From the story: Quote:| Over the last 15 drafts, from 1989 through 2003, NFL teams chose 50 wide receivers in the first round, and only four of them -- Joey Galloway, Terry Glenn, Randy Moss and, last year, Anquan Boldin -- gained 1,000 yards as a rookie. (No receiver drafted after the first round has gained 1,000 yards since Bill Brooks and Ernest Givins both did it in 1986.) |
| I'm not familiar with the author, but apparently the author is not familiar with the draft. Anquan Boldin should have been taken in the first round, but did not get selected until the second round. Otherwise an interesting read. The comparison (not by the author, but by Marty Schottenheimer) of this year's QB class to the class of '83 seemed a bit of a stretch. But this could certainly be the best WR class the draft has ever seen.

Quote:"The blue-collar group in the draft is a larger group than I've ever seen, " said Charley Armey, general manager of the St. Louis Rams. "There is real depth. Most of the time, the value in the first round is gone by the middle of the round, and you're picking second-round value and paying first-rounders. This year, it's a lot deeper. The more picks you've got this year, the better." |
| This is the part I found most interesting. Should be an interesting rest-of-the-week. Wonder what's happening behind closed doors.....
