Thanks, Double D, WB for the home-team love... I'll give 'em a run, you guys know. This league is good... for me to poop on... Some brief Round 1 analysis... Best Value Pick - RB Priest Holmes at #6 Holmes could be put up #1 numbers, will put up top numbers as long as FFX has him. Worst Pick Value-wise - QB Daunte Culpepper at #5 First, quarterbacks can be waited on: you only start one AND there's the old (and true, in this style league) fact of the matter that quarterbacks are not as valuable as running backs and perhaps even wide receivers. Then, we are now beginning a new era for C-pep, one WITHOUT Randy Moss and in his place a rookie. Also, I like the Tomlinson (of course) and McGahee (ballsy) picks. I am NOT keen on the Dillon (too early) and Davis (too inconsistent) picks.

| Actually, I think it was Deuce McAllister. Although he went at #10, I think he's this years Shaun Alexander. Remember Alexander last year was way undervalued in fantasy drafts after a fairly mediocre season. I think McAllister bounces back in a large way, I drafted him at #2 in the other expert league. (Which was a reach, but he wouldn't have lasted through the first round). Quote:| Worst Pick Value-wise - QB Daunte Culpepper at #5 |
| I agree, although there are 2 QB's worthy of 1st round status, Culpepper is one of them, and we all know who the other guy is. In defense of this pick though, I would say that Culpepper will miss Randy Moss less than Randy Moss misses Culpepper. (Moss went at #11, this was also an arguably bad value).

| Deuce went a bit too early. ... As for Alexander, he wasn't being undervalued here on "the Gridiron" last year: http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cgi-bin/theGridiron/YaBB.cgi?board=56;a ction=display;num=1090808905. (Of course, Portis was being overvalued.) I actually remember Edge's (still) being undervalued last year... much more so than Alexander. But, then again, I don't get around much... ... with regards to mock drafts and such. ...

| This league scoring is a bit different compared to most common leagues. Passers are VERY important, with the 6 pts per TD pass format. Every Culpepper TD pass is equal to each TD scored by Holmes, Dillon, and James. That factor greatly effected my rankings. Rather than hope H/D/J gets 12 scores, I prefer to go with Culpepper who promises 25 TDP. (I'd not be surprised if Cullpepper scores more TD points than all three combined!) Yes. QBs can be had later. A Brooks or Vick or Hasselbeck can all be valuable here. Yet, none of those common FF QB starters is projected near the Viking passer, who regualrly rushes for a few, too. Sooo.. Let's just wait and see who benefits most - The Get-Premium-QB-Guys or the Favre-Is-King fellas. I think I know the answer... and so will you.

First off, rotoworldchris and TC, thanks for coming aboard and a hearty to "the Gridiron", my fellow fantasy footballers! I know you've got your own FF endeavors to take care of, but I hope you drop on by here with your insights from time to time. ... With respect to your response right above, TC,... fair enough.

Yes the Gridiron had Alexander correct at #5. Actually, looking at last year's average draft position he was going around #5, but ended the season as the #1 RB. I guess that isn't a major overvaluation, but my point was you can get Deuce at #10, and he may play like a top 5. Looking at last years rankings actually suggests a more interesting disparity. I remember loving Kevan Barlow at #15, and getting screwed by him in every league I took him. (Steg, actually if I recall correctly, you hated Barlow last year, that was a good call).

What luck? Good or bad, I don't know, but... Right as I was logging out from the league site and ready to give up and shut down for the night, HuddleGeeks finally showed up. Unbelievable! Literally, before my log-out he still hadn't shown, on the log-out reload he had. ... Anyway, I feel very lucky to have gotten Tiki at 2.05! Coughlin will run the hell out of him and overall they should be an improved team from last year!

Ok, FantasyFootballXtreme.com has checked in! I'm going to try and respond to everything that caught my eye as i tried to catch up... 1) First, thanks for setting this up, Steg! 2) McAllister was a steal at 10, not a stretch... i think i read that some place near the beginning, possibly from Steg 3) This draft is taking a while, TC, and like a few have said, we have things to do, we are in an "Expert" league and most importantly, at least 8 of us expected a fast draft, one reason we signed up. I still would have did it, but man, this is the slowest one ive been involved in 4) Thanks to RC for setting up the league 5) Holmes was a STEAL at 6. I agree, Steg! 6) For those on the message board, Rotoworld (Chris) and myself made a huge trade. He got my 2nd, 3rd and 4th, I got the 6 pick (holmes) his 5th and 7th. We swapped a few later picks in the 8th, 14th and 15th, but for the most part that was the trade. So FantasyFootballXtreme.com has: Holmes and McAllister so far... bring it 7) you can all have fun fighting for second! Thanks again for setting this up FantasyFootballer.com, i will be back to talk trash soon! Smitty FantasyFootballXtreme.com
