Is Maddox a good fit for Pittsburgh

Last week, before the Bengals / Steelers game I herd that the Bengals Struggled in the secondary. The Steelers exploited that. Maddox Threw for 300+ Yards. They Still lost. The difference between losing and Getting beat is leadership. The Steelers are losing because the team doesn't believe in Maddox. He simply doesn't make plays. Does he have a fine arm? Yes. Does he make a great play when the team really needs it? no. I think Maddox has some panic in him. I think maybe thats why he doesn't have a big contract. Maybe Rooney and Cower are smarter than we think. They took a wait and see with Maddox. A chance per say. It may have cost them a season. However Maddox with his 1 year at the minimum contract could vanish as fast as he arrived. The Steelers got beat this last weekend because Kitna was not gonna let the Bengals get beat. The 16 Yard run on third and 15 was a tremendous play for a QB.  It kept a scoring drive alive, and momentum with his team. Jon Kitna was a leader that day. The last big QB play I remember  the Steelers making was a 20 Yard completion on third and 16 right before 1/2 last week against the Bengals. That was Batch! However C.Batch is not the answer. TheSteelers need a QB that takes the job a little personal. Not a QB that thinks he is one of 11 guys on offense. A leader. I don't think drafting a QB early in a draft is good solution for Pittsburgh. They need to get  someone who is a proven NFL leader.  Mark Brunnell. Possibly Jon Kitna. Mike McMahon. Jeff Garcia would fit the Steelers well. I left Warner off the list because he's no different than Maddox. They may even be the same guy.
Remember Mike Tomszac wasn't the answer the first time Stewart failed. Maddox may not be the answer this time.

I agree that Maddox is done, and that the Steelers probably need a veteran to take the reins next year, but they've really got to get someone young in there for the long-term.  I'm guessing that St. Pierre isn't the answer...

Brunell would fit nicely in Pittsburgh for a year or two.  I don't know what happens to Kitna after this year.  His price tag is going through the roof.  I don't think McMahon has a future in this league as a #1 -- and I'm a fellow Rutgers grad.

What about Batch?  I think they paid him like $1 million to sign.  Are they really paying him that much to sit on the bench?

Why don't they play him the rest of the year and see what he can do???

Batch isn't a starter.  He's a decent back-up player if you need him, but, according to his agent, he likes his role as a back-up over starter.  Apparently he doesn't care for the pressure and spotlight of a #1 guy.
