 3 qb's with 8 teams (starting 24 for the mathematically-challenged). Go RB until there's no more every-down-backs left. With the top qb's gettin decimated (Vick is out early, Gannon.. old maybe?, Garcia... back, Favre.. old maybe?, Culpepper.. not lookin good) I don't see too much difference between all the QB's this year. With all TD's = 6 points and 10 yards passing = 1 point, having a rushing threat like McNabb isn't as valuable. Therefore, I recommend grabbing 2 RB's and then grabbing QB's on bad defensive teams that should get you lots of yards, like Trent Green. Trent should be awesome in your system. Go with 2 RB then 2 QB. Starting the 3rd WR makes them valuable, but you're going to have to sacrifice one position and WR is the easiest to make up. Maybe come back for your third RB with a RBBC guy who gets a lot of receptions. You're on the right track projecting out the rounds and the values of players. This might help some if you're a numbers-addict: http://www.ffgridiron.com/football/article.php?id=20030703180217 Otherwise, always go 2 RB and come back later, especially if you can grab 2 of the top 7-10 RB's in your draft. Holmes/McAllister/Hasselsuck/Maddox looks a lot better than Gannon/Brooks/Garner/Stewart. If everyone goes QB in round 1 you can bet a buncha RB's will fly off the board between your 2nd and 3rd round picks.
